Chapter 797: Chapter 643: Acceptance and Growth
"Why are you busy today replacing the fence for Siji?" Ning Youguang asked Yu Xian, looking at Siji lying quietly and obediently at the entrance of the elegant room, "Why not at other times?"
"The fence was ordered long ago, and I was hesitant about whether to replace it. Compared to watching the excitement from within the fence, I hope it can stay peacefully in its world." Yu Xian paused briefly and continued warmly, "But I realized that no matter how good of a meal or warm of a nest I provide, it still longs for the outside world. So I thought, let’s just change the board blocking it, since it likes to watch, let it watch properly."
Ning Youguang laughed, "I never thought Siji liked watching the excitement."
Yu Xian sighed, "I don’t understand what’s so entertaining about it."
"Different species, it’s normal to not understand," Ning Youguang said.
Yu Xian chuckled, "It’s still early. Shall we chat for a while and have the hot pot later?"
— "The ingredients are ready, we can eat whenever."
Ning Youguang thought it was a good idea, "Let’s have some tea first, empty our stomachs, so we can eat more later."
Yu Xian looked at Shi Wangyue, "What about you, Mr. Shi?"
"Later sounds good," Shi Wangyue nodded gently.
He was never one for indulgence in food and drink. Today, he came knowing Ning Youguang would agree to come to "Wujian Zizai," not just for Yu Xian’s Nuodeng Ham, but more so because it had been quite a while since they last met.
Ning Youguang and Yu Xian hadn’t seen each other for a long time, and they had many new topics to discuss.
"I recently got a Leica camera, do you want to try it later?" Seeing Ning Youguang seriously taking photos of him brewing tea with her phone, Yu Xian asked.
"Sure," Ning Youguang handed her phone to Yu Xian, "Let’s swap and take photos. This phone is new; try out the lens."
She is a photography enthusiast with skills at a professional photographer level.
Yu Xian is a well-known food photographer and still life photographer in the country, so it’s inevitable they’d discuss photography-related topics when together.
Yu Xian placed two cups of brewed black Fu brick tea in front of Ning Youguang and Shi Wangyue, then got up to retrieve a camera from the cabinet behind him.
"Drink more," Ning Youguang said to Shi Wangyue while holding her teacup, "This is the oldest tea in Yu Xian’s collection; it’s very special. He probably wouldn’t have taken it out to brew for us if it weren’t Christmas."
Shi Wangyue smiled and took a sip, "The taste is indeed special."
"For good tea, you must come to Yu Xian’s place; it’s both enjoyment and experience."
Ning Youguang praised Yu Xian’s tea-making skills, then turned to Shi Wangyue and complained, "You wouldn’t know, he’s so stingy he wouldn’t give me this tea even when I asked."
Yu Xian was both amused and helpless, "Ms. Ning, I’ve only collected 100g of this black Fu brick. Count on your fingers, if I drink a brew per week, it only lasts three months. And every time you’ve come this year, you’ve specifically asked for this, to the extent that I sometimes want to drink it myself but have to resist."
Even when reasoning, Yu Xian’s speech was gentle and amiable.
"I’ve only come here three times this year," Ning Youguang said with a smile.
"Yes, if you came a few more times, we wouldn’t have any left to drink today."
Yu Xian quickly took out a gift box of tea leaves and a camera from the cabinet.
He first handed the camera to Ning Youguang. Once she took it, he placed the gift box beside her leg, "I recently found this ’Jiangnan’ Lapsang Souchong my teacher custom-made for his high-end clients in 2008. Don’t know if you fancy it."
"Lapsang Souchong?" Ning Youguang put down the Leica camera and looked at the tea in the bag.
She knew Yu Xian’s teacher’s high-end clients were top elites in the country; tea made for them must be excellent.
"Yes," Yu Xian said, "I have some loose ones here, want to try it?"
The traditional Lapsang Souchong has a history of over 300 years. It’s normal for many not to understand or get used to it.
But once a tea drinker gets accustomed to Lapsang Souchong, they can’t part with it for life.
"Yes," Ning Youguang said, "I haven’t had much Lapsang Souchong, but my grandfather is fond of it. He says its subtlety provides comfort to mind and body any time it’s drunk."
