Chapter 272: Chapter 272: President Grant, You Two Divorced 800 Years Ago

Jenson Forrest’s descending chair stopped abruptly. He looked down at the two women in his arms.

"Brother, don’t hit him! I don’t want you to kill someone!"

"If you kill him and go to jail, what will I do?"

Lillian Forrest pleaded with him through her tears.

Sophia Shaw was trying to both shield Lillian from being hurt by Jenson and hold him back, creating a rather awkward scene. "Jenson Forrest, be reasonable. You’re scaring Lil."

Jenson Forrest’s senses slowly returned. He dropped the chair, then gently pulled the two women into a tight embrace.

From a distance, Levin Sawyer, who was walking out of an officer’s room: "..."

Vincent Grant also happened to walk in right then. His eyes sharpened instantly at the sight.

He rushed over in a few strides, intending to pull Sophia Shaw out.

But Levin Sawyer was faster. He reached out, scooped Sophia Shaw into his own arms, and glared at Jenson Forrest. "Forrest, what do you think you’re doing?!"

He looked at him as if he were a lecher.

Vincent Grant: "..."

His hand was left hanging empty in mid-air, his palm clutching nothing but a corner of Sophia Shaw’s clothing.

Vincent Grant’s gaze slowly traveled up from the fabric to Sophia Shaw, who was now protectively held in Levin Sawyer’s arms. He also didn’t miss the anger in Levin Sawyer’s eyes.

Levin was half-embracing Sophia, his eyes betraying a man’s possessiveness over a woman. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Then there was Jenson Forrest, holding Lillian Forrest, his gaze filled with anguish.

His fingers clenched into a tight fist, crushing the sash from Sophia Shaw’s clothes that had been torn off...

"President Sawyer, if you would be so kind as to return my wife to me," Vincent Grant said, suppressing the displeasure rising in his chest.

’He could take care of his own woman!’

Levin Sawyer let out a short laugh. "HA. President Grant, you must be dreaming."

’It’s been ages since the divorce, and he’s still calling her his wife!’

He held Sophia Shaw tighter, pulling back even the corner of her clothing that Vincent Grant was holding. "I suggest President Grant go home, get some more sleep, and then we can talk."

After speaking, he lowered his voice and asked Sophia Shaw, "Are you okay?"

Sophia Shaw first turned her head to look at Lillian Forrest.

She was being held by Jenson Forrest, who had already put the chair down.

Liam Reed, thoroughly terrified by Jenson Forrest’s frenzy, was huddled in a corner, bruised and trembling.

His terrified eyes were fixed on Jenson Forrest. The slightest movement from Jenson sent him scrambling to cover his head.

He was truly scared.

Liam Reed had never imagined that the man who was usually gentle with everyone could one day become so wild and ferocious.

He had almost been beaten to death.

Sophia Shaw withdrew her cold gaze from Liam Reed, then shook her head and said, "I’m fine."

Levin Sawyer couldn’t help but advise, "Next time something like this happens, don’t jump in the middle of it. What if you got hit? How could your small frame handle it?"

"So many people are counting on you. If something happened to you, how would I go on living?"

"And I reckon my mom wouldn’t survive it either."

’His own mother was hoping every day that he would marry Sophia Shaw.’

Levin Sawyer had phrased this cleverly. By mentioning himself along with everyone at Lead Aerospace, he made it difficult for Sophia Shaw to read any ulterior motives into his words. She could only smile and say, "Don’t scare me like that."

’Mrs. Sawyer wouldn’t be able to live? That’s a bit of an exaggeration.’

Her voice was naturally soft, and though she meant nothing by it, to Vincent Grant’s ears, it sounded like she was flirting with Levin Sawyer.

Vincent Grant wrung his empty palm, his expression growing even fouler.

Seeing that he hadn’t left yet, Levin Sawyer said with annoyance, "President Grant, I heard your Joanna and her father were both hospitalized. Shouldn’t you go see them?"

’Being a third wheel here is so annoying.’

Levin Sawyer’s provocation was blatant, yet Sophia Shaw acted dependent and close with him.

Vincent Grant felt a sharp pang in his heart and pressed a hand to his chest.

"Sorry, Faye." Jenson Forrest, now fully composed, turned to Sophia Shaw.

His eyes were filled with a deep apology.

And beneath that apology was a profound affection he could barely conceal.

"It’s okay." Sophia Shaw looked at Lillian Forrest. "I’m just glad Lil is okay."

Lillian Forrest’s heart was still pounding. She couldn’t see, so she was naturally unaware of how close Sophia Shaw and Levin Sawyer were standing. She spoke up, "Sophie, I’m fine. It’s a good thing you were here to help. I really couldn’t have calmed my brother down by myself."

Lillian Forrest tugged on the corner of Jenson Forrest’s shirt. "Brother, don’t be so impulsive. You’ll scare me and Sophie. It would be a problem if she started ignoring you."

Sophia Shaw: "..."

’That sounds a little strange.’

"I’m sorry," Jenson Forrest said in a low voice.

The matter with Yasmine Reed was too humiliating; he didn’t want to discuss it in front of so many people.

Sophia Shaw also didn’t want Lillian Forrest’s situation to be brought up again in public. She said in a low voice, "Let’s go outside first."

Liam Reed was grabbed by the police and dragged into an interrogation room as Sophia Shaw and the others walked out.

Jenson Forrest prepared to take Lillian Forrest home. He thoughtfully opened the car door for her and carefully helped her inside.

Sophia Shaw watched them for a moment, then said quietly to Levin Sawyer, "Levin, wait a second."

She walked over, and once Jenson Forrest had closed the door on Lillian Forrest’s side, she said softly, "I’m sorry, Mr. Forrest. I brought Lil here on my own initiative."

"A doctor once told me that avoidance doesn’t solve problems. You can only move on by facing them head-on, so..."

Jenson Forrest looked down with deep eyes at the woman who was a head shorter than him.

The woman was slightly plump, buxom and gentle. Beneath her hair, her earlobes were as fair and smooth as jade, perfectly rounded.

His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. He suppressed his emotions before speaking. "You did nothing wrong. In fact, it was I who wasn’t thoughtful enough."

"Lil did very well just now. She’s stronger than I imagined."

"You’re really good at this."

Sophia Shaw smiled.

’What is there to be good at? It’s just a case of a long illness turning the patient into a good doctor.’

The pain that the Sherman Family and the Jennings Family had inflicted on her back then took more than half a year to ease.

"Sophie."

Lillian Forrest’s face appeared in the lowered car window.

"Thank you."

"If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been able to move on so quickly."

Sophia was like a caring big sister, understanding her every thought and carefully helping her work through them.

Her ability to feel hopeful about the world again was all thanks to Sophia.

"Sophie, when I start college, if there’s anything I don’t understand, can I ask you? Can I call you and see you?"

She secretly pressed her lips together, glancing in Jenson Forrest’s direction.

’Besides wanting to see Sophie herself, she also wanted to create an opportunity for her brother. Her brother is super gentle.’

"Of course you can." Sophia Shaw had always been fond of Lillian Forrest, so she certainly wouldn’t refuse.

Knowing Sophia Shaw was busy with many things, Jenson Forrest didn’t delay her any longer.

He got in the car and started the engine.

As he drove away, his gaze toward her was both restrained and full of longing.

Sophia Shaw was smiling and waving at Lillian Forrest.

The car had just started moving when Lillian Forrest eagerly said to Jenson Forrest, "Brother, from now on, can you stay a little farther away from Joanna?"

"Don’t do business with her, and don’t see her privately!"

Lillian Forrest was no fool. She had long ago figured out who was good and who was bad from the different ways Joanna Sherman and Sophia Shaw handled her assault by Liam Reed.

Joanna Sherman kept saying that Liam Reed was a good person and that it’s a huge hassle for a woman who’s been assaulted.

Sophie was completely different.

She said being assaulted wasn’t my fault.

She also said that even if the assault had succeeded, it wouldn’t define me. If I just stayed despondent like this, the bad guy would truly win.

In any case, during the days Joanna Sherman stayed with her, her entire world had been dark.

The moment Sophia arrived, she felt liberated.

Then, thinking about how Jenson Forrest had invested in Joanna Sherman, a cold sweat nearly broke out on Lillian Forrest’s back.

’Joanna Sherman said all those things because she wanted to control her mind! To hold her firmly in the palm of her hand, so she could do whatever she wanted to her brother in the future!’
