Chapter 460: Chapter 309: Deep Dive into Memory

The reunion and laughter eventually come to an end.

After the rainbow, comes the storm.

This time, Edge is reborn from the ashes, reaching higher places.

And the moment to pay the price has ultimately arrived.

Su Mo drove the black ark into the Municipal Center District, stopping in front of the Heaven-Reaching Tower.

The highest building in New Moon City towered imposingly before Su Mo, with mysterious double helices, cold soldiers, and the soaring white dragon—the three symbols glistening on the tops of the three towers, representing the unshakeable power and status of the three corporate giants.

Qi Ling unbuckled the seatbelt from the passenger seat and said, "I’ll go in first, remember to pick me up in 8 hours."

Su Mo was about to say something when Qi Ling placed her finger on his lips and seriously said, "No being sad, no apologizing, no saying sorry; I don’t want to hear such pretentious words."

Su Mo smiled helplessly, "You don’t know what you’ll encounter once you go in. I can’t just laugh here, can I?"

Qi Ling lifted Su Mo’s lip corner with her finger and smiled, "That’s right, you should smile. I love seeing you smile."

Seeing the smiling girl in front of him, Su Mo felt a sudden trembling in his heart. At this moment of farewell, he instinctively reached out to embrace Qi Ling.

He held her tightly, gently rubbing his face against her cheek, reluctant to let go.

Qi Ling was momentarily stunned, then a gentle smile opened in her amber eyes, "Ah~ Stupid finally learned to hug me voluntarily?"

Su Mo smoothed Qi Ling’s hair, which he had messed up, and whispered, "I only have one request. No matter what happens, when you come back, don’t hide anything. Record all the details and tell me; that way, I know how to help you."

Qi Ling lightly bit Su Mo’s earlobe, "I know, I’m not stupid."

She opened the car door to get out, waving to Su Mo, "Remember to pick me up on time."

Su Mo nodded, "I’ll be waiting right here, not going anywhere."

Qi Ling waved goodbye to Su Mo and walked towards the entrance of the Hegemony Company.

Zhao Yiming had sent people to wait in the lobby early, taking Qi Ling straight to the vice president’s office on the 199th floor.

Seeing Qi Ling enter, Zhao Yiming greeted warmly, "Hey, right on time."

Not treating herself as an outsider, Qi Ling lay directly on the recliner by the tea table, stretching lazily, "Haven’t been back to the company for months, and I find myself kind of missing it, especially the daily afternoon tea."

Zhao Yiming clapped and laughed, "I knew you’d miss it, so I’ve prepared it for you."

"Click." He snapped his fingers, and the secretary pushed a dining cart in.

The dining cloth lifted to reveal an exquisitely stacked silver tray. Brightly colored macarons arranged neatly on top, accompanied by fruit and chocolate-decorated cakes. The freshly brewed black tea was clear and aromatic, steam rising from the spout bringing a fragrant aroma.

Aside from the tea and cakes, the most noticeable thing on the top tray was a strange black capsule.

Qi Ling: "What is this capsule?"

Zhao Yiming smiled and in a calm tone, said something chilling: "Poison."

Qi Ling: "Oh~"

She casually picked up the black capsule, put it into the teacup, and poured black tea over it to dissolve it.

Then, she lifted the cup filled with poison and tea.

With interest, Zhao Yiming asked, "Aren’t you going to ask about it; just going to drink?"

Qi Ling raised the teacup in a toast to Zhao Yiming, amber eyes full of smile, "If it’s on a tray it’s edible, isn’t it?"

With that said, she brought the cup to her lips and slowly drank, not spilling a drop.

Zhao Yiming’s gaze was like admiring a perfect artwork, filled with appreciation, "You know, what I admire most about you is you always know what to do, never wasting anyone’s time."

Qi Ling crossed her slender legs on the tea table, lazily saying, "I’m not as good as you say. I’m actually quite annoying, often clinging to Mo Mo all day."

"But I wouldn’t dare waste President Zhao’s time, considering we only have 8 hours to catch up."

Zhao Yiming’s tone became lighter, "Alright, I’ll be direct. What you just ingested is code-named ’Silencer,’ a poison newly developed by the company’s chemical department."

"It has a one-month toxin activation cycle, fatal when it activates, but can be delayed with specific medication."

"Every month, remember to return to the company; I’ll provide you with medication to delay the toxin."

"Rest assured, as long as our relationship doesn’t get awkward, you will have a lifetime of safety."

At this, Zhao Yiming revealed a deep smile, "By the way, to avoid wasting time and resources on futile efforts, here’s a tip."

"I know Edge has a fantastic engineer who was once a top scholar at the Capital Royal Academy, named Future, responsible for Edge’s technology."

"But trust me, she cannot develop an antidote for the Silencer. Of course, you’re free to let her try, but I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s truly a waste of time."

Qi Ling shrugged, "But you know, when I return, I’ll surely tell Su Mo about this, and he’ll definitely have Future try."

"Hahahaha!" Zhao Yiming clapped and laughed heartily, his expression filled with joy, "Qi Ling, I really regret not keeping you at the company. Talking to you is incredibly refreshing."

He got up and headed towards the door, beckoning Qi Ling, "Come on, let’s wrap up early and get you home sooner."

The two descended together in the elevator to the 167th floor, chatting and laughing as if the poison incident hadn’t occurred, like old friends catching up after a long time.
