However, Yu Jia saw this act, and Bai Zhi’s words, as pure contempt. She was used to thinking of Bai Zhi as incompetent, and that, combined with the incomprehensible nonsense she’d just spouted, made Yu Jia’s anger ignite.

She lunged forward and gave Bai Zhi a hard shove, then pressed her elbow to her throat. "Bai Zhi," she snarled, "if you value your life, you’d better not cross me. Or else I’ll make sure you never know a moment’s peace!"

With Bai Zhi’s deliberate maneuvering, her hip crashed into the table with a THUD.

This was followed by a BANG, then a loud CRASH—

"BEEP BEEP BEEP— WARNING, WARNING—"

"WARNING, WARNING— FIGHTING PROHIBITED—"

"BEEP BEEP BEEP— ABNORMAL TEMPERATURE DETECTED— INITIATING FIRE SUPPRESSION—"

"HISS—"

As the robot promptly extinguished the flames with a spray of water, smoke began to billow out of the room.

With Yu Jia’s arm still pressed against her neck, Bai Zhi was struggling to breathe. The irritation in her throat forced a cough. "Ugh, cough, cough..."

Hu Yan wasn’t present, but Yan Yichen was ever mindful of his duty to protect his wife. Seeing Bai Zhi pinned by the neck, he lunged forward, swatting the other female’s arm away. He pulled Bai Zhi behind him and glared at them warily. "What do you think you’re doing to my wife?"

Seeing Bai Zhi pulled to safety, a furious Yu Jia tried to lunge forward again. Her Beastman partner hadn’t realized Bai Zhi was an acquaintance of his wife. Seeing her absolutely livid, he quickly moved to block her. "My love, don’t be angry. Didn’t you hear what she said? She just thought I didn’t have a mate, so she was making a friendly overture. She didn’t do anything wrong. She just sent a little more beast meat than the others. We actually came out ahead."

The commotion in the private room was so loud it overshadowed the battle between Tai and the Red Flame Beast in the arena below. People in the stands kept glancing up at Room 9.

When they saw smoke pouring out of Room 9, many couldn’t help but rise to their feet. Now, even fewer people were paying attention to the fight between Tai and the Red Flame Beast.

"What’s going on up there? Why is there smoke?"

"From the sound of it, it seems like a fight broke out up there?"

Just then, the other females who had come to thank Bai Zhi arrived at the door. They froze, taken aback by the scene inside. A robot was whirring about, putting out a fire, and the atmosphere was thick with tension.

One of the females even stepped back to check the room number. After confirming she was in the right place, she asked with a puzzled expression, "What happened here?"

Bai Zhi straightened her clothes and smiled. "Just a small misunderstanding. Sorry for the mess. And you are...?"

She let her question hang in the air. The females who had come were mostly good-natured. Despite the chaotic scene, they showed no signs of judgment. One smiled and said, "I’m Xing Fan, and this is Xiao Yu... We came to thank you for the roasted meat."

The female named Xiao Yu added, "I never knew you could eat roasted meat while watching the fights here. It was a real eye-opener for us! To thank you for sending us the food..."

She trailed off, then gestured with her eyes. "Do you need any help here?"

From behind the group of females, several Beastmen’s voices chimed in. "We can help, too."

Another Beastman added with a hearty laugh, "That’s right! If there’s anything at all we can do, just say the word. We’re always happy to help a female in need."

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhi offered a polite smile. "My name is Bai Zhi. It’s my first time here. Thank you all for offering to help, but she and I are acquainted. It was just a little misunderstanding..."

She paused, feigning a troubled expression, and glanced at Yu Jia. Yu Jia was scowling, clearly unhappy. Her Beast Husband, however, pulled her behind him and forced a smile. "That’s right, just a misunderstanding. We actually came to thank this female as well."

Bai Zhi explained candidly, "I saw that Beastman sitting over there by himself and assumed he didn’t have a mate. So, I had the robot express a little admiration when it delivered the meat. I had no idea he was already taken, let alone by someone I know. That’s how this whole misunderstanding started. But ultimately, the fault is mine. Besides, all these people were clearly on Bai Zhi’s side because of a little bit of roasted meat. If Yu Jia tried to start something now, she’d likely be the one to get the worst of it.

She might not have been the sharpest, but she knew how to read a room.

One of the Beastmen silently thought, ’Why couldn’t she have taken a fancy to me?’ but what he said aloud was, "It’s not your fault. It’s only natural to admire a handsome man. Besides, you’ve already apologized."

"That’s right! How about you check us out instead? We’re all single Beastmen, and we’re just as good-looking as him." The Beastman who spoke even puffed out his chest and flexed, showing off his masculine physique.

Bai Zhi simply responded with a smile.

The robot had reported the disturbance in Bai Zhi’s room to the management. As a result, several nearby Beastman guards and Aik himself rushed over, saving Bai Zhi from the awkward situation.

Aik impassively surveyed the scene. "What’s everyone gathered here for? I received a fire alert from Robot 006 for Room 9. What happened? How did a fire start?"

He had intended to return to Room 9, but seeing it was crowded, he slipped into an empty room instead. He then relayed the new room number to Bai Zhi.

Xing Fan shot a look at Yu Jia. "It’s not your fault. If anyone should pay, it’s her. You wouldn’t have bumped into the table for no reason if she hadn’t pushed you."

Xiao Yu agreed, "Yeah, if anyone pays, it should be her."

Yu Jia’s face contorted in a sneer as she began to curse, "That shameless bitch! Why the hell should I pay? She provoked me first! I was just teaching her a little lesson. Who knew she was so fragile? I’m starting to think she’s just trying to frame me!"

Her outburst made the others frown in disapproval.

Bai Zhi had treated so many people to roasted meat, giving her the upper hand in winning people over. When you contrasted her attitude with Yu Jia’s, it was no surprise that everyone present was siding with Bai Zhi.

After all, someone willing to spend so much money treating a crowd to roasted meat couldn’t be a truly bad person. Of course, there was always the possibility she just had money to burn.

And yet, Bai Zhi had remained gentle and courteous from start to finish. Even after being shoved so hard she’d crashed into a table, she hadn’t pointed fingers. She’d even apologized to her attacker. When the guards arrived, her first instinct was to express remorse for the damages and offer to pay. All of this just further proved that the other female was the one being completely unreasonable.
