Chapter 671: Chapter 671: Love You Enough to Kill You_1

"Are you Luo Wei’s husband?" Qin Sisi asked softly, already sensing that things were more complicated than she had imagined.

The young man did not answer, only glaring coldly at Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi felt a slight nervousness. It was her first time seeing a ghost with such a gaze.

However, she quickly collected herself, staring back at the ghost with an equally cool gaze, guessing the story that had unfolded in his life.

Just then, Ye You hopped off Qin Sisi’s shoulder, strolling over to a broken statue. It fished out a red string from the neck of the statue.

Ye You gripped the string as it hopped back onto Qin Sisi’s shoulder. It mewed a few times into her ear, conveying some information to her.

Qin Sisi nodded, pinching the red string as she asked the ghost, "Do you know what this red string does?"

The ghost’s expression shifted several times before he replied in a defeated tone, "I know."

Qin Sisi tossed the string to one side, speaking calmly, "I’ve helped free you from that statue. Don’t you have anything you want to say to me?"

The ghost remained silent, his gaze gradually falling upon the ghastly red string.

The string had been soaked in black dog blood, then tied around his neck in a peculiar knot, preventing his soul from leaving his body.

The ghost took a deep sigh, admitting, "You’re correct, I am Luo Wei’s husband. I was trapped inside the statue by that red string for a year."

Qin Sisi asked in a grave tone, "Who killed you?"

Even though she already had her suspicions, she still wanted to confirm her judgement.

The ghost took a while before replying, "It was my wife, Luo Wei."

So it was her indeed!

Qin Sisi immediately inquired further, "Why did she kill you? And why make you into a statue?"

The corner of the ghost’s mouth curled into a bitter smile. In a hoarse voice, he croaked, "Why? I’d like to know too. We were so happy. She said she’d love me forever..."

Seeing the ghost’s anguished and bewildered expression, Qin Sisi was reminded of Luo Wei’s mysterious smile. The smile was void of any emotion – no joy or sadness, love or hate. It was profound, dark, and indifferent.

There is a type of person in this world who doesn’t need a reason to kill.

Could Luo Wei be that type of person?

Glancing uneasily at the peculiarly expressive statues around her, Qin Sisi shuddered. "There aren’t bodies hidden in the other statues too, right?" she asked Ye You in a low voice.

Before Ye You could answer, the ghost who heard Qin Sisi’s voice, replied first, "There shouldn’t be. I saw many of these statues when I was alive. Luo Wei created them using normal methods."

Ye You cast a casual glance at the ghost before jumping down from Qin Sisi’s shoulder. It inspected the other statues, circling each one, then hopped back to Qin Sisi’s shoulder and shook its head, indicating, "No, they’re all normal statues."

Qin Sisi furrowed her brows slightly. So, Luo Wei had only killed her husband?

Normally, if someone only kills once, there should be a reason.

After contemplating for a bit, Qin Sisi asked the ghost in a low voice, "Did you do something to hurt her that led her to kill you?"

The ghost vehemently shook his head, replying with a pained expression, "I didn’t. Really, I didn’t. I was so in love with her. She looked enchanting when she was sculpting."

"I still remember when we were in university. I had gone to the Fine Arts department to find a friend. That was when I first saw her. She was sculpting, bathed in sunlight streaming in from the window. Her skin was as if it was glowing."

"She wasn’t extraordinarily beautiful, but her concentrated demeanor captivated me. Afterwards, I began courting her. After we got together, I found her to be very gentle and obedient. I swore I would love and cherish her forever."

"I swear that I did absolutely nothing to wrong her. Yet, why did everything change overnight?"

"For the entire year that I was trapped, I spent every moment wondering why all this had happened. But, no matter how hard I thought, I couldn’t figure out a reason."

With his hands clasped around his head, the ghost began shivering uncontrollably, torn between fear and confusion. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Seeing the ghost’s emotional state, Qin Sisi decided to change the topic. She asked gently, "You were in the Sports Department, right? Seeing you run, you looked quite professional."

It took a while before the ghost calmed down and answered, "Yes, I was a sprinter in the Sports Department of XX University."

Qin Sisi nodded, realizing why the statue had such an athletic physique and professional running posture.

She continued, "What’s your name?"

"Han Zhenjiang." The ghost said his name in a wooden tone.

Qin Sisi asked in a clear voice, "Han Zhenjiang, now that your soul is free, do you have any plans for the future?"

Han Zhenjiang shook his head in bewilderment, "I don’t know. The year I spent trapped in the sculpture has left me feeling very unfamiliar and afraid of this world. The same people who claim to love you might just kill you in the next second."

"I had resigned myself to being trapped in this statue indefinitely. Now that I’m suddenly free, I don’t know what to do."

Seeing Han Zhenjiang, Qin SiSi said gravely, "Han Zhenjiang, I am a Mage, in need of Soul Power. Could you part with your Soul Power and give it to me? In exchange, I could help you fulfill a wish."

Han Zhenjiang seemed surprised. He stared at Qin Sisi for a moment before lowering his gaze to the shattered statue at his feet. He did not answer.

Qin Sisi probed, "Do you hate Luo Wei? If you want revenge, I can help you."

Han Zhenjiang stayed silent for a very long time before shaking his head slightly, "I did hate her at first. I hated that she let me down. Over time however, my hate began to dissipate. Every night, she would place my statue in her bedroom and sleep beside it. When we were alone, she would often embrace and kiss me, telling me she loved me very much. I... I don’t want to hurt her."

Qin Sisi opened her mouth in surprise. Could Luo Wei really have done this? These actions seemed genuinely motivated by love.

But if she really loved Han Zhenjiang, why did she kill him?

Han Zhenjiang saw Qin Sisi’s surprise and continued, "I know you don’t believe me, but everything I’ve said is true. Her expressions, her eyes, they all said she loved me. Eyes can’t deceive."

After some pondering, Qin Sisi asked slowly and clearly, "Do you think what she loved was actually you, or the statue she made out of you?"

Han Zhenjiang shivered, his expression a mix of terror and confusion, "What do you mean?"
