Chapter 192: Chapter 141: Feney, Help Me

Overall, Lin Mo was quite satisfied with the Blood Qi Blade Skill.

As for the minor self-inflicted damage... it was likely due to drawing on his Qi and Blood too much and too quickly. While this might be a headache for a typical Warrior, it was completely irrelevant to Lin Mo.

After all, he also held the Knight Profession. With the profession bonus, his Constitution had reached a terrifying 33 points!

The small amount of self-inflicted damage from this Skill was practically negligible in the face of such high Constitution.

Now that he had learned Blood Qi Blade, only the last and most significant Skill remained.

The Basic Meditation Method.

The name alone made it clear that this was one of the core Skills practically every Mage had to learn.

But the threshold for this Skill was also quite high. It was only the basic version, yet it was already an Excellent Level Skill. By that logic, wouldn’t the Intermediate and High Level versions be Epic or Legendary?

For an ordinary Mage, just obtaining the Scroll was incredibly difficult, let alone learning the Skill itself.

An Ordinary Level Magic Scroll was worth at least three hundred gold coins. An Excellent Level one would definitely break a thousand, and an Excellent Level one...

Lin Mo didn’t dare to imagine how expensive it could be.

Unfortunately, his current skill and power were far from what was required to craft Skill Scrolls. Otherwise, he could make a fortune just from that.

Getting back on track, Lin Mo calmed his mind and focused, carefully studying the contents of the Skill Scroll.

As expected, the Skill was exceedingly complex. It didn’t involve combining Magic Circuits like before, but instead required precise control over his Magic Power. It also demanded a mind free of distracting thoughts and intense concentration to enter the state of "Meditation."

The process was quite difficult. Controlling his Magic Power was one thing, but maintaining a clear, focused mind was a considerable challenge for a beginner.

This was the first time since arriving in this world that Lin Mo felt completely helpless while trying to learn a Skill.

He had no clear concept of what a "mind free of distracting thoughts" or "intense concentration" truly meant; he could only do his best to approximate it.

However, his habit of overthinking caused his mind to involuntarily wander the moment he closed his eyes, his thoughts growing more and more jumbled.

’How can I truly achieve a clear, focused mind?’

After more than an hour with no progress, Lin Mo decided to pause his research. He couldn’t figure out the trick, and forcing it would only be counterproductive. He figured he should let his brain relax and go on a little spending spree.

He left the Scroll in his room and went to find Shefilya and Ali. Coincidentally, their training session had just ended. Everyone was on board with the idea, and after grabbing Feney, they headed straight out to go shopping.

Lin Mo took all the money he had on hand and first paid a visit to the auction house.

As expected, the Skill Scroll had been sold for exactly 400 Gold Coins. This brought Lin Mo’s total funds to 1523 Gold.

Lin Mo already had a plan for this money—to buy Elemental Reagents!

Previously, he had obtained a Basic Flame Reagent in a Secret Realm, and after learning Magic, he drank it immediately, increasing his Fire Element Affinity.

The effect was quite noticeable. Combined with the Magic Stone embedded in his Secret Silver Gloves, Lin Mo could now learn and cast Fire Elemental Magic noticeably faster, and its power was relatively stronger.

And according to what Julian had said, Elemental Reagents didn’t conflict with each other. This meant that Lin Mo could buy and drink reagents of other Elements to increase his Affinity for them.

Limited by his current Magic Level, this Potion might not provide a huge boost for him right now, but its benefits were lifelong.

Even if he got a higher-level Elemental Reagent later, its effects would stack on top of the low-level one’s rather than overwriting it completely.

In other words, if he skipped the low-level reagent and went straight for an Intermediate or High Level one, the effects would be diminished.

Therefore, buying Elemental Reagents was a transaction with no downside, something that would benefit him for a long time to come.

For Lin Mo, this was probably the best use of his money at the moment.

As the group walked down the street, their exceptional looks attracted a lot of attention, even though they were dressed in casual clothes instead of their usual Adventurer gear.

Of course, between their calm and confident aura and Shefilya’s Maid uniform, it was clear to any onlookers that they were not to be trifled with. Thus, no one dared to approach and disturb them.

Like Lin Mo, Ali had also recently upgraded her equipment. Feney and Shefilya didn’t have anything they needed to buy either, so they were really just window shopping and buying some snacks along the way.

However, Shefilya would stop them from buying some of the foods that looked very unhealthy.

Walking, browsing, and eating their way through the streets, the group arrived at Madam Chacher’s Alchemy Shop.

Feney wiped the sauce from the corner of her mouth, her expression a little complicated as she looked at the shop before them.

If she hadn’t been accompanying Lin Mo, she most likely would not have come here of her own volition.

Pushing the door open, they were greeted by the familiar sound of a wind chime. Madam Chacher was napping on her recliner, just like any other afternoon, looking not at all like she was open for business.

It seemed most Alchemists were like this, more capricious than other shop owners.

Because they truly never had to worry about selling their goods.

"Auntie Chacher..."

Feney’s soft, sweet voice made the half-asleep Chacher’s eyes snap open, and she sat up straight in her recliner.

"It’s Little Feney! What brings you here?"

As she spoke, she casually glanced at the others as if they were an afterthought, with no intention of greeting them.

An awkward yet polite smile appeared on Feney’s face. "Mr. Lin Mo wants to buy something, so I came with him..."

Only then did Chacher reluctantly shift her gaze to Lin Mo, pursing her lips. "What do you want to buy?"

"Madam Chacher, I’d like to purchase some Elemental Reagents."

"Oh?"

Chacher raised an eyebrow. "Which Attributes?"

"Thunder Attribute and Earth Attribute."

Chacher paused for a moment. "Why are you buying so many... What Element do you specialize in?"

"Er... Flame, Ice, Earth, Wind, and Thunder?"

If he had enough money, Lin Mo would have bought one of every Attribute, of course.

Unfortunately, his pockets were light, so he could only choose two of them.

He chose the Thunder Element because its magic was quite powerful, and he also happened to have the very useful Thunder Strike Skill.

As for the Earth Element, that was an even more obvious choice. Ever since he’d figured out how to combine the Earth Shield Skill with the Knight Skills Shield Strike and Giant Shield Charge, it had become one of his most-used spells.

Chacher rubbed her temples. She subconsciously wanted to lecture him, but then she remembered the scene from his last visit and held her tongue.

’Afterwards, when I took a closer look at those two Scrolls, I discovered that some of the Spiritual Strength within them had been consumed.’

’In other words, in that short amount of time, that kid really did learn both of my spells...’

’For a normal person, focusing on a single Element is the correct path, but that might not be true for him.’

’With his talent, dabbling in other Elements while specializing in one probably won’t hurt. So, whatever. Let him do what he wants.’

Shaking her head, Chacher got up and rummaged around in the back room for a moment. She came out carrying a tray covered by a soft, expensive cloth, upon which rested two Potions.

One was purple, the other earthen yellow.

"Two Potions. 800 each. That’ll be 1600 Gold Coins."

She said, holding out her hand.

’That expensive?!’

Lin Mo was startled. He remembered that the Potion from Granny Julian had only cost 600, and the one he brought out of the Secret Realm had sold for 800 Gold Coins.

’Are things in the big city more expensive? Or...’

Lin Mo looked closely at the Potions before him and was secretly shocked.

Although his eye wasn’t as sharp or discerning as a professional Alchemist’s, he could still clearly see that Madam Chacher’s skill level was indeed much higher than Granny Julian’s. The effects of these two Potions were probably not much different from the one he had brought out of the Secret Realm.

He remembered Granny Julian saying that Potion had been the work of an Alchemy Master. If Chacher’s Potions were only a little bit worse than a Master’s, didn’t that mean her skill was very close to the Master level?

You have to understand, a Master-level Alchemist was equivalent to an Extraordinary Level Adventurer.

This seemingly unremarkable lady before him was actually a being close to the Extraordinary Level!

At this level, plus a small city premium, 800 really wasn’t too excessive.

Of course, it was still on the expensive side, so haggling was a must.

"Can you go any cheaper?"

Lin Mo asked bluntly.

Chacher didn’t seem surprised by this, and even seemed prepared. "For Little Feney’s sake, I’ll give them to you for 780 each. That’s the best I can do."

That was a whole 40 Gold Coins cheaper, a significant discount.

But the fact that she agreed so readily also meant it was far from her bottom line.

"Lady Chacherel, I’m a regular customer, aren’t I? A little cheaper? From now on, I’ll only buy from you."

"You have the nerve to bring that up?"

Chacher shot him a look. "You freeloaded two Magic Scrolls off me last time, and I haven’t even settled the score with you for that!"

"But you agreed to let me look at them..."

Lin Mo gave a slightly awkward smile and shamelessly continued to ask, "So, can you make it a bit cheaper?"

Even at 780 Gold Coins each, he couldn’t afford both.

"What do you think?"

"If you’re asking me, then of course you can."

Chacher’s retort was stifled by his answer, and she laughed in exasperation.

"No!"

’Alright, looks like it’s time to call for reinforcements.’

Lin Mo looked at Feney with a pleading gaze. At times like this, it was all up to her.

’Feney, help me!’

Feney had a troubled look on her face, but she couldn’t stand Lin Mo’s expectant, pleading eyes. She had no choice but to steel herself and look at Chacher.

"Um, Auntie Chacher, could you maybe..."
