Chapter 279: Chapter 279: The Troublesome Mirror_1

Qin Sisi observed that Zhou Zimeng was hiding something and reminded her, "I hope you’ll tell me everything you know, so I can help you find the person who’s framing you as soon as possible."

Zhou Zimeng paused for a moment before finally saying, "She also has feelings for Yang Yihang."

Also?

Qin Sisi blinked, softly asking, "Is Yang Yihang your boyfriend?"

Zhou Zimeng nodded and then shook her head, explaining, "We agreed not to officially date, focusing on our studies instead. We planned to go to high school and college together."

Qin Sisi continued, "So, the person Yang Yihang likes is you, right?"

Blushing, Zhou Zimeng shyly nodded in agreement.

According to Zhou Zimeng, Fang Yiyi might have framed Zhou Zimeng out of jealousy, an explanation that seemed somewhat plausible.

Qin Sisi made a mental note of the name Fang Yiyi before asking, "Besides Fang Yiyi, is there anyone else you suspect?"

Zhou Zimeng pondered for a while, then shook her head in confusion.

Chen Lan chimed in, "Zhou Zimeng is very amiable, and she gets along well with her classmates."

Qin Sisi sighed, "That’s only on the surface, isn’t it?"

Chen Lan was left speechless, unable to argue.

She knew that Qin Sisi was right—if all the students truly had a good relations with Zhou Zimeng, something like this wouldn’t have happened.

After thinking for a bit, Qin Sisi turned to Chen Lan and asked, "As a teacher present at the time, did anyone there strike you as suspicious?"

After pondering the circumstances, Chen Lan slowly replied, "Fang Yiyi has a relative who’s a school leader, and she’s also one of the top students in the class. She’s somewhat domineering and probably wouldn’t have let losing her phone go easily. But I find the person who first suggested calling the lost phone to find it more suspicious."

Zhou Zimeng’s eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "I remember now, it was Lu Zhe!"

Chen Lan nodded in agreement, "Yes, it was a student named Lu Zhe."

Qin Sisi also noted Lu Zhe’s name, before asking again, "Can you think of anyone else who might be suspicious?"

Both Zhou Zimeng and Chen Lan paused to consider the question, but ultimately shook their heads.

In the end, Qin Sisi decided, "Alright, we’ll investigate these two people first. Do you know their home addresses?"

Zhou Zimeng shook her head, "I only know the general area of Fang Yiyi’s home. I don’t know where Lu Zhe lives."

Qin Sisi then turned her gaze toward Chen Lan.

Chen Lan replied, "I’m not sure either, but their homeroom teacher should know. I can ask tomorrow."

Qin Sisi nodded, "Alright, find out their exact addresses for me tomorrow. I’ll investigate them tomorrow night."

Chen Lan looked at Qin Sisi with confusion, "Sisi, even if they were the ones who did it, they won’t admit it. How do you plan to investigate?"

Qin Sisi laughed lightly, "A Mage has her ways."

Seeing that Qin Sisi did not want to elaborate, the astute Chen Lan did not ask more.

Qin Sisi turned to Zhou Zimeng, "Now that we have an agreement, there’s no need for you to return to the mirror. Just stay by my side for now."

Zhou Zimeng hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Alright."

Qin Sisi signaled to Ye You, who waved his claw and made Zhou Zimeng’s ghostly form wisp-like before it flew into his hand and disappeared.

Chen Lan looked shocked as Qin Sisi casually said to her, "You don’t need to be afraid. We are from two different worlds. Once I leave, your life will go back to normal."

Chen Lan responded with a bitter smile, "I’m not scared, I’m just having trouble accepting it. It feels like the world is far beyond what I imagined."

Qin Sisi fell silent. She understood what Chen Lan was feeling. Her emotions were similar when she first learned of Ye You’s secret.

After a moment, Qin Sisi said to Chen Lan, "You have to work tomorrow, go rest for a while. This time, you shouldn’t have any nightmares."

Chen Lan gratefully replied, "Thank you so much, otherwise, I don’t know when my insomnia would end."

After taking a couple of steps toward her bedroom, she turned back to Qin Sisi, "Sisi, you’ve been up all night too. Let’s share my bed."

Qin Sisi quickly responded, "No need, I can sleep on the sofa."

Fitting on one bed with Chen Lan was doable, but there was also Ye You to consider.

Adding Ye You would make the bed even more crowded. Besides, Qin Sisi was not very comfortable with Ye You sleeping on the same bed with another woman.

Even if he was currently a cat.

Chen Lan insisted, "The sofa is too small and hard, you won’t be comfortable."

Qin Sisi persevered, "It’s okay, I can sleep anywhere."

In the end, Qin Sisi added, "Sorry, I’m not used to sharing a bed with others."

Since Qin Sisi had made her feelings clear, Chen Lan did not insist further, saying, "Okay then, I’m going to bed."

Qin Sisi nodded, "Go ahead."

Chen Lan walked into her bedroom.

Once she entered her bedroom and closed the door, she felt an inexplicably cold feeling inside, probably because Zhou Zimeng had just left.

Pausing at the door, Chen Lan turned to Qin Sisi and asked, "Sisi, I have a question."

Qin Sisi looked at Chen Lan and responded, "Go ahead."

Chen Lan hesitated before asking, "Why did Zhou Zimeng specifically come to find me? I’m just an ordinary teacher, she could have gone to her homeroom teacher or her parents instead. Wouldn’t that be more effective?"

This question was a bit hard to explain and since Qin Sisi did not have a definite answer, she said, "I’m not sure, perhaps it’s because you happened to witness the entire incident."

Seeing that Qin Sisi did not have a definitive explanation, Chen Lan quietly replied, "Maybe."

With a sigh, Chen Lan turned and made her way back to her bedroom.

At this moment, Ye You lifted his head and meowed a few times at Qin Sisi.

A chill ran down Qin Sisi’s spine, and she quickly shouted to Chen Lan, "Wait a moment, I’ve just figured it out."

"What?" Chen Lan turned, with a mixture of anticipation and nervousness.

Qin Sisi walked straight into the bedroom and pointed towards the vanity mirror at the foot of the bed, "The reason should be that mirror."

"The mirror?" Chen Lan stepped closer to the vanity and looked at her own reflection anxiously.

Her shoulder-length hair hung softly over her back, the pale and careworn face peering back at her wore a light-colored housecoat, and had knitted brows.
