Chapter 176: Chapter 136: Goblin Priest 2
There were far too many uncertainties involved.
This didn’t fit with the Goblins’ apparent desire to settle everything in one decisive battle today.
Furthermore, they hadn’t sent a large army, but rather a small, elite squad to apply pressure. A move like that seemed deliberately designed to lure Silver Moon Town’s experts away...
"Not good!"
Lin Mo suddenly realized something and said hurriedly, "Quick, we have to go back to the main defense line!"
Shefilya didn’t immediately understand his reasoning, but she didn’t ask questions. She simply chased after him, leaving the Assassin behind to stare blankly at their retreating figures.
"What did you figure out?"
Shefilya quickly caught up to Lin Mo and asked.
"The attack on the west flank is just a feint, its purpose is to draw attention. It would be even better if they could lure the experts from the main battlefield away... The Goblins’ true objective is most likely to make a move on the main battlefield. If I’m not mistaken, that Goblin Caster should be about to show up!"
Shefilya nodded, not questioning his judgment. She suddenly came to Lin Mo’s side, holding out a hand. "Hold on tight."
Lin Mo was stunned for a moment, then took her hand.
The next moment, the scenery before him blurred and changed rapidly, as if he were on a high-speed train.
The whistling wind rushed at them, and Lin Mo’s "Holy shit" was quickly drowned out by it.
The speed was so fast that his feet didn’t even have a chance to touch the ground; he was being pulled along like a kite.
In just a short while, they were back at the main front.
Shefilya stopped at the edge of the flank, and Lin Mo, who was behind her, crashed right into her. He was dizzy for a moment and gagged.
It was a good thing his Constitution was high, or he probably would have thrown up his lunch.
Shefilya remained silent, letting him lean on her. Lin Mo gradually recovered and finally looked at the battlefield before him.
Compared to before, the front line had been pushed back a great distance. The ground was covered with bodies—Goblins and human soldiers alike—piled on top of each other. The entire land was stained red with blood.
Large waves of Goblins were still charging, and there seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary.
’Was my judgment wrong?’
Lin Mo frowned slightly, carefully observing the battle.
Until Shefilya’s voice, tinged with a bit of coldness, suddenly reached his ears: "How long are you going to keep your hand there?"
Lin Mo looked down and realized that he had subconsciously draped his arm over her shoulder. His arm had naturally slid down, and then...
"Sorry, I didn’t notice."
’It really was hard to notice. If she hadn’t pointed it out, I wouldn’t have even known what my hand was touching.’
’I didn’t feel a thing.’
Shefilya’s gaze grew even colder. She clenched her fists, constantly reminding herself that this was a battlefield, and forcibly suppressed the urge to strike him.
"Anyway, let’s find the Association President first. I hope he didn’t fall for the trap."
After saying this, Lin Mo immediately set off towards the front.
Shefilya could only let out a cold snort and chase after him.
Lin Mo cut in from the flank of the battlefield. The Ordinary Goblins couldn’t stop him at all, and in a short time, he was back among the crowd.
He searched through the crowd for a moment and soon found the figure he was looking for.
Lin Mo strode up to him. "Glad to see you’re still here."
The Association President shook his head with a wry smile. "I was almost lured away... If the Lord hadn’t stopped me, I’d be on my way to the western front right now."
"So the plan is to pull back and defend?"
This meant that Silver Moon Town’s defensive line against the Goblin invasion had completely collapsed, and they could only retreat back into the town, using the walls as their final line of defense.
"There’s no other choice..."
Given the sacrifices and losses on the western front, such calm trade-offs are necessary in a large-scale war.
"Getting the main force to retreat safely is the most important thing right now."
The Lord had said this as well. In a war like this, retreating wasn’t as simple as just giving an order.
Especially when the enemy was pressing their advantage. They had to fight as they fell back. If their formation broke and was scattered by the enemy’s charge, it would no longer be a retreat—it would be a rout.
At that point, pursued by hordes of Goblins, Silver Moon Town’s casualties would be immense, and the town itself might even be breached in one fell swoop!
The Lord of Silver Moon Town was competent; at least for now, his command was orderly and methodical.
’But will things really be that simple?’
Lin Mo frowned and gazed into the distance.
Within the massive, dark tide of the Goblin Army, who knew what unknown dangers might be brewing in some unseen corner.
"Lin Mo!"
Just then, Ali, drenched in blood, appeared before him.
"Are you hurt?"
Lin Mo asked with concern.
Ali shook her head. "It’s all Goblin blood..."
In reality, she was injured, but she had drunk some Life Potion and had already recovered quite a bit.
"What about Miss Feney?"
This was the only time Shefilya’s voice ever betrayed any anxiety.
"Feney was sent back to rest early, along with some of the other wounded."
Needless to say, she must have pushed herself too hard again, using too much Magic.
Shefilya’s face was still filled with worry, but at least Feney’s safety was guaranteed, so she wasn’t overly anxious.
The soldiers and Adventurers were steadily retreating. The town’s Lord had already gone to the very front line with his personal guard to cover the retreat for everyone.
Lin Mo reckoned the Goblins must be getting anxious.
