Chapter 458: Chapter 458: Lin Xiaoyu’s Girlfriend_1
On the other end of the phone, Lin Xiaoyu, mentioning his girlfriend, softened his gaze, but quickly remembered the purpose of the call to Qin Sisi, and his expression darkened again. He said in a low voice," Sisi, my girlfriend is going through something, I hope you can help."
Qin Sisi hesitated for a moment, then asked Lin Xiaoyu, "Xiaoyu, you know what I am capable of. Are you asking me to help because your girlfriend has encountered something strange?"
Lin Xiaoyu took a deep breath, organized his words, and began to explain, "It’s like this. Everything was normal, but half a month ago, after she returned from her hometown, she started having nightmares. Every night she would wake up from a dream around midnight.
If it were just for a day or two, it might be due to fright or discomfort. But this situation has been going on for half a month, which I think is quite strange.
What’s more, the room feels grim when she wakes up at night. It’s not normal."
Qin Sisi pondered over Lin Xiaoyu’s description, not replying immediately.
Worried that Qin Sisi didn’t want to come, Lin Xiaoyu said anxiously, "Sisi, I know that you’ve helped me a lot. You’ve helped mom and Chen Nuo. I owe you a debt of gratitude that I can never repay in this life. But could you please help me one more time?"
Qin Sisi assured Lin Xiaoyu, who seemed to have misunderstood her silence. She quickly said, "Don’t worry, I’ll get over there as soon as possible. You’re still in Z city, right?"
Lin Xiaoyu responded, "Yes, still in Z city, but I’ve changed my address. I moved in with my girlfriend since she started having nightmares."
"Oh." Qin Sisi responded dispassionately, her mind still on the nightmares Lin Xiaoyu mentioned earlier.
Lin Xiaoyu, detecting Sisi’s cold response, was quick to explain, "Sisi, don’t misunderstand. I moved here only because she’s been having nightmares, and we just share a bed, nothing else..."
He paused mid-sentence, probably realizing that he seemed to be digging a deeper hole for himself.
On the other side of the phone, Lin Xiaoyu was anxious and wanted to tear his hair out. Although he had given up on Qin Sisi emotionally, he didn’t want to leave a negative impression of himself in her mind.
Ignoring the hidden meaning in his words, Qin Sisi responded sincerely, "I understand. I’ll book a ticket now and let you know when I’ve confirmed the time."
Relieved that Qin Sisi would be coming to help, Lin Xiaoyu quickly interrupted his troubled explanation and asked, "Sisi, is there anything we can do to ease the situation a bit before you come? At least to help her sleep well at night. She has to work during the day, and if she doesn’t rest well at night, it would be too much for her body."
It was clear that Lin Xiaoyu cared a lot about his girlfriend. True gentlemen are still out there.
Yet, this question left Sisi a bit stumped. She could only manage an evasive response, "Umm... let me think about it. I’ll text you later."
"Okay." There was a lightness to Lin Xiaoyu’s voice, knowing that Qin Sisi would be helping, he was confident that things would be resolved.
After exchanging goodbyes, they hung up the phone. Qin Sisi then recounted Lin Xiaoyu’s situation to Ye You.
After hearing her story, they both had an eerie feeling of similarity between the ordeal of Lin Xiaoyu’s girlfriend and Chen Lan, Lin Shan’s former roommate.
Looking at it this way, she may have really encountered a ghost.
However, how this ghost had come into being was still uncertain; they’d have to meet in person to confirm.
Qin Sisi then threw Lin Xiaoyu’s question to Ye You: Is there any way to ensure that his girlfriend can sleep soundly at night?
After some thought, Ye You suggested, "Firstly, get a high-quality jade bracelet for her to wear and take some medicines that can replenish Yang energy. If it really is a ghost, she may have lost a significant amount of Yang energy in the last half a month. I have seen in one of your books mentioning the likes of ginseng, goji berries, and astragalus. Furthermore, keep all the lights in the house on at night and put some garlic next to the bed, which can have some effect."
Qin Sisi blinked and stared at Ye You in silence.
"What’s the matter?" Ye You asked, puzzled.
Qin Sisi smiled and said, "Nothing much, just think that you know a lot."
Ye You also chuckled lightly, responding, "Well, it is common knowledge. And after coming here, I’ve gleaned some information from books; haven’t you read those?"
A little embarrassed, Qin Sisi scratched her head and replied quietly, "I’ve read some, but not those ancient ones. They’re a bit too deep for me. My dad left them behind."
Looking at her with eyes deep and tender, Ye You gently reassured, "It’s okay. You’re already working hard practicing magic and collecting ghosts every day. There’s no rush to read those books; when you get to the Demon Sacred Realm, you can read at your own pace."
Qin Sisi had meant to nod in agreement, but thinking of the uncertainty of the road ahead, she huffed a sigh and said, "Let’s do it your way. I hope I’ll get the opportunity to sit down and read those old books."
Ye You’s eyes flickered but he chose not to say anything further.
Some things are pointless when explained prematurely. In due time, she would understand everything.
Qin Sisi texted Lin Xiaoyu with all the suggestions from Ye You and then decided to set off for Z city as soon as possible.
However, she could only get a train ticket for three days later due to the busy travelling period after the lunar new year.
Qin Sisi called to inform Lin Xiaoyu about her departure and arrival times. Knowing that he had to wait a few more days felt like an eternity for Lin Xiaoyu, but there was nothing he could do.
On the fifth day of the second lunar month, Qin Sisi set off for Z city.
As usual, Ye You was hiding in Sisi’s backpack. He wrapped himself up using magic, making himself undetectable by the security checks.
After a nearly ten-hour jostling journey, Qin Sisi finally arrived in the bustling metropolis once again.
She arrived in the afternoon and, because it was not the weekend, Lin Xiaoyu had taken the day off to pick her up from the train station.
Much to Sisi’s surprise, instead of taking the subway, Lin Xiaoyu had driven to the station to pick her up.
Qin Sisi complimented, "Nice! You got a car relatively quickly."
With a hint of embarrassment, Lin Xiaoyu replied, "Having my own vehicle is convenient for picking up my girlfriend and for visits home. It’s second-hand, and it only cost me a little over thirty thousand."
Sure, thirty thousand may sound cheap for a car.
But coming from a modest household, being a recent college graduate, and having to pay rent along with other expenses, being able to save up enough to buy a car was quite an achievement for Lin Xiaoyu.
