Chapter 726: Chapter 726: Birdsong Forest Demonic Beasts Tide _1

However, discussing these matters with Ye You at this moment is premature. The most important task at hand is to safely deliver Ye You to Divine Dog City.

As Qing Xun thought about this, he poured the brewed tea into cups and pushed them in front of Ye You, Qin Sisi, and Yun Wang.

Yun Wang quickly picked his up and drank, Qin Sisi also took her cup, but Ye You did not move.

Prior, when Qin Sisi was taking on the form and behaviors of a cat, it seemed that she had adjusted to eating and sleeping as such. Now, eating and drinking with a cat’s body in front of his fellow students felt quite disgraceful.

Looking at Ye You, who remained stationary, Qin Sisi offered her cup of tea to him.

Ye You’s eyes flickered, and he gave Qin Sisi a long look. He dipped his head to accept her tea, drinking from the cup she held.

This was somewhat better, at least he didn’t have to dip down to the tea table.

Qing Xun and Yun Wang seemed to sense Ye You’s sadness, they intentionally averted their gaze and drank their tea in silence.

After a while, Qing Xun turned to Ye You and hesitated before asking, "Ye You, did you encounter Ya Ning at the Royal Palace?"

Ye You’s gaze darkened, he whispered back, "Yes, I saw her, she helped us escape. She’s the Regent Patroness now."

Understanding Ye You’s feelings about the situation, Qing Xun solemnly explained, "You shouldn’t blame her, you should be grateful. She obtained the information about your curse and potential transport to another world. She told us that you might return last night, otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to meet you."

Ye You gazed profoundly at Qing Xun, replying meaningfully, "I thought, perhaps, you would have a harder time accepting this than me. I didn’t expect you to take it so calmly."

Qing Xun paused for a moment, a wry smile tugged at the corner of his lips. He responded self-deprecatingly, "I have no right not to accept, I can only come to terms with it."

Having said that, Qing Xun lifted his cup and drained the tea in one gulp. It looked as if what he was drinking was not water but alcohol, a means to suppress his sorrow.

Qin Sisi watched Qing Xun’s strange reactions and movements, intuiting something from it.

She had noticed the change in Qing Xun’s voice. It was no longer the coarse, gruff voice from their initial meeting, it had become as clear and pure as Ye You’s. It seemed that he and Yun Wang had both disguised themselves while seeking Ye You.

The reason was obvious — to evade the eyes and ears of Tian Xiaozi.

The atmosphere in the carriage became somber, their carefree youth was slowly drifting away. They had to face the brutal realities of the world — bloody battles, survival of the fittest, betrayals, and changes of heart.

Suddenly, a burst of chaotic and eerie birdcalls echoed all around. The smooth carriage ride began to jolt violently, spilling some tea from their cups. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Qing Xun’s brow furrowed as he swept all the tea utensils into his storage ring with a flick of his sleeve. He secured the tea table to the side wall and then lifted the heavy curtain of the carriage, asking in a low voice, "Jun Ying, what is happening?"

The coachman called Jun Ying responded in a tense voice, "Young Master, it appears that we have encountered a surge of Demonic Beasts."

"A surge of Demonic Beasts?" Qing Xun’s face changed color. He turned to face Ye You and Yun Wang, puzzlingly asked, "Why would there be a surge of Demonic Beasts happening now? It’s only been a few years since the last one."

During a surge of Demonic Beasts, countless beasts, large and small, of all species, gather and rush in one direction. Their passage leaves behind only death.

Weaker juvenile beasts often perished from exhaustion or panic in the stampede.

Wang City was surrounded by a vast, dense forest. Extending hundreds of kilometers, the forest was home to millions of beasts. Because the beasts in this forest were primarily birds, the area was known as the Birdsong Forest.

Usually, a surge of Demonic Beasts wouldn’t occur. It only happened when the forest’s master beast perished unexpectedly and other powerful beasts competed for the dominant position. In the fight for domination, the surrounding beasts would flee, leading to a surge.

However, as the master beast of the forest, it wouldn’t die so easily. According to the records, there should be a surge of Demonic Beasts in their dwelling every twenty years on average.

Yet, as Qing Xun had mentioned, it had only been a few years since the last surge.

After a brief thought, Ye You explained, "There’s another possibility. Someone might have entered the Birdsong Forest and used magic to drive the beasts forth, creating the surge."

While the bodies of the Demonic Beasts were formidable, their intelligence was lacking. When they see a large number of other beasts rushing in panic, they’d likely follow in confusion.

The surge caused by humans, though not as vast as those spontaneously occurring within the beasts, was still a considerable destructive force.

Hearing the rapid approach of bird cries, the carriage began to resonate with a ’woo woo’ sound, as if countless wings were flapping, creating an irresistible gust of wind.

Without any further hesitation, Qing Xun opened the carriage curtain and told Jun Ying, "Jun Ying, we’re going to hold back the surge of Demonic Beasts."

Then, he turned to Yun Wang, "Yun Wang, take the reigns. Get them out of here, make sure you safely deliver them to Divine Dog City."

"Understood," responded Yun Wang assertively, an audacious spirit emanating from his features. He briskly moved into the coachman’s seat.

"Qing Xun!" Ye You suddenly called out, extending a petite paw to him, "Thank you."

Qing Xun responded with a carefree smile, reaching out to grasp Ye You’s paw, stating firmly, "Believe in me, we’ll definitely have the opportunity to fight side by side again."

Afterwards, Qing Xun stepped down from the carriage, and slowly spreading his arms, summoned his magic power. Giant light blue wings emerged from his back.

Flapping his wings, Qing Xun moved to confront the oncoming surge of Demonic Beasts.

Jun Ying didn’t summon wings, instead, he started to run, his speed rivaled the swift wind.

Seeing Qing Xun and Jun Ying leave, Yun Wang immediately shouted to his Green Scale Horses, "Go!", urging them to run perpendicular to the direction of the oncoming surge.

From their current situation, the surge seemed man-made and wouldn’t be too great. As long as they outran the Demonic Beasts ’ territory before the surge arrived, they would be safe.

It wasn’t long before the frenzied surge of Demonic Beasts appeared before Qing Xun. The majority of the beasts were winged birds, but on the lowest level, several crawling and gnawing beasts could also be seen. However, the most challenging to deal with were the large bird Demonic Beasts flying in the upper levels.

As Qing Xun’s figure moved sideways towards the place where the Green Scaled Chariot was retreating, he mobilized all the magic power within his body and resolutely shouted, "Azure Dragon Cloud Shield!"

As he swept his arms in a circle and spread them out on either side, an enormous shield, shimmering with the luster of water, formed before him. Two writhing azure dragons swam inside the shield, issuing a series of majestic roars.
