Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Make Them Pay in Blood

Listening to them discuss their upcoming trip—and other, more intimate matters—Bai Zhi could only silently focus on eating.

’The forwardness of these Beastmen is really beyond anything I could have imagined!’

Several handsome Beastmen, each with his own unique style, were sitting right beside her discussing such private topics. It was seriously rocking her world...

Bai Zhi stopped eating when she was about half full. Lunch would be served soon, and if she filled up now, she wouldn’t have an appetite for it later.

Afterward, she went next door to Xiang Ling’s house.

When Bai Zhi knocked on the door, Xiang Ling was on a call, chewing someone out on the other end. Even after her robot announced a visitor, she still wore a look of raw, untempered anger.

When the door opened, Bai Zhi saw she was busy and gestured that she could wait, not wanting to interrupt. But the moment Xiang Ling saw it was her, the anger on her face vanished. She snapped one last thing into her device, "If you still can’t get it done, don’t even bother showing up tomorrow!"

Then she hung up.

"Are you okay? What happened yesterday? Xing Fan and I waited forever, and when you didn’t come out, we went in to look for you. We searched everywhere but couldn’t find you. We finally checked the security footage and saw you’d been kidnapped. We were worried sick!" Xiang Ling said, spinning Bai Zhi around and looking her over from head to toe, only relaxing when she was sure she was unharmed.

"It was really dangerous..." Bai Zhi then recounted the whole ordeal, leaving out only the part about her using Invisibility.

"You have no idea. I really thought I was going to die..." Even though a whole night had passed, Bai Zhi was still shaken by the memory.

An experience like that would traumatize anyone; they might never want to set foot on a Starship again.

Xiang Ling grew more horrified with every word. When she heard that Bai Zhi had been abandoned on a Starship under heavy fire and had nearly been blown to pieces along with it, her explosive temper got the better of her. She slammed a fist on the table, sending everything on it crashing to the floor.

With a loud CRASH, Xiang Ling’s furious voice roared, "Who the hell were those Beastmen?! They’d better pray I don’t find them!"

Bai Zhi shook her head. "I don’t know them. But I can guess who hired them."

Xiang Ling frowned. "Who? Do you need my help?"

A vicious glint flashed in Bai Zhi’s bright, round eyes. "No need. I’ll make her pay the price!"

Xiang Ling nodded, then frowned as if she just remembered something. "Come to think of it, there seemed to be another group following us yesterday. But they took off right after they saw you get kidnapped. I wonder if you know them."

As she spoke, she pulled up the security footage she had saved on her Light Computer for Bai Zhi to see.

Bai Zhi stared at it for a few seconds before recognizing the Beastmen in the video. They were the same ones who had scammed her body’s previous owner after Yu Jia had tricked her into gambling!

They had even saddled the original owner with a hefty debt in Star Coins.

But because of Hu Yan and the others, the group hadn’t dared to treat her the way they treated their other victims.

Seeing them here, following her, Bai Zhi instantly understood. It must have been Yu Jia. She must have told them that Bai Zhi had bought property the other day.

They knew she had money now and probably thought they could swindle her again, just like before, and make her cough up all her Star Coins.

What they didn’t know, however, was that this body had a new owner. ’And I’m not falling for their pathetic little tricks!’

’After all, the scams from my original world were far more vicious than anything these people could dream up.’

’I haven’t even gone after Yu Jia yet, and she’s already getting impatient!’

Bai Zhi’s expression turned cold. "Know them? Of course I know them! We’re *old acquaintances*!"

Seeing her expression darken, Xiang Ling guessed they had some history. "According to the guards," she said, "they were probably waiting outside the Grand Domain Estate for a while but couldn’t get in because security was too tight. When they saw us leave, they took the opportunity to follow. They even followed you when you went to the restroom. They just didn’t expect someone else to beat them to the punch."

Bai Zhi nodded. "Thank you for all this. I’ll take care of the rest. With all that’s happened, I almost forgot why I came. I wanted to thank you. If you hadn’t contacted the Female Alliance so quickly, I might still not have been rescued. This is just a small token of my appreciation; you can’t refuse it."

Xiang Ling waved a dismissive hand. "Don’t be so formal. You were kidnapped while you were out with me, so I’m partly responsible. If we had gone with you, maybe none of this would have happened."

Bai Zhi smiled. "If you had been there, you might have just gotten kidnapped right along with me."

Her comment made Xiang Ling laugh. She lifted her chin proudly. "I wouldn’t be so sure about that. An ordinary Beastman is no match for me."

Seeing her friend’s confidence, Bai Zhi laughed and offered some heartfelt praise.

Xiang Ling laughed along with her, but then her expression turned serious. "But really, you’re sure you don’t need my help?"

Bai Zhi shook her head. "Don’t forget, I have five Beast Husbands, and they’re very powerful! But if I do need help, I won’t hesitate to ask."

Remembering that Xiang Ling had been busy when she arrived, Bai Zhi didn’t want to hold her up any longer. She said her goodbyes, promising to treat her to dinner once this matter was resolved.

When she returned home, Hu Yan had nearly finished making their meal.

Bai Zhi went to the kitchen to help out and told Hu Yan what she had just learned from Xiang Ling.

Hu Yan’s voice was as gentle as ever. "What do you plan to do about them?"

Thinking about what happened on the Starship, Bai Zhi’s grip tightened unconsciously, snapping the vegetable in her hand. Her voice was cold and laced with malice as she said, "Naturally, they’ll pay in blood!"

Hu Yan didn’t comment on her tone, only saying, "Yan Yichen has proof that Yun Xi was behind your kidnapping."

Stunned, Bai Zhi turned to look at Hu Yan. She bit her lip and asked, "Don’t you think I’m being cruel?"

Hearing this, Hu Yan looked up at her and shook his head, his light-blue eyes full of earnest gentleness. "Of course not. You are our wife. Letting you come to harm was our failure."

"Besides, the trauma you endured is irreparable. Since they dared to do it, they should be prepared for retaliation. No one could fault you for that; it would be unfair to you otherwise. If you need us to do anything, just tell us. I’m sure the others feel the same."

Hearing Hu Yan’s words, Bai Zhi stared at him blankly for a long time. ’Everyone used to call her a vicious female. But now that she was about to do something truly ruthless, Hu Yan was telling her it was justified. He didn’t think she was cruel at all and even told her to just ask for their help.’

It had been many years since Bai Zhi had felt so cared for. A tingling sensation pricked her nose, and her eyes grew red. She quickly turned her head away and murmured, "Thank you."

Seeing her reaction, a smile bloomed in Hu Yan’s light-blue eyes. He said nothing, simply turning back to the task at hand.
