Chapter 476: Chapter 476: Reunion with the Real Ye You_1

Having the detailed birth dates and times would make the search easier.

When Qin Sisi woke up, she found a text message on her phone from Lan Di: "Jiang Cheng, male, 22 years old, a senior student at a certain university, currently living in a certain neighborhood in X City."

X City, where Qin Sisi was currently residing, was also the city in which Jiang Dachuan lived.

This indicated that Jiang Dachuan’s wife and child must have stayed here after his death.

Therefore, Qin Sisi sent information to a private investigation agency, asking them to focus their investigation on X City.

Theoretically, after Jiang Dachuan’s death, his wife would have stayed with their child, right?

However, another worry swiftly arose in Qin Sisi’s mind: had Jiang Dachuan’s wife remarried? 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

The next day was the fifteenth of the second month of the lunar calendar. Qin Sisi practiced magic nervously while awaiting news from the detective agency.

Regrettably, she received no news the entire day. It seemed that investigating with an old ID number was indeed troublesome.

Anxious as she was, all Qin Sisi could do was calm herself down and wait.

Moreover, there was an important matter to attend to that night.

At eleven o’clock in the deep of the night, Ye You took two candles from the portable space and handed them to Qin Sisi before going into the bathroom.

Qin Sisi put on a white dress and took the candles into the bathroom.

"Fire magic, ignite!"

With her two commands, small flames sprouted from the tops of the candles.

Qin Sisi carefully placed the lit candles at both ends of the sink, on either side of the mirror.

Locking the door and turning off the light, darkness swallowed the bathroom, with only the weak candlelight flickering.

Ye You stood on the sink. In the mirror, he appeared as a black cat.

Qin Sisi looked at the black cat in the mirror and at her white-dressed reflection. She crossed her hands over her chest, closing her eyes and starting to count silently: "One, two, three, four..."

When she reached "thirteen", Qin Sisi stopped, slowly opening her eyes to look at the mirror.

As expected, there was no black cat nor a reflection of herself in the mirror, only the handsome and upright figure of Ye You, as beautiful as wind under the bright moon.

That was the real Ye You.

Both in and out of the mirror, they locked eyes. Neither spoke, both quietly and gently gazing at each other, as though they were trying to see deep into each other’s souls.

Silence stretched between them until smiles blossomed, bright and heartwarming like the rising sun, on their lips, filling the dimly lit and weirdly atmospheric bathroom with a hint of sweetness.

Ye You’s eyes were aflame with laughter as he took in Qin Sisi’s slender and graceful figure, then reached out, palm flat against the mirror.

Although the lifelines in his palm were too complicated to interpret, to Qin Sisi, there was only one meaning.

To take her hand, and with her, to grow old.

An unspoken proposal was made here.

With a hint of shyness in her expression, Qin Sisi’s heart pounded wildly, like a deer running rampant, despite this not being the first time she had done this.

A moment of pause passed before she mentally braced herself, extending her hand and pressing her palm against the mirror to align with Ye You’s.

Even though the feel of the cold mirror was all she felt, a gentle warmth filled both their hearts.

"Five more months." Ye You’s deep and magnetic voice echoed, filled with both worry and anticipation.

"Mm." Qin Sisi responded softly.

Time flew by, more than half a year had already passed.

"Do you remember how much soul power we’ve collected?" Qin Sisi asked quietly.

Ye You’s lips curled up slightly, pride coloring his tone as he replied, "Of course, forty-eight."

How could he ever forget something so important?

Qin Sisi nodded. In her heart, she also remembered it clearly: "We still need thirty-three."

Ye You’s eyes sparkled, like the stars in the night sky. He saw all of Qin Sisi’s hard work and kept it embedded in his heart.

Seeing Qin Sisi state the quantity of Soul Power needed without hesitation, Ye You felt a twinge of pain. If possible, he sincerely wished she wouldn’t have to work as hard.

"Don’t worry, we should be fine with five months left." Ye You didn’t know what to say and could only attempt to reassure her.

Qin Sisi smiled and reassured him in a clear voice, "I think so too."

Ye You opened his mouth to speak, then fell silent again.

His heart was full of soft affection. He wanted to say sweet nothings, but they were too hard to voice.

Moreover, simple words seemed pale and powerless.

He also wanted to make some promises to Qin Sisi, but considering he had already made a few, repeating them would be pointless and even a bit embarrassing.

In this situation, physical gestures would better express his feelings.

Unfortunately, besides pressing their palms on the cold mirror, there was no other physical contact between them.

Ye You sighed helplessly, feeling a little regret.

Finally, Qin Sisi broke the silence, initiating a conversation about magic with Ye You.

Of course, Ye You knew everything and was extremely forthcoming in sharing his knowledge.

Thus, the night of their reunion passed in their discussions and explorations about magic.

The next day, Qin Sisi finally received an email from the private investigators. She hurriedly opened the email on her phone.

The email stated that the woman Qin Sisi was investigating was named Han Xiutao, who would be fifty in two years’ time. She lived in a certain neighborhood in X City with her son and daughter. Her husband had passed away two years ago.

Reading only the first line, Qin Sisi’s heart tightened.

Her husband had passed away two years ago, and besides her son, she had a daughter as well?

But Jiang Dachuan had died twenty years ago, and he said he only had a son with his wife.

Qin Sisi sighed helplessly. It seemed that her worst fear had been realized: Jiang Dachuan’s wife had remarried.

From an outsider’s perspective, it was quite normal for Han Xiutao to remarry after her husband died.

However, Jiang Dachuan had been a water ghost for twenty years, longing to see his wife and child again. This showed how much he cherished this bond. It was uncertain how he would react when he learned about his wife’s remarriage.

Clearing her mind, Qin Sisi set her worries aside and continued reading the email.

To her shock, the email read: Han Xiutao’s second husband was named Hu Li. Her first husband was said to have been lost at sea while fishing many years ago.

Hu Li?

Reading the name, Qin Sisi felt her heart pounding.

Wasn’t the cousin who murdered Jiang Dachuan also named Hu Li?

Had Han Xiutao married the man who killed her husband?
