Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Ghost Possession_1

Although Lin Xiaoyu’s words were profound, Qin Sisi understood what he was trying to convey.

Lin Xiaoyu had just had a brush with death, which had triggered some mental fright. On top of that, he was provoked by Comrade Xiaoli’s talk about ghostly revenge. It shocked his materialistic beliefs and by now, he should have believed in the existence of ghosts.

But given his cheerful smile, it seemed like he wasn’t afraid.

Many people aren’t afraid of ghosts because they don’t believe in them. If they still aren’t afraid despite believing, that’s a sign of true fearlessness.

At this moment, a song sprung to life, sounding beautiful despite the unsettling late-night emptiness of the grand waiting room that housed only a few people.

Lin Xiaoyu apologised to Qin Sisi with a glance, took out his cellphone from his pocket, and directly answered the call.

After a few words, Lin Xiaoyu suddenly stood up, his face drastically changing.

He finally hurriedly ended the call by saying, "Okay, I got it, I’ll be right back."

After hanging up, Lin Xiaoyu rushedly told Qin Sisi, "Fortunately, we didn’t leave today. My mother’s illness has flared up again. I have to rush back immediately."

Seeing his urgent expression, Qin Sisi quickly replied, "Okay, you should go immediately."

Lin Xiaoyu nodded and said "goodbye" before heading toward the exit of the waiting room. He walked a few steps but then stopped and turned to ask Qin Sisi hesitantly, "Sisi... have you ever heard of ghost possession? Do you think such a thing can really happen?"

Qin Sisi’s eyelids jumped. She approached Lin Xiaoyu and quietly asked, "Do you mean to say... your mother is possessed by a ghost?"

The expression on Lin Xiaoyu’s face was twisted. After a moment of silence, he finally uttered, "That’s what the old folks in the village say. I originally didn’t believe it and thought it must be some kind of illness. So I took a few days off to take my mother to the hospital for a check-up. We spent a few days in the hospital, no unusual events occurred, and the doctor said there was no major issue, so we discharged yesterday. I prepared for work, assured, but who would have thought..."

Qin Sisi understood immediately and completed his sentence, "Who would’ve thought that no sooner did you leave, her illness flared up again."

Lin Xiaoyu slowly nodded, his brows furrowed, his hands alternately clenched into fists and then releasing. He was quite conflicted and unsure of what to make of the situation.

Qin Sisi considered that if it really was a case of ghost possession, she should probably pay a visit, she might find a ghost.

Just as Qin Sisi was about to speak, she suddenly felt Ye You, wrapped in her clothing, scratching at her stomach with its small claws. Apparently, Ye You shared her opinion.

Qin Sisi pretended to adjust her clothes, lightly pinched Ye You, and then turned to Lin Xiaoyu and said, "I think I should accompany you and take a look."

Lin Xiaoyu was slightly surprised, "You? No, no, no... that’s not possible."

He had just met this young girl and naturally didn’t want her to witness the distressing state of his family member.

Qin Sisi thought Lin Xiaoyu didn’t trust her, so she straightforwardly said, "Let me come and see. Maybe I can help."

"You..." Lin Xiaoyu was taken back, he looked Qin Sisi up and down.

Qin Sisi weighed her options and decided not to oversell, just in case his mother wasn’t actually possessed by a ghost.

So, Qin Sisi reasoned, "Given that you said I saved your mentality, you should see that there are indeed many things in the world that science can’t explain. If you truly care about your mother, you should try all the methods available."

Lin Xiaoyu fell silent for a moment and then asked, "I can try other methods, but why do you say that you can help? Could it be that you..."

Qin Sisi hesitated for a while, and then, grinding her teeth slightly, she firmly said, "I can catch ghosts."

Even though he had suspected something of the sort, when Qin Sisi fully admitted to it, Lin Xiaoyu was still shocked.

Even if he did believe in the existence of ghosts, in his impression, those who could catch ghosts were often elderly soothsayers or witches. Qin Sisi’s image didn’t match that description at all, being entirely unrelated to the phrase "catching ghosts."

But being a programmer, Lin Xiaoyu had a meticulous train of thought. He pondered for several minutes and asked Qin Sisi, "If you really have a special ability, can you tell me why I almost fell off the railway track?"

Qin Sisi furrowed her brow. This Lin Xiaoyu seemed polite and mild but he was a bit stubborn at times. If she didn’t clarify this matter, it was likely that he wouldn’t believe her.

Qin Sisi decided to tell him the truth. Looking around to confirm that no one was there, she spoke softly, "Your feeling was correct. It was a person, or rather, a ghost that pushed you."

Lin Xiaoyu widened his eyes and asked nervously, "What sort of ghost?"

Such relentless questioning!

Qin Sisi didn’t beat around the bush and directly answered, "A female ghost, wearing a white dress, remarkably beautiful."

Qin Sisi described the ghost lady’s attire and appearance, and then asked, "Do you know her?"

Lin Xiaoyu shook his head and replied, "I don’t remember."

Qin Sisi said, "If what Comrade Xiaoli said is true, then this female ghost must be the girl who died here ten years ago."

A glimmer of confusion passed through Lin Xiaoyu’s eyes, "Then it seems even more unrelated to me. If we have no grudges or grievances, why would she resort to hurting me?"

Qin Sisi thought a bit and then said, "For now, I can’t answer your question. But according to Comrade Xiaoli, her targets were all young men who walked alone in the train station at night."

Qin Sisi was also very curious about this beautiful ghost and couldn’t wait to have Ye You bring it out and ask it some questions. However, it was currently daytime and not conducive to a ghost’s manifestation. Moreover, there were people around with various prying eyes, so she had to bear the curiosity and wait until nighttime to act.

Lin Xiaoyu also fell into deep thought, after a while, he said "Such a strong targeting, it’s almost like the psychopathic killers written in books. Do you think, she might have been hurt by men before, hence the hatred?"

Lin Xiaoyu’s reasoning seemed to make a lot of sense, Qin Sisi nodded in agreement, "It’s possible."

Lin Xiaoyu further queried, "Now that she failed once, it’s highly probable that she will try to harm others again. Do you have any solutions?"

Qin Sisi hesitated, wondering whether she should tell Lin Xiaoyu about her having already captured the female ghost.

As she was conflicted, she suddenly felt motion in her clothes. A small shadow fell from the hem of her clothing to the ground, then swiftly jumped back into Qin Sisi’s arms, meowing a couple of times.

Qin Sisi was a mixture of anger and helplessness. How had Ye You managed to sneak out while they were still at the train station? But after hearing Ye You’s words, Qin Sisi’s face quickly hardened.
