Chapter 437: Chapter 437 Strange Couple_1
Qin Sisi picked up her hot tea and took a sip, complimenting, "Good tea!"
Boss Zheng also took a sip with a smile, quietly explaining to Qin Sisi the name and origin of the tea.
After Boss Zheng finished talking, Qin Sisi flashed a smile and said crisply, "Uncle Zheng, I hope you didn’t just invite me here to drink tea."
Boss Zheng calmly said, "You are such an impatient child."
Qin Sisi cast a glance at Ye You and said with a playful smile, "Of course, I want to earn more money."
Apart from this reason, Qin Sisi couldn’t think of any other explanation for her interest in ghosts.
But to Boss Zheng, her lie was almost transparent. If Qin Sisi was indeed intent on amassing wealth, why would she offer him such a high rebate?
Boss Zheng shook his head slightly and said in a deep voice, "Sisi, if you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t pry. If you ever encounter any difficulties, feel free to ask for my help."
A warmth filled Qin Sisi’s heart as she softly said, "Thank you, Uncle Zheng. I don’t have any difficulties. I just want... to catch more ghosts."
The truth involved Ye You’s secret. Even though Boss Zheng was a trustworthy person, she had to protect his safety by keeping his secret.
Boss Zheng nodded without further inquiries. He directly said, "Alright, let’s get down to business."
Qin Sisi collected her thoughts, watching Boss Zheng with focused and serious eyes, waiting for him to provide some specific clues.
After some deliberation, Boss Zheng started, "I have a friend named Mr. Fu. He is a businessman with a large fortune. He and I have some business dealings.
In the first months of last year, his wife fell ill and passed away. At the end of the year, he remarried.
Normally, this would be a joyous occasion, but recently he approached me saying that since his marriage, he’s been feeling something strange in his house.
It seems like there are more than just their family and servants residing there. Personal items misplaced mysteriously.
For instance, keys placed on the hallway cabinet before bed somehow end up on the washstand the following morning.
Furthermore, his health began to deteriorate with various minor illnesses. He used to be very healthy, often horse riding and golfing, but recently he started to experience backaches and chills and his once-rosey complexion started to turn yellowish.
At first, he thought it was fatigue, so he went for a checkup in the hospital. However, doctors said there was nothing wrong with him.
Being close to fifty and having his fair share of life experience, he suspected that something impure might have entered his house, so he asked me to check for him."
Qin Sisi exchanged a brief glance with Ye You.
The symptoms Boss Zheng mentioned were too vague to indicate if it’s a ghost. Only a personal visit could confirm it.
So Qin Sisi said to Boss Zheng, "Just based on these descriptions, I can’t make a sure guess. I think we should pay a quick visit!"
Boss Zheng nodded, "That’s what I was thinking too. Seeing is believing. Do you have some free time in the next couple of days?"
Qin Sisi immediately responded, "Yes, I am ready to go whenever."
Her definite answer pleased Boss Zheng, who then said to Qin Sisi, "I’ll make a quick phone call. Please sit tight for a moment."
Knowing Boss Zheng must be contacting his friend, Mr. Fu, Qin Sisi nodded in agreement.
In standing up, Boss Zheng left the room.
Seeing him leave, Qin Sisi lowered her head and whispered to Ye You, "What do you think?"
Ye You replied in a low voice, "I think the same as you. Only a personal visit could confirm it. You responded perfectly."
Ye You’s serious tone combined with the subtle praise made Qin Sisi’s heart skip a beat.
It didn’t take long for Boss Zheng to return. He looked pleased as he said to Qin Sisi, "I’ve made the arrangements. We’ll go over tonight."
A sense of confusion washed over Qin Sisi. If they were trying to catch a ghost, it would indeed be preferable to go at night. However, since nothing was certain yet, shouldn’t they start with a visit under the guise of a social call during the daytime?
Boss Zheng, being adept at reading expressions, picked up on Qin Sisi’s confusion and explained gently, "His wife works during the day. She is home only at night."
Qin Sisi paused for a moment, then asked hesitantly, "Could it be...he suspects his newly-wed wife?"
Surprised by Qin Sisi’s keen observation, Boss Zheng cleared his throat and said, "His point is that before the arrival of his new wife, his life was going well. These peculiar feelings started happening only after her arrival. So..."
Even though Boss Zheng didn’t finish his sentence, Qin Sisi got the point.
She had originally thought that Mr. Fu was simply suspicious of his own house, but to her surprise, it was his newly-wed wife he doubted.
But Qin Sisi hadn’t met any of the parties involved and couldn’t cast aspersions or judge them out of the blue.
All she did was nod subtly and say, "I understand. I’ll be careful tonight."
After arranging the time with Boss Zheng, Qin Sisi returned home with Ye You.
With the afternoon free, Qin Sisi had Ye You help her create a barrier, so she could practice magic for a few hours.
As the agreed time approached, Qin Sisi packed and went downstairs with Ye You.
Boss Zheng was punctual. As soon as Qin Sisi reached the community gate, Boss Zheng’s car pulled up, giving her a horn.
Once Qin Sisi hopped into the car, Boss Zheng smoothly started the engine.
After driving for several tens of minutes, the car stopped at the entrance of a high-end residential complex.
The complex was named "First Mansion", living up to its name, the buildings were extremely luxurious, each one a separate villa.
Qin Sisi had heard of it. It was one of the most luxurious villa complexes in the city.
Boss Zheng got out of the car and registered at the security office. He then called Mr. Fu to vouch for them, after which the security let them in.
Eventually, they arrived at one of the villas within the complex.
The three-story villa had a dark red exterior that didn’t reveal any distinct features from the outside.
Boss Zheng parked the car and led Qin Sisi toward the villa.
Mr. Fu and his newly-wed wife stood at the entrance of the villa, watch as Boss Zheng and Qin Sisi gradually approached.
As Qin Sisi followed Boss Zheng, she assessed the couple standing at the entrance.
The man, around fifty, was dressed comfortably in casual attire, slightly overweight with a bald spot, and obvious wrinkles marking his face.
The woman, in her twenties, had delicate features with a seductive smile on her cherry-red lips. She was slightly taller than her husband, wearing a bright yellow cheongsam with a snow-white fur coat draped over her shoulders. Her figure was slim, clearly a woman of many charms.
