Chapter 669: Chapter 669: The Most Perfect Work_1

Looking at the sculptor with the faint smile, Qin Sisi was once again filled with unease. Something about that emotionless smile was unsettling.

She shook her head, suppressing her feelings for now. Gathering her spirits, she walked into the gallery, preparing herself to view Luo Wei’s sculpture exhibition.

The gallery was filled with numerous works by the female sculptor, Luo Wei. Qin Sisi counted them—twenty in total, no more, no less.

The pieces were mostly figurative, and each was embodied with a distinct sense of motion.

For instance, there was a sculpture of a girl playing shuttlecock, the upper body of a swimming athlete, a sportsman swinging a baseball bat, a classical dancer with her dress billowing...

Those were the more normal ones, but there were some odd ones too, two of which seemed a bit dark to Qin Sisi.

One was titled "Fei Xiang". It was a girl with flowing hair, her feet on a windowsill. Her body was leaning forward with her arms spread, as if about to take flight.

But of course, humans can’t really fly, so Qin Sisi felt a more appropriate title might be "Jumping Off a Building".

The work captured the exact moment before the girl’s fall. It gave an impression as if she was flying, however, the next moment would be her plummet into the abyss, her body shattered, blood everywhere.

Yet, the girl in the sculpture was smiling—a calm and mysterious smile, much like that of its creator, Luo Wei. It was as if she wasn’t facing a horrific death but a wonderful rebirth.

The other piece that made Qin Sisi uncomfortable was that of a seemingly deranged girl.

Her head was tilted back slightly, hands tightly covering her ears and cheeks, her mouth widely agape. You could even see her tongue as if she was screaming her lungs out. Her knees were flexed, her short hair a mess and her expression crazy.

This sculpture was named "Spiritual Power".

Qin Sisi knit her eyebrows together, Spirit? Whose spirit?

Theoretically, art pieces embody the thoughts and emotions of the creator. So, if there were indeed a spirit, it should be that of the creator.

Could this crazed girl represent the spirit of the female sculptor, Luo Wei?

The answer was unknown.

Qin Sisi continued on, finally coming face to face with the piece displayed on the large screen outside the building.

Upon closely inspecting this piece called "My Love", she could sense even more of the dedication and intricacy of the creator. Even the phrase "meticulously crafted" felt insufficient to describe it.

Next to the sculpture was a written introduction, indeed, the note mentioned that Luo Wei considered this her most perfect piece.

The reason why the sculpture of the running man was called "My Love" was also explained. Apparently, when Luo Wei was preparing to create this piece, her husband passed away unexpectedly. As a result, Luo Wei modeled the sculpture after her husband’s photo. She named the piece "My Love", reflecting her deep love and longing for him.

Standing in front of this piece for what seemed like an eternity, Qin Sisi suddenly detected a strange, tart and pungent smell.

She glanced at the closed windows, wondering if it was due to poor ventilation in the gallery.

Not giving it too much thought, she moved towards a quiet corner and whispered to the backpack she was carrying, "Xiao Hei, I found nothing. Should we leave?"

A low voice emanated from the bag. "Let me out."

Qin Sisi hesitated momentarily, then carefully opened her bag. The figure of Ye You appeared, then immediately disappeared.

He had become invisible again?

Just as Qin Sisi was about to ask Ye You why, she felt a weight on her shoulder and knew that Ye You had climbed up onto it.

"Carry me around for a bit," Ye You said softly. There was no one around, so he dared to speak. He had wanted to come out as soon as they entered the gallery but refrained because he wasn’t sure about the environment.

Qin Sisi nodded, holding Ye You as she once again toured the exhibition hall and viewed each of the twenty lifelike and varied sculptures.

They stopped again in front of the final piece, "My Love". After examining the piece for a long time, Ye You whispered into Qin Sisi’s ear, "There’s something wrong with this sculpture."

Startled, Qin Sisi quickly asked, "What’s wrong?"

Ye You was about to reply when he noticed two people approaching. Without uttering a word, he hopped back into the backpack.

Qin Sisi zipped up her backpack and left the gallery. On her way out, she cheerfully asked the security guard at the entrance, "What time does the exhibition close tonight?"

The guard replied politely, "It closes at eight in the evening."

Qin Sisi nodded, then asked, "Does Ms. Luo Wei live here?"

The guard’s expression changed instantly as he curtly replied, "Miss Luo does not accept interviews."

Qin Sisi blinked, realizing that he had mistaken her for a journalist.

Seeing the guard’s guarded expression, she knew that she wouldn’t get any further information from him. She thanked him and left, taking the elevator down with her backpack.

As she walked out of the grand skyscraper, Qin Sisi looked back at the large screen above. Now that Ye You also said that there was a problem, it appeared that they would have to visit again tonight.

After checking into a nearby hotel, Qin Sisi opened her backpack and brought out Ye You.

"What do you think is wrong with that sculpture?" Qin Sisi asked in anticipation.

Ye You hesitated slightly and said, "There’s a faint wave of spiritual power inside the sculpture, although extremely weak, I can’t be sure if it’s a ghost."

Qin Sisi responded with a smile on her face. "That’s okay, we’ll check it out tonight. As long as there’s a ghost, we will definitely find it."

Looking at the confident Qin Sisi, Ye You’s eyes shimmered as he said with a hint of amusement, "You seem quite happy."

Qin Sisi nodded and replied, "Yes, I am very happy. I happened to come across a photo of the female sculptor and found her smile quite odd. I never expected that it would lead me to a clue about a ghost. But it’s your credit too. If not for your encouragement to dig deeper, I might have dismissed my suspicions and not taken this matter seriously."

No, no no," Ye You responded modestly. "The credit goes to you. A woman’s intuition indeed is sharp. I can’t compete."

They looked at each other for a moment, both breaking into laughter.

The sculpture exhibition was indeed an unexpected find. However, Ye You cautioned Qin Sisi not to get her hopes up. The presence of spiritual energy might not necessarily mean there’s a ghost; it might be something else with a spiritual nature.

Qin Sisi said she was prepared. If nothing came up at the art exhibition, she intended to pay a visit to the famous female sculptor - Luo Wei.
