Chapter 224: FEELING DIZZY
The room remained perfectly still.
Guiying continued staring at his trembling hand for several long moments, flexing his fingers once before slowly closing them again. The dizziness gradually eased until the floor beneath his feet finally stopped shifting, allowing him to let out a slow, controlled breath.
"...Maybe I stood up too quickly."
He quietly reassured himself before shaking the thought away.
There was no point worrying Liuxian over something that had already passed. Besides, they were leaving for the hospital soon anyway, and if something truly was wrong, Gu Yanchen would find out soon enough.
Guiying wrapped his fingers around the bathroom doorknob once more before slowly pushing the door open.
Warm steam soon filled the room as he turned on the shower, and after adjusting the temperature, he stepped beneath the falling water with a quiet sigh.
The warmth relaxed the aching muscles throughout his body.
For several peaceful minutes, he simply stood there with his eyes closed while the water ran over his shoulders, washing away the lingering exhaustion from the sleepless night.
Even the stiffness left behind by the bone pain gradually began easing beneath the steady stream.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Maybe I was overthinking it..."
He reached for the shampoo resting nearby before working it through his damp hair, the familiar routine slowly settling his mind.
Everything seemed perfectly normal again, making the dizziness from earlier feel almost insignificant.
Then...
The world shifted.
Guiying immediately opened his eyes.
The tiled walls blurred before slowly tilting to one side, forcing him to instinctively reach for the wall beside him before his balance disappeared completely. His breathing unconsciously became heavier as he shut his eyes once more, waiting for the violent spinning to settle.
Several long moments passed.
Only after the dizziness gradually eased did he dare to open his eyes again.
His brows slowly knitted together.
"...Again?"
The word slipped quietly from his lips.
He remained standing exactly where he was for another minute before carefully finishing his shower.
This time every movement became noticeably slower, his free hand never once leaving the wall for too long as though he no longer trusted his own balance.
When he finally turned off the water, he didn’t move immediately.
Instead, he stood there listening.
Apart from the quiet sound of dripping water and his own breathing, everything remained perfectly normal.
Guiying eventually reached for the towel.
He slowly dried himself before wrapping it loosely around his waist and stepping back into the bedroom. Tiny droplets of water continued sliding from the ends of his hair, leaving a faint trail across the polished floor as he quietly walked toward the closet.
The morning sunlight already filled the spacious room.
Rows of neatly arranged clothes stretched along both walls while the large marble island standing at the center reflected the soft golden light pouring in through the windows.
Normally, Guiying enjoyed standing there for several minutes deciding what to wear.
Today...
He walked straight toward the nearest drawer.
Pulling out a fresh pair of underwear, he quietly changed before reaching for the shirt Liuxian had prepared earlier.
His fingers had barely brushed the fabric.
Everything blurred again.
Guiying immediately lowered his hand onto the marble countertop.
His breathing became uneven as another wave of dizziness crashed over him with far more force than before. The smooth surface beneath his palm suddenly felt like the only stable thing in the room, forcing him to remain completely still until the spinning slowed.
A fine layer of cold sweat gradually appeared across his forehead.
"...The fuck is happening..."
His voice sounded noticeably weaker this time.
He had experienced countless heats before.
Some had been easier.
Others had been miserable.
But never...
Not once...
Had he ever become this dizzy.
Guiying slowly picked up the shirt again.
He managed to slip one arm through the sleeve before the room tilted for a third time.
The fabric quietly slipped from his fingers.
He didn’t bother picking it up again.
Instead, he carefully turned around before leaving the closet altogether, each step slower than the last as he made his way back toward the bedroom. The short distance suddenly felt much farther than it ever had before.
By the time he reached the bed, his legs no longer felt steady.
He lowered himself onto the edge of the mattress before he could lose his balance completely, one hand immediately pressing against the bed while the other rubbed slowly against his temple.
The room continued spinning.
Not as violently as before.
Just enough to leave him feeling nauseous.
Guiying remained completely still, hoping it would pass the same way it had the previous two times.
It didn’t.
His fingers slowly tightened against the bedsheet.
"...This never happened before."
He quietly searched through every memory he had of his previous heats, replaying each one over and over inside his mind. The fever... the bone pain... the changing pheromones... none of those surprised him anymore.
This...
This didn’t belong.
A quiet knock sounded outside the bedroom.
"Guiying?"
Liuxian’s voice drifted through the room.
"I’m coming back in."
Guiying instinctively tried to answer.
His lips parted.
No sound came out.
The dizziness surged again.
He immediately squeezed his eyes shut, lowering his head as another wave of nausea rolled through him.
The bedroom door slowly opened.
Liuxian stepped into the bedroom with a fresh change of clothes, already planning to remind Guiying not to rush because they still had plenty of time before their appointment.
The words never left his mouth.
His eyes immediately landed on Guiying sitting motionless at the edge of the bed.
His shirt remained lying somewhere inside the closet.
Apart from the underwear he had managed to put on, he hadn’t dressed at all.
"Guiying."
Liuxian crossed the room in only a few quick strides before kneeling in front of him.
The closer he got, the more obvious it became that something wasn’t right.
Guiying’s breathing had become noticeably heavier, while the hand pressing against the mattress had tightened until his fingertips had turned pale.
"What happened?"
Guiying slowly opened his eyes.
The movement alone seemed to make the dizziness worse because he immediately frowned before lowering his head again.
His lips parted as though trying to answer, yet for several seconds nothing came out.
Liuxian’s heart slowly tightened.
He gently rested one hand against Guiying’s knee before leaning closer, making sure his voice remained calm despite the growing concern inside him.
"Guiying."
"Talk to me."
