Chapter 577: Chapter 577: God’s Kingdom_1

The sky is vast, the wilderness broad, the wind blows low on the grass and unveils cattle and sheep.

Clearly, it was a sight that would gladden the heart, yet for Xiao Lian, his life in front of him was only dreary and mundane, causing an immense sense of boredom.

Having lost his mother at a young age, the absence of maternal love made this handsome young man increasingly reticent. His greatest hobby was playing video games, finding temporary satisfaction and accomplishment in the virtual world of slaying opponents.

When his father suddenly fell ill, Xiao Lian, whose academic performance was lackluster, chose to drop out of school, stay home, manage the farm, herd sheep, raise cattle, and shovel cow dung.

Despite leaving other options behind and staying to oversee the family farm, unfortunately, Xiao Lian wasn’t adept at this at all and failed in everything he tried.

Getting carried away with his games, he missed the optimal birthing time for the house cow, and the calf died.

His father requested him to rebuild a collapsed wall, which despite exerting great effort, he failed to do properly.

His father was constantly disappointed with him and kept nagging and sighing.

The monotony of life was increasingly bleak and unbearable, Xiao Lian sunk deeper into his game addiction, with no smile on his face.

Feeling hopeless, his father sought help from a friend who then sent his distant relative, a very capable nephew, to assist and also tutor Xiao Lian.

Thus, Bai Meng arrived at Xiao Lian’s house, tall and strong, with curly short hair and dark skin.

Their first meeting was not pleasant. Xiao Lian knew that this helper his father had brought in was a very capable guy, whose presence served only to underscore his own clumsiness and incompetence.

Bai Meng, disgruntled by Xiao Lian’s rejection and arrogance, kept his distance from him.

However, no matter how much they disliked each other, they still became work partners. Despite constant mutual grievances and sarcastic remarks during work, they managed to coexist.

However, Bai Meng was ultimately more mature, striving not to confront Xiao Lian. Under his efforts, the farm began to get better.

Xiao Lian persisted in his obsession with video games. He didn’t think about changing or the future. He wanted to continue in this state of confusion and dullness, being a shepherd no matter how tried he was.

However, Bai Meng, the loyal little angel, silently rescued Xiao Lian.

They went from initial mutual dislike to slowly accepting each other, helping each other, admiring each other, and eventually even becoming infatuated with each other.

No one knew when Cupid’s arrows of love were fired, but when they collided while chasing after the sheep flock and rolled around on the soft grassland, they found they could no longer tear their gaze away from each other.

Xiao Lian began to intentionally decrease his video game time and seriously started learning about farm management with Bai Meng.

Bai Meng also carefully discovered Xiao Lian’s talent for drawing, encouraged him to learn painting, and submit his works to magazine companies.

When Xiao Lian received his first fee for his work, he was overjoyed, continuously hugging and kissing Bai Meng.

Later on, Xiao Lian received an invitation from a comic company asking him to work and live in a big city.

After careful consideration, Xiao Lian courteously declined the comic company’s invitation and chose to stay on the vast prairie with Bai Meng.

Bai Meng stated that if Xiao Lian really wanted to go, he was willing to go with him.

But Xiao Lian didn’t dare to take the risk. Even though society had become very tolerant, he still wasn’t sure if they would face disruptions in the bustling crowd.

Moreover, he’d fallen in love with the grasslands of his hometown, the plains where he got acquainted with, got to know, and fell in love with Qing Meng.

This was their God’s Kingdom, a peaceful Eden Garden.

Everyone has a Brokeback Mountain in their heart, and everyone also has a place called God’s Kingdom in their heart.

Love is the attitude of a soul towards another soul, good love always promotes growth.

If you feel that you are becoming better and better, then what you’ve encountered is a good love.

Qin Sisi thought the matter of Qing Meng and Bai Lian was over, but it wasn’t.

The night after Qing Meng and Bai Lian had given up their Soul Power, a group of unwelcome visitors came.

The cold aura completely drove away the warmth of the late spring, and the temperature in the entire room plummeted. Qin Sisi, dressed only in a single shirt, couldn’t help shivering. Ignoring the ghosts in the room, she hurriedly put on a warm black windbreaker.

Then, Qin Sisi stood tall and upright opposite these ghost visitors, calmly asking, "What do you want to do?"

Ye You lay on the sofa, appearing lazy and casual, but his claws were already accumulating Magic Power, ready to launch an attack at any moment.

The two leading ghosts were over two meters tall, and Qin Sisi had to look up to see them.

Both ghosts had normal limbs, but their heads were very abnormal.

One had a wide face with a huge nose and two curved horns, looking very much like a bull.

The other had long ears pointing skyward and an elongated face, looking exactly like a horse.

Suddenly, Qin Sisi panicked: Could these be the legendary Horseface and Bull-head?

Just as she thought this, Horseface called out with a loud voice, "By the order of King Yama, we have come to capture the escaped ghost, Qing Meng. All unrelated people, get out of the way!"

Only then did Qin Sisi understand that they came for Qing Meng. These ghosts must be ghost officers from the underworld!

Lowering her eyes to consider for a moment, she calmly said, "This is my house, and only I live here. There are no ghosts, no Qing Meng. You’ve got the wrong place."

Horseface rudely replied, "Whether they are here or not is not up to you to decide, we will conduct a search."

"Please do." Qin Sisi nonchalantly replied before turning and sitting down on the sofa, calmly stroking the back of Ye You.

Horseface and Bull-head exchanged a glance, nodded, and then shouted to the ghost officers behind them, "Search!"

A group of ghostly figures began to flutter around space above Qin Sisi’s house, moving around everywhere, searching for traces of Qing Meng.

Qing Meng, having offered his Soul Power, had been sealed into the Spirit Conversion Bottle, so Qin Sisi wasn’t worried that they would find anything. She simply sat quietly on the sofa.

All of these ghost officers were wearing uniform suits, long-sleeved shirts and loose trousers of a grey-blue colour. The front of their shirts bore a large blood-red character "鬼" (Ghost), and the back had a "差" (Officer) character.

Aside from Horseface and Bull-head, only one ghost wasn’t wearing the uniform, nor was he fluttering around the room with the group. He stood quietly next to Horseface and Bull-head, just using his eyes to examine every detail of the room.

Qin Sisi couldn’t help but give him a second look. This man looked quite normal, even a bit handsome, medium height, wearing black trousers, a light grey business suit, and gold-rimmed glasses. He looked very refined.

Qin Sisi secretly guessed his status and rank in the underworld in her heart.

A group of ghost officers wreaked havoc in Qin Sisi’s house for half a day, of course, finding nothing, and had to report back to Horseface and Bull-head.
