Chapter 109: Chapter 109 I want to drink too
Hearing Leng Zimo’s voice, Lu Hao’s eyes immediately filled with terror.
After being tormented for several hours, his drunkenness had long since faded.
Now, he was acutely aware of just how strong Leng Zimo was; this man was even more terrifying than the rumors suggested.
Twenty years? Even ten years would ruin him completely.
"Xiao Qian, please don’t do this. I know you hate me; I deserve to die. But if I go to prison, my mom will surely be devastated when she hears about it. You know her health isn’t good. I deserve to die, but she’s done nothing wrong..."
"Enough!"
Luo Xiaoqian whispered these two words and turned to walk out the door.
She didn’t want to hear another word from him, nor did she want to spare him another glance.
"Young Master Leng?"
Several people nearby looked at Leng Zimo with some difficulty.
Seeing a glimmer of hope, Lu Hao immediately started kowtowing, "Young Master Leng, please spare me just this once. If you let me go this time, I promise to vanish from Luo Xiaoqian’s world forever!"
"It’s in your hands now!" Leng Zimo said without even glancing at him, turned, and walked out the room. The hallway was empty. He hurried down the stairs and exited the building, only to see Luo Xiaoqian already seated in the passenger seat. He let out a slight sigh of relief and got into the car as well.
She took the initiative to fasten her seatbelt, curled up in her seat, and asked in a soft voice, "Could you take me for a drive?"
Leng Zimo started the car, and the black sports car shot out of the gate like the wind, onto the ring road, and onto the highway heading north of town, leaving the city area far behind soon enough.
Outside the window, the streetlights were like a stream of water. Luo Xiaoqian watched those lights merge together, yet in her eyes, they reflected the ten years of her life.
The first time she met Lu Hao was also at night. That day, she had heard the news of her father’s death. Fearing her mother’s sorrow, she didn’t dare to cry alone at home, so she ran out under the streetlights to weep. Then, he came by and offered her a tissue.
...
When Luo Xiaoqian came back to her senses, the car had already stopped in an unfamiliar place, with Leng Zimo having opened the door for her.
"Get out!"
She jumped out of the car, looked around, and saw lights all around with ancient buildings on the ridgeline as if from an animal’s spine.
It was the Great Wall!
As a child, her father always said that once he had time, he’d take her to Beijing to see Tiananmen and climb the Great Wall.
Lu Hao had said similar things but never made good on them.
Back then, she always thought he was just busy. Little did she know, the things keeping him busy every day amounted to nothing more than conquering more women for his own purposes.
She never imagined that the first man to bring her to the Great Wall would be Leng Zimo.
Taking off at a run, she dashed to the Great Wall, climbing up like a madwoman until she was so out of breath that she couldn’t take another step. She stopped in the night wind and collapsed onto the rough steps.
Tears fell drop by drop, shattering as they landed on the stones weathered by thousands of years.
Footsteps approached, and knowing it was him, she raised her hand to wipe her eyes.
Leng Zimo came over and squatted down silently, handing her two things.
A pack of tissues and a carton of milk, which was, surprisingly, still hot.
He always seemed to be capable of anything, getting hot milk even in a place like this.
After placing the items in her hands, he casually took out a can of beer from his bag, opened it, and took a nonchalant sip.
"I want to drink too!" Luo Xiaoqian reached out.
Ignoring her, she stood up, snatched the can from his hand, raised it to her lips, and guzzled it down, choking and coughing. After wiping her mouth, she continued to drink until not a drop more came out. Then, she threw the empty can down forcefully.
