Chapter 306: Chapter 306 Honored Guests_1

Ding Jiayuan looked at Qin Sisi with particularly bright eyes, even showing adoration and fascination as if Qin Sisi was her idol.

Qin Sisi felt somewhat uncomfortable under such intense scrutiny, and took a sip from the teacup on the table.

But before she could swallow, Mrs. Ding suddenly shouted, "Don’t..."

Qin Sisi nearly choked and looked at Mrs. Ding in bewilderment and confusion.

Mrs. Ding hastily stood up, looking apologetic, and said, "I’m so forgetful. You’ve been downstairs for a while; the tea must have gone cold. It’s not good for your stomach, I’ll have the nanny change it to hot."

Having said this, Mrs. Ding started calling for the nanny towards the kitchen.

Before the nanny could come over, Mr. Ding urged impatiently, "All right, why don’t you just go and get it yourself?"

"Right, right, I’ll go." Mrs. Ding replied as she collected the teapot and teacups from the coffee table onto a tray, and hurried off to the kitchen.

Seeing this scene unfold, Ding Jiayuan seemed to catch on to something. She jumped up from the sofa and cheerfully asked, "Mage Sister, would you like some fruit? They’re just in from Guangdong; the freshest tangerines and strawberries. I’ll go fetch some."

Upon finishing, she also gleefully scampered off.

Qin Sisi looked somewhat speechless at the mother-daughter pair, feeling as if she had suddenly transformed from an unwelcome guest to a distinguished guest.

Boss Zheng coughed lightly and asked Qin Sisi, "Sisi, do you need any help?"

Qin Sisi considered briefly, replied, "Uncle Zheng, you stay as well and keep an eye on the entrance to the basement. Make sure no one disturbs me."

Boss Zheng nodded in agreement.

Shortly after, Mrs. Ding’s hot tea and Ding Jiayuan’s fresh fruit were brought out.

The hot tea had a subtle and elegant fragrance, its mild steam curling up delicately.

The tangerines were bright orange, the strawberries were vibrantly red, placed on a snowy plate, they were quite tempting.

Qin Sisi smiled at Mrs. Ding and Ding Jiayuan and graciously said, "Thank you."

Under the warm hospitality of Mrs. Ding and Ding Jiayuan, Qin Sisi ate some fruit and had a few cups of fragrant tea. Though it wasn’t even mealtime yet, she already felt full.

When the nanny prepared a table full of delicacies, inviting both the hosts and the guest to the dining table, Qin Sisi, looking at the array of exquisite dishes before her, deeply regretted not having two stomachs.

However, Qin Sisi glanced compassionately at Ye You who hadn’t taken a drop of water, feeling her stomach content, meanwhile Ye You had nothing.

Feeling sorry for Ye You and considering the job ahead in the evening for which Ye You would also require his strength, she put her apprehensions aside and asked Mrs. Ding, "Mrs. Ding, would you mind finding a plastic bag for me? My cat also needs to eat."

Mrs. Ding was startled for a moment before understanding. Quickly calling for the nanny to find a plastic bag, but the Ding couple exchanged a look, feeling somewhat astonished as Qin Sisi’s request seemed a bit abrupt since the people hadn’t finished their meal yet.

Qin Sisi realized this, but she did not want Ye You to eat the leftovers.

Ding Jiayuan was watching the black cat in Qin Sisi’s arms, her gleaming eyes full of laughter as she asked curiously, "Mage Sister, is this your pet?"

Qin Sisi thought for a while, then raising her gaze slightly to meet the surprised looks of the Ding couple, replied calmly, "To be precise, it’s my spirit pet."

"Spirit pet?" Ding Jiayuan looked amazed.

Qin Sisi nodded, explaining, "His eyes are very powerful and can see things that ordinary people can’t."

"Wow..." Ding Jiayuan’s eyes shone bright, instantaneously admiring and adoring the black cat.

Mr. and Mrs. Ding exchanged a surprised look, their surprise fading away.

Since it was not simply a pet but a helper when the Mage performs magic, it would be reasonable to give him something to eat.

The nanny brought the plastic bag, and as Qin Sisi went to fill it with food for Ye You, Ding Jiayuan was already one step ahead.

"Cats love fish, right?" Ding Jiayuan added a large piece of fish to the bag.

"Chicken is also very nourishing."

"This duck is particularly aromatic."

"Let’s add some seafood."

"Plus some green vegetables for vitamins."

"..."

Then soon, the bag was filled with a colorful assortment of delicious food.

"Thank you," Qin Sisi genuinely thanked Ding Jiayuan; if she had taken the initiative, she would have felt embarrassed to pack up so much.

The Ding couple was somewhat opportunistic, observing people’s conduct, seeing their daughter behaving sincerely and lovingly.

Qin Sisi carried Ye You and the bag of food to a corner near the door, placing both Ye You and the food on the ground.

Then she lightly stroked Ye You’s back and whispered, "Eat quickly, so we can work hard together tonight."

She said this as much for Ye You as for the Ding couple, so they wouldn’t underestimate Ye You.

Ye You’s eyes radiated a deep purplish glow as he intently looked at Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi returned to the dining table. She had hardly eaten anything and was already full, having had way too much fruit and aromatic tea earlier.

Ding Jiayuan also only ate a little as her focus had shifted to Ye You. Once she finished the food in her bowl, she left the dining table, and went to kneel next to Ye You, engrossed in watching the fascinating black cat.

Ye You had been happily eating, enjoying the food’s exquisite taste plush with the skillful hand of the Ding’s nanny.

However, with Ding Jiayuan constantly watching him whilst eating, Ye You felt uncomfortable. He turned his back towards her and continued eating.

Unwilling to give up easily, Ding Jiayuan moved to the other side so that she could keep on watching Ye You.

Ye You, annoyed, glared at Ding Jiayuan.

However, to his surprise, Ding Jiayuan shrieked out in amazement, "Wow! The cat’s eyes are actually purple. That’s so cool!"

Noticing Ye You’s discomfort, Qin Sisi walked over, pulled Ding Jiayuan up, and said, "He doesn’t like being watched while he eats. How about we look at him once he’s finished eating?"

"Hmm, yes, okay." Hearing that Ye You disliked being watched, Ding Jiayuan promptly left with Qin Sisi and distanced herself from Ye You, although her gaze kept drifting back towards Ye You.

Seeing Ye You so adored by Ding Jiayuan, Qin Sisi suddenly felt uneasy.

When dinner formally concluded, it had already become dark outside.

Ye You had finished his share of food. Qin Sisi once again held him in her arms.

Ding Jiayuan stuck close to Qin Sisi, trying to play with Ye You. However, not liking the attention, Ye You buried his face into Qin Sisi’s arm and rested.

Qin Sisi did not want Ye You to be playfully bothered like an ordinary pet, and also did not wish to awkwardly stick around in the company of the three Ding family members. So, she proposed heading to the basement.

The basement was, at least, quiet, and she could stay there alone with Ye You.
