Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Love Rival Becomes Sister_1
This Pei Pei seemed somewhat unfamiliar to Lan Di. At the same time, her stubborn and haughty behavior in front of others kindled some rage in Lan Di’s heart, as if she were deliberately challenging his pride.
It was as if he was not a handsome, dashing and captivating man, but merely a little fanboy of Pei Pei’s.
Lan Di gritted his teeth, "I’ll ask you one last time, are you coming over or not?"
Seeing the growing gloom in Lan Di’s eyes, Pei Pei’s firm resolve began to waver.
She had almost never defied Lan Di. In front of him, she was always a well-behaved, gentle, and understanding good girl.
But this time, she wanted to be willful. She wanted to know how much she mattered to Lan Di.
To Pei Pei, this was just a small matter of walking back and holding her hand. She had indulged him so many times before. Why couldn’t he indulge her just this once?
Considering all of this, Pei Pei bit her lip and again stood her ground.
In the end, Lan Di lost his patience. With a twirl, he jumped up and the floor blurred momentarily. Lan Di had disappeared.
Pei Pei’s defiance wavered and fell away. Her arm limply dropped to her side as a torrent of tears rushed forth. She stared blankly at the spot where Lan Di had vanished.
Qin Sisi couldn’t help but feel sympathy. She gently comforted, "Don’t be upset. Maybe he’s just in a bad mood."
However, even as these words left her mouth, Qin Sisi didn’t believe them. Being in a bad mood was no excuse for hurting one’s lover.
Pei Pei turned to look at Qin Sisi, holding back sobs to ask: "Ms. Qin, do you think...there’s a chance Lan Di might like me, even a little?"
"Um..." Qin Sisi struggled to find words. Perhaps there were times when Lan Di seemed slightly kinder towards Pei Pei, but if that small degree of kindness could be considered liking, then the words "like" were much too cheap.
Pei Pei’s expression darkened. "You also think he doesn’t like me, don’t you? But he sometimes takes good care of me. His residence is a place where no one else is allowed, but I could go in and clean the room for him, so... so... actually, he kind of cares about me too, right?"
Pei Pei began to reassure herself.
Then, with a hint of desperation, she looked to Qin Sisi for affirmation: "Ms. Qin, am I right?"
Qin Sisi was at a loss for words. All she could do was give an equivocal reply, "If you think so, then maybe it is possible!"
However, this vague response lit up Pei Pei’s face. She excitedly told Qin Sisi, "You’re right. Your little black cat angered him, put him in a bad mood, that’s why he’s impatient with me. Once he feels better, I’ll apologize to him. I won’t purposely make things difficult for him any longer."
Qin Sisi furrowed her brows, unsure whether to pacify, comfort, warn, or object.
Regardless, Pei Pei didn’t stick around any longer. After hurriedly saying her goodbyes to Qin Sisi, she went to find Lan Di.
Looking at the room that had returned to calm, Qin Sisi sighed, "Pei Pei is such a good girl. Why can’t Lan Di treat her better?"
Ye You chimed in, "Not knowing to appreciate the blessings at hand, there’s nothing others can do."
Qin Sisi sidled up next to Ye You, shrugging helplessly, "I just feel bad for Pei Pei. I want to help her, but can’t. I want to persuade her to give up on Lan Di, but it doesn’t seem like it’d do any good."
Ye You said in a deep voice, "There’s no need to persuade her. She knows it all. It’s her choice."
"She knows everything?" Qin Sisi asked, surprised. But how did Pei Pei give the impression of someone who knows everything?
Ye You explained, "If someone likes you or not, how can you not know? She doesn’t want to give up inside. So she hypnotizes herself."
It seemed to be a reasonable explanation.
Qin Sisi nodded in silent agreement, then turned to cheerfully tease Ye You, "Who’d have thought you’d understand psychology?"
Ye You offered a self-deprecating smile, "I wouldn’t know psychology...It’s just that..."
Ye You suddenly fell silent, a hint of sadness flashed in his eyes.
Qin Sisi looked at Ye You, curiously prodding, "Just what?"
After a long silence, Ye You finally said, "Just that...after experiencing so much, you naturally develop a deeper understanding of people’s hearts."
Ye You’s gaze turned deeper, like a fathomless pool of water, inscrutable and enigmatic.
"Xiao Hei..." Qin Sisi called out with concern.
Ye You regained his composure, saying softly, "Let’s rest."
"Okay," Qin Sisi agreed, softly cradling Ye You and walking towards the bedroom.
Qin Sisi could naturally sense that Ye You had a lot on his mind, but since he didn’t want to talk about it, she didn’t want to push.
Whenever he was ready to share, she would listen attentively, keeping his every word in mind.
Because they hadn’t gone to bed too late, they didn’t sleep till noon the next day. Rather, they woke up in the morning.
Checking her phone, Qin Sisi found the text from Lan Di had indeed arrived. It was received almost around four in the morning.
Lan Di’s message was very detailed. After reading it, Qin Sisi was left stunned beyond words.
Seeing Qin Sisi’s reaction, Ye You questioned her, puzzled, "What’s wrong? Is there a problem?"
Qin Sisi shook her head, "The problem is not significant, it’s just..."
Unsure how to express herself, she handed the phone to Ye You, letting him read it himself.
Ye You also seemed taken aback after reading the message, "Twins?"
Qin Sisi nodded, adding, "And right now, they are both studying in the city’s Number One High School, right by Lu Yimin’s side."
The two exchanged a glance, both falling silent. The mysteries of fate were indeed not something anyone could see through.
After getting up and preparing for the day, Ye You drew a spell on Lu Yimin’s forehead to block out sunlight and took him out of the Portable Space.
Upon suddenly seeing sunlight, Lu Yimin was startled but then realized he was unharmed. He figured it must have been Qin Sisi who used a spell. This eased his mind, so he asked Qin Sisi, "Mage, any news about them yet?"
Qin Sisi nodded, handing Lu Yimin the text message from Lan Di.
After reading it, Lu Yimin was even more shocked than Qin Sisi, "Is there a mistake? How could they possibly be sisters?"
Qin Sisi’s emotions have already calmed, she said indifferently, "Nothing is impossible. Initially, they died together, and their ghosts followed the Messenger of Death to the underworld together, queuing for reincarnation. Perhaps when it was their turn, a pair of twins were just born, resulting in their current situation."
Despite his shock, Lu Yimin knew that Qin Sisi’s words made sense, but he found it hard to accept them.
In his view, the two women were clearly adversaries who could never reconcile in life or death. Yet the wheel of fate made them sisters in the next life.
