Chapter 320: Chapter 320: The Ghost World of Survival of the Fittest_1
Just as the leather jacket-wearing ghost thought he was about to step closer, he felt a sudden intense pain all over his body.
He took several involuntary steps back, looked down in disbelief, and saw a deep cut from his left shoulder to his right thigh.
The cut seemed to be growing, and black smoke was starting to seep out from it.
He felt his spiritual power leaving him and his face twisted in disbelief.
He was just a harmless wild ghost who, on a whim, took interest in the passing Qin Sisi. Little did he know, that this spur-of-the-moment idea would lead him to such a fate.
As the black smoke billowed out faster, the ghost fell to his knees in front of Qin Sisi and cried, "Spare me, lady! I won’t do it again! Never again!"
Qin Sisi took a couple of steps back and shook her head helplessly.
The injury inflicted by Divine Dog’s Fury was not something she could heal, and the fate of the leather-jacketed ghost was sealed.
It was a pity that the ghost was lost, as she couldn’t harness his soul power.
At that moment, a tall figure appeared beside Qin Sisi.
Qin Sisi was initially startled, but she soon recognized him and relaxed.
With blue hair, blue skin, blue clothes, and blue shoes, it was of course Lan Di who had cooperated with her and Ye You many times.
The phantom in the leather jacket, seeing Lan Di like a savior, kowtowed to him and begged, "Lord Ghost! Save me!"
Lan Di’s usual playful expression was replaced by a cold, serious one. He said coldly, "Daring to make a move on my friend, you dying on your own is too easy for you."
Before the phantom could respond, he saw Lan Di flash and transform into a whirlwind of blue smoke, which rapidly charged towards him.
The phantom watched in horror, his eyes wide open. He fell backward, desperately scooting backward, but couldn’t avoid the blue smoke.
The blue smoke engulfed the phantom, and then it began to whirl faster.
The phantom let out a shrill scream, which was shortly silenced.
The blue smoke, which had transformed from Lan Di, slowed down its rotation, eventually stopped, and reformed into a humanoid shape—it was the tall, handsome Lan Di once again.
Lan Di licked his lips and scornfully said, "Not very tasty, a bit smelly."
Qin Sisi realized that this must be what Ye You had mentioned about soul devouring—Lan Di, with his stronger spiritual power, had just devoured the ghost’s soul.
Gobbled up and then complained about the taste, what a pitiful ghost.
Qin Sisi looked at the beaming smile on Lan Di’s face, and it was hard to believe that the seemingly harmless guy also had such a ruthless side.
Perhaps, this was the real world of the ghosts.
In the human world, there’s a veil to cover the ugliness, and evil could be controlled and punished to some extent.
But in the world of ghosts, it was a naked survival of the fittest, natural selection.
Lan Di walked up to Qin Sisi and kindly said, "It’s over, you’re safe."
Qin Sisi nodded and smiled, "Thank you."
Lan Di chuckled, "What are you thanking me for? You did all the work. No wonder you’re not afraid, having such a powerful weapon from the Black Cat."
Qin Sisi looked at the Divine Dog’s Fury in her hand. Indeed, many times, she had depended on the Divine Dog’s Fury to stay safe.
Lan Di looked at Ye You, who was sleeping in Qin Sisi’s arms and jokingly said, "I knew this dumb cat would burn out. What was the point of sacrificing so much just to save a random ghost?"
Qin Sisi looked at Ye You with concern, gently stroking his back.
What was the point?
Perhaps it was for the good deed that Boss Zheng talked about, or, to fulfill her request.
Either way, it wasn’t for himself.
Looking at Qin Sisi’s concerned expression and loving gaze, Lan Di shrugged and said, "Let me walk you home, it’s a long way for you."
Qin Sisi considered for a moment before nodding her agreement.
After several cooperative exchanges, Lan Di was also considered a friend.
Taking a lift from a friend wasn’t a big deal.
Just as Lan Di was about to grab Qin Sisi’s arm, a hand slapped onto the back of his hand.
Lan Di sucked in a sharp breath from the pain, turned to the source of the slap, and shouted angrily, "Are you crazy?"
Pei Pei, dressed in a pale blue dress, walked out from behind him, pouting at Lan Di and saying, "No physical contact between men and women. Let me take Sisi home!"
With that, Pei Pei took Qin Sisi’s hand.
Lan Di gave Pei Pei an annoyed and helpless glance, and impatiently said, "Fine, fine, I leave it to you. Make sure you get her home safely."
Pei Pei made a face at Lan Di triumphantly, then turned around and with a warm smile, said to Qin Sisi, "Let’s go, Sisi. I’ll walk you home."
Seeing Pei Pei’s sincere smile, Qin Sisi could only nod in agreement.
It didn’t really matter who took her home, though it seemed like she was more familiar with Lan Di.
"Get ready," Pei Pei kindly reminded. Her figure slowly floated up and Qin Sisi, hand in hand with Pei Pei, followed suit.
Pei Pei used her inner spiritual power to help Qin Sisi float toward her house.
Qin Sisi had flown before in two ways, either with the help of Wings of Rainbow or in a silver sphere conjured by Ye You’s Magic.
This was the first time she actually floated in the night sky with the help of a ghost.
Although she didn’t have an Invisible Bubble, it was late and quiet. Plus, Qin Sisi was dressed in black clothes and a black hat, which made it hard to be noticed.
Qin Sisi, not particularly familiar with Pei Pei and considering Pei Pei’s somewhat strange relationship with Lan Di, remained silent for most of the journey.
While Pei Pei wasn’t as fast as Wings of Rainbow, she was certainly faster than walking. Roughly half an hour later, Pei Pei had delivered Qin Sisi home.
Once Qin Sisi was standing on the ground, she smiled gratefully at Pei Pei and said, "Thank you."
Pei Pei waved her hand and laughed, "You don’t have to thank me. Since you are a friend of Lan Di, that makes you my friend."
After she spoke, Pei Pei’s gaze lingered on the sleeping Ye You for a moment before she tentatively asked, "Is this black cat your boyfriend?"
Pei Pei was a very thoughtful girl. Even though she couldn’t hear Ye You speak, she had guessed something about the cat’s uniqueness from Lan Di’s words.
Qin Sisi paused for a moment before nodding.
This matter, she couldn’t share it with anyone else. Who would accept a romantic relationship between a person and a cat?
