Qin Sisi managed to smile a little and replied, "I respect your decision."

Just as they jumped in through the window, a voice came from the living room, "You’re back."
Qin Sisi was startled and quickly turned on the light. Seeing it was Lan Di standing in the living room, she felt relief.
"What brings you here?" Qin Sisi was surprised at Lan Di’s sudden visit.
Lan Di looked rather odd, completely devoid of his usual carefree, playful disposition. He looked serious and said, "I need to ask you for a favor."
Qin Sisi exchanged a glance with Ye You and said to Lan Di, "It’s almost four in the morning, you can’t stay here in the human world any longer. Come back tomorrow evening!"
Lan Di stubbornly shook his head, "No, I can’t wait anymore. I have to ask you now. I know the black cat has a way to ensure my safety."
Qin Sisi frowned at the serious look on Lan Di’s face, very unlike his usual self. She wondered if this had something to do with Pei Pei. Hadn’t they said that once the love potion lost its effect, Lan Di would completely forget about Pei Pei?
"You have one minute left." As Qin Sisi was contemplating, Ye You looked at Lan Di and spoke, reminding him that he could turn to ashes in the next second if he didn’t leave.
Lan Di stood firm, ignoring the warning, his expression resolute.
Ye You sighed lightly, raised his paw to draw a sigil in the air, and cast it onto Lan Di, allowing him to safely stay in the human world during the day.
"You win." Ye You muttered softly, his gaze on Lan Di was complex.
"Have a seat!" Now that Ye You had given his consent, Qin Sisi stopped any further discussion, and invited Lan Di to have a seat on the sofa.
She tidied her hair which had been tousled by the night wind, sat down at the other end of the sofa with Ye You in her arms, looked at Lan Di and asked, "What’s the matter? Go ahead."
Lan Di, whose eyes were usually sparkling, spoke in a dull tone, "Someone told me that there used to be a girl always by my side. Do you know that?"
Seeing a change in Qin Sisi’s expression, she neither nodded nor objected, feeling a bit guilty under Lan Di’s inquiring.
Lan Di caught the change in Qin Sisi’s expression and continued, "You know, don’t you? Please tell me then, why can’t I remember anything about the girl? Why don’t I have any memory of her at all?"
After a moment of silence, Qin Sisi spoke, "Since you have completely no recollection, no memory left, why do you need to ask? Knowing might be worse than not knowing."
Lan Di shook his head, speaking in a low voice, "My heart feels empty, as if I’m missing something important. So I know that girl must be important to me. But why would I forget such an important person? I know you know the reason, can you tell me?"
Lan Di stared intently at Qin Sisi, seeking a definite answer from her.
