Chapter 91: Chapter 91: The worries of Grandma Ghost_1

Ye You’s gaze was gentle and affectionate, using his soft claw to help Qin Sisi close her eyes, whispering, "Now, sleep well."

Qin Sisi curved the corner of her lips. She obediently kept her eyes closed, reaching out to hold Ye You’s paw, which was resting over her eyes. She fondled the soft fur on it as she gradually drifted off to dreamland.

Ye You looked at the childlike Qin Sisi, a little amused, but he neither had the heart nor the will to pull his paw back, so he carefully nestled next to her and lay down.

Ye You exhaled towards the ceiling light, and the light went off instantly, plunging the surroundings into peaceful darkness.

Ye You softly blinked his purple eyes, everything in front of him still exceptionally clear, without being obscured by the darkness. He let out a sigh, pushing down his worries and concerns.

At midnight, Ye You woke Qin Sisi. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Qin Sisi promptly sat up, rubbing her eyes.

With a touch of tenderness, Ye You said, "You’ve had a hard time."

Qin Sisi chuckled and said, "Why so polite?"

Deep emotions swam in Ye You’s eyes as he reached out a paw to ruffle Qin Sisi’s hair.

Slightly shy, Qin Sisi glanced at Ye You and calmed the throbbing in her heart. She quickly got out of bed, tidied her clothes and the bed, called Lin Xiaoyu, and told him to come over.

Soon after, there was a knock on the door.

Qin Sisi opened the door to let Lin Xiaoyu in, and then quickly shut it - it would be best if no one unrelated saw what was about to happen.

Once everything was ready, Qin Sisi turned to Lin Xiaoyu, "I will show you what you want to see, but I hope you will keep this a secret. After all, the world mostly believes in science. I don’t want to be treated as a monster."

Lin Xiaoyu immediately agreed, "I understand. I just want to confirm."

Qin Sisi nodded, and added, "Just watch what happens, no matter what you see, stay calm."

"I will," Lin Xiaoyu’s expression was resolute.

Qin Sisi pointed to a stool in the corner of the room. Lin Xiaoyu nodded and went over to sit. The center of the room was now vacant.

Qin Sisi gave Ye You a signal, Ye You nodded slightly in acknowledgment. He deliberately blinked several times in Lin Xiaoyu’s direction, releasing two very faint streams of purple light from his eyes, which fell on Lin Xiaoyu’s glasses.

Right after, Ye You flicked a paw, a faint shadow leaped out from it, and softly landed on the ground.

"Oi...I’m old you know...right at this age, you had to lock me in a small bottle. My bones are about to fall apart..." the shadow babbled the moment it hit the ground.

Qin Sisi slightly smiled, her voice gentle yet icy, "Grandma, where are you from?"

Lin Xiaoyu’s glasses had been imbued with a sliver of Spiritual Power, which could enable him to see ghosts. He looked wide-eyed at the room’s floor. In the middle of the room stood a short old woman in her seventies.

The old woman was dressed in a long deep-blue gown, embroidered with wave patterns on the cuffs and hem, resembling a shroud. Her petite body made the large gown look ill-fitting.

Lin Xiaoyu’s heart beat faster. Could this old woman be the "ghost" that Qin Sisi mentioned?

The Grandma ghost squinted her wrinkled eyes and scrutinized Qin Sisi for a few minutes. She said, "Girl, it was you who got me off that lady, right? Oh, you girl are so young yet, why not soften your heart! Literally all this old woman wanted was to find some food, was it necessary to lock me up?"

Qin Sisi was taken aback, before she could say anything, she was scolded by the one in the wrong. Truly, "the thief crying ’stop thief’", she thought.

"Meow!" Ye You let out a deep, loud growl towards the Grandma ghost.

Frightened, the Grandma ghost stumbled back a couple of steps and said hesitantly, "Girl, your cat is so fierce! It’s practically going to scare me to death!"

Coldly, Qin Sisi responded, "Grandma, you’re already dead."

Embarrassed, the Grandma ghost awkwardly laughed, "Dear, seeing that you’re the one who let me out, I won’t stay here any longer. I will go now."

Qin Sisi’s Mahogany bracelet only unleashed its annihilating power in direct contact with ghosts. If a ghost went near Qin Sisi with ill intent, the bracelet would automatically protect her.

Grandma ghost was around three meters away from Qin Sisi, and had no intentions of harming her. She could only faintly sense the blood aura, which suppressed ghosts, surrounding the bracelet, making her uncomfortable. But what she feared even more was that black cat – with its pair of icy-cold, purple eyes, filled with a leisurely and frivolous air. It seemed she, a fleeting spirit, had become the cat’s prey.

Having said her piece, the Grandma ghost aimed to drift away.

Ye You swished a paw, and quick as lightning, the golden light of a chain shot forth. It wrapped tightly around the Grandma ghost in an instant.

Struggling slightly, the Grandma ghost pleaded pitifully to Qin Sisi, "Young girl, this old woman was just hungry and wanted to find some food. I never planned to harm anyone...wah wah wah..."

The Grandma ghost, while speaking, actually started sobbing. Her cry was sorrowful and pitiful, yet not a single tear came from her dry as a well eyes.

Qin Sisi’s lips curved in a chilling smile. As the saying goes, ’Old fox knew every trick’, this grandma seemed to be using them all.

Qin Sisi stepped forward and looked at the wrinkled, pitiable Grandma ghost, gently asking, "Grandma, I have no intention of hurting you. As long as you answer my questions honestly, we can discuss about anything."

Upon hearing this, the Grandma ghost stopped crying, her voice trembled, "Alright, ask your questions, girl. After all, be it in life or death, I’ve never committed any great evil. I have nothing to fear."

Her words carried a huff of bravado. Softening her tone, Qin Sisi asked, "Grandma, are you from a nearby village?"

Grandma ghost nodded, "Yes, I’m from the neighboring village. I passed away last year."

Lin Xiaofang had mentioned before that Mother Lin’s ghost possession had begun when she visited a farm near the neighboring village’s cemetery.

Qin Sisi then asked, "Why did you possess Mother Lin?"

After a moment of thought, the Grandma ghost said, "You’re talking about that lady, right? Oh...It’s my cursed fate! After I died last year, following the 37th day ritual, my son and daughter-in-law left for work. They didn’t even burn offerings for me on the 50th day. They did come to see me during New Year and gave me a little money to spend. After that, Qingming Festival, Ghost Festival – they didn’t come once. Down there, I was cold, hungry, and poor."

As the Grandma ghost spoke, she began crying again, this time seemingly with genuine sadness.

Through her sobs, the Grandma ghost continued, "The day that lady visited, it happened to be my first death anniversary. I wanted to see if there were any offerings or money. Who knew that this son of a...didn’t even come to see me on my first death anniversary! I was hungry, so I wanted to find some food from that lady and then, somehow, I got in."
