Chapter 316: Monkey Mayhem 2

As Violet went off to go and fight against the rhino like beast lord, Luna turned to face off against the overgrown monkey swinging towards them through the trees.

She squinted her eyes and carefully observed the beast, taking note of how it moved and trying to figure out as much about it as she could from a distance.

The lead beast was naturally the Lord leading its troops. It was quite the specimen, standing almost 8 meters tall and built like an oversized chimpanzee. Yet it had three long muscular tails that acted as additional limbs, the beast used them to grab onto branches and push off the tree trunks.

It was remarkably mobile considering its size. The monkeys also seemed to be covered in a rock like shell of some kind, obviously designed to provide impressive defensive capabilities to the beasts.

Not wanting to allow the Lord to get any closer to their tier 3 wards Luna begin to move forwards. She opted to stay in her beast form for this battle, wanting to get more familiar with combat whilst like this.

Whilst she had some experience fighting as a beast, she was much more familiar fighting as a humanoid, a weakness that she was determined to rectify during this stretch of their journey.

Her lith form surged through the forest, using the massive tree trunks as springboards to launch her at ever increasing speeds towards the giant monkey.

The Lord naturally noticed the approaching leopard and its casual movements shifted into one that allowed for rapid repositioning at a moments notice.

Yet that was not enough to prepair for a 8m long leopard appearing scant inches away from it with its claws already encased in razor sharp frigid ice.

The monkey tried to react, two of its tails whipped up in front of it whilst the last one held onto the branch it was using, its arms also moved up to launch a counter punch.

Yet whilst its reactions were stellar, it was not prepared or expecting the sunned void step. As such Luna’s ice encased claws slammed into the thick rocky armour that covered the beasts chest area, but the claws did not punch through, only leaving deep scratches in the armours surface.

Still the force of that attack was not to be denied, built up from rapid movements and backed by over 550 points in agility, Luna was able to move at incredible speeds.

All of that momentum had been transferred directly into the chest of the beast lord.

Its tails were smashed aside, a screeching boom rang out and the beast body bowed backwards as it was launched straight down towards the ground a good 30 meters down.

A cloud of debris and soil burst up from the impact point, quickly flying away and revealing a sizable crater wherein the monkey resided at the base of it.

However, the Beast Lord looked more surprised that truly pained from that opening strike. Not to say that it was not hurt, it most definitely was, yet that single blow was not enough to take this foe down.

It shot to its feet a moment later, its eyes locked onto Luna’s body as she now clung to the side of the great tree with tendrils of ice keeping her in place.

The beast let out a hooting cry and the trees around Luna exploded in activity.

Monkeys of all shapes and sizes suddenly dove down towards Luna in a frenzied assult, they stung stones and large branches resembling clubs towards her in a somewhat coordinated attack.

Yet these were not tier 4 beasts, they were tier 3 at best, even some tier 2 beasts mixed in.

Luna did not truly even consider them a threat.

The area around Luna suddenly dropped to sub arctic temperatures, the trees and branches within a 20 meter radium of her instantly became covered in sheets of ice.

In addition to her psudo domain activating, several ice bolts formed around her, like hail being frozen in the air, except these pellets of hail were half the size of a human head.

As the closest of the lesser beasts got close enough to enter into the domain their bodies stiffened up due to the extreme cold, their breath was expelled from their chests and they slipped off whatever surface they tried to stand on.

Then the ice bolts shot out. Monkys all around Luna were targeted, focusing on those that had chosen to throw projectiles at her.

Heads exploded as the bolts impacted, torsos buckled inwards and limbs were torn off in a bloody display of overwhelming violence.

The assult lasted but for a handful of seconds, yet at the end of it over 30 tier 3 monkeys and below were falling to the ground below as corpses.

Those remaining monkeys in the trees skreeched in fear and turned around to flee.

Down below the Beast Lord watched on in quiet horror as it watched its kin be utterly slaughtered due to its own commands.

It stood frozen for several moments as the mutilated bodies of its kin rained down around it.

Then it let loose a scream of rage.

It bent over and thrust its arms into the ground beneath it, when it pulled them back up it held a massive boulder between its arms.

With a mighty heave the beast threw the boulder towards Luna with impressive speed.

Only, what hope did a simple mundane rock have of hitting someone like Luna if she did not wish it to?

The answer was none.

She took a step and appeared on the ground besides the beast, her tail lashing out as a blade of ice formed over the limb. At the same time 3 other versions of Luna appeared arrayed around the beast, each one launching an attack of its own.

The monkey tried to defend, it raised its arms and flailed its tails, yet it was unable to block every attack sent its way and the attacks did not stop coming.

The frozen illusions danced in and out of range, swiping at the monkey one moment before leaping back the next instant, only to be replaced by yet another copy of Luna.

The monkey lashed out at any and every version of Luna that it could. Its thick arms encased in solid rocky armour whilst on its fists sharp protrusions jutted out, turning the beasts arms into makeshift spiked maces.

Luna steadily built up stacks of her passive with each hit that she landed, the sturdy armour that protected the monkey becoming covered in countless nice and cuts.

One of the monkeys fists connected with one version of Luna and that one instantly shattered into a rain of ice shards, yet that only provided the beast with a brief reprieve.

Then Luna was back on it.

The area around Luna was turning into a arctic tundra. The once loose soil underfoot now frozen solid as a layer of ice coated everything.

Tendrils of ice tried to climb up the monkeys legs, working to pin it to the ground and limit its mobility. Saddly the beast was too physically strong to be tied down easily.

More and more bolts of ice began to form in the area around the two combatants, they fell like hail in a continual barrage.

This overwhelming offensive was simply too much for the Beast Lord to handle. It had never experienced such overwhelming attacks, it had never had to deal with such an illusory foe either.

Next to none of its attacks could land, its anger grew with each missed swipe, its anger leading to it making more and more mistakes.

All the while, with each attack landed patches of the beasts hide and armour began to be infested with ice.

Soon not even the moneys prodigious strength was enough to push through the debilitating cold that was invading its very body.

Its movements began to slow, its reactions dulled and more attacks landed on its body and each attack that landed dealt just a touch more damage than the last.

Soon chunks of rocky armour were being torn away with each claw swipe, furrows being dug into exploded flesh and half frozen blood seeped out. The previously brown rocky hide now tainted crimson.

Eventually the beast could withstand no more.

Its body halted, its eyes grew dim and it swiftly collapsed down to the ground as the last vestiges of life escaped from the beasts body.

Luna stood to the side as she watched the death of the monkey, her breathing was even and a smile pulled at the corners of her lips. She had enjoyed that fight.

It was not often that she got the chance to just go ham against a big dumb brute, she found the experience to be quite chatartic and she made a mental note to herself to try seal out does like that again in the near future.

Then she checked the system notifications that awaited her and smiled.
