Chapter 260: Chapter 260: See You in the Evening_1

Director Liu shook his slightly dizzy head and rubbed his tired eyes. Eventually, he chuckled and said, "Now that you mention it, I do feel somewhat fatigued. I won’t stand on ceremony with you any longer. Driving while tired isn’t safe. It’ll be a hassle, but you should head back by yourself. We’ll keep in touch if anything comes up."

Director Liu was nearing fifty, and staying up the entire day and night was indeed taxing for him.

Cherishing the old as one would their own elderly, Qin Sisi was considerate of Director Liu’s hard work. She politely bid him farewell, carried Ye You out of Ke University of Science and Technology, and hailed a taxi at the school gate to return to her residential complex.

By the time she returned home, it was noon.

Warm sunlight bathed the balcony, where the few pots of Chlorophytum comosum that Qin Sisi had planted basked in the sun. Their long leaves hung down elegantly, delicate and graceful.

Although it was freezing outside, the indoor heating system kept the plants flourishing.

Qin Sisi set Ye You on the sofa and sat down next to him. She took out the Miao ethnic group-styled accessory and placed it on the table, asking Ye You, "Can you tell anything about it?"

Glancing over it, Ye You stated, "This item isn’t new; it was likely pilfered from a corpse."

An accessory taken from a deceased body would naturally carry strong yin energy, which was what attracted Hei Shan.

Qin Sisi took a sharp breath, "Taken off a dead person? Was it robbed from a grave?"

Ye You hesitated before stating, "I don’t believe so. This accessory doesn’t seem to be been aged."

After some thought, Qin Sisi stated, "It seems Miao women nowadays also wear similar accessories as part of their customs."

Although many ethnic customs had faded due to modernization, some places still retained traditional customs and practices.

Ye You nodded in agreement, "That sounds accurate. Most likely, some petty thieves stole it from a corpse that hadn’t been buried yet and then sold it off cheaply to a street peddler."

Looking at the beautifully fashioned accessory, Qin Sisi pondered for a moment, "The material of this accessory should be silver, right?"

Shaking his head, Ye You replied, "No."

"It’s not?" Qin Sisi looked at Ye You in surprise.

Speaking gravely, Ye You said, "I can sense that it contains very little silver, but there’s quite a bit of copper."

An idea flashed through Qin Sisi’s mind, she immediately stated, "It’s concealed silver, I should have thought of that."

"Concealed silver?" Ye You was unfamiliar with the term.

Qin Sisi explained to Ye You, "Concealed silver isn’t silver. It’s a copper-nickel alloy, which is commonly used among some ethnic minorities."

Ye You nodded in understanding, gazing at the accessory. "Since it’s an omen of ill-fortune and not worth much, it’s best to destroy it to prevent it from any further mischief."

Qin Sisi hesitated for a moment before asking, "Ye You, what do you think will happen if I wear this accessory?"

Ye You’s eyes darkened, his voice bearing a touch of severity, "Have you lost your mind? Have you already forgotten about what happened to Xie Kexin?"

Chastised, Qin Sisi replied in a small voice, "I haven’t forgotten. I just wanted to help attract the ghosts for you."

Ghosts weren’t found everywhere. The amount of soul power collected this month was quite small; Qin Sisi felt a bit anxious for Ye You.

If wearing the accessory could attract ghosts, wouldn’t that save a lot of time? 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Ye You looked at the apprehensive Qin Sisi, and without uttering a word, he quickly raised his claw. He channeled his magic power to form a purple fireball and threw it at the concealed silver accessory.

Qin Sisi was startled by the sight. The concealed silver accessory was instantly devoured by the purple flame and melted completely within a minute, leaving no trace behind.

Ye You withdrew his paw, pulling back the purple fire.

Apart from the missing concealed silver accessory, other items including the part of the table where the accessory had been were unaffected.

Qin Sisi understood Ye You’s intention. He declined her suggestion and torched the concealed silver accessory, severing her thoughts.

Looking into Ye You’s eyes, she said sincerely, "You know my intentions. If you’re against it, let’s pretend I never mentioned it."

Ye You met Qin Sisi’s gaze, his eyes carrying complex emotions as he stated with conviction, "Sisi, no matter how desperate I am, I will never put you in such danger."

Qin Sisi bit her lower lip slightly and spoke softly, "But you’re here, aren’t you?"

In Qin Sisi’s mind, if any ghosts appeared, Ye You would undoubtedly sense it first. She wouldn’t be in danger, which was why she made that suggestion.

Ye You slowly shook his head, his voice heavy, "What if I wasn’t paying attention? I get tired too. I also need rest. If I fail to detect it in time..."

Then Qin Sisi might suffer the same fate as Xie Kexin.

Thinking of this, Ye You felt a dread and heartache that seemed worse than death itself.

Therefore, even if it’s a one in ten thousand chance, Ye You will not allow it.

Qin Sisi fell silent, she understood Ye You’s intent as well as the fear in his heart.

Qin Sisi reached out her hands, holding Ye You close with his soft fur against her cheek.

Ye You took several deep breaths, calming his mood, and then proposed in a lighter tone, "Shall we make some food? I’m hungry."

"Yes." Qin Sisi slightly curved the corners of her lips. She gently placed Ye You on the sofa and turned towards the kitchen.

After lunch, a wave of fatigue hit her. She had not rested for an entire day and night. The day was almost over.

Qin Sisi carried Ye You into the bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, exhausted.

Ye You lowered his head and lightly kissed Qin Sisi’s cheek.

Struggling to open her eyes, Qin Sisi whispered, "Ye You, do you remember what day it is?"

A hint of a smile appeared in Ye You’s eyes as he softly replied, "Of course. I am more excited than you are."

Today was the fifteenth of November, the night of a full moon.

The real Ye You could once again appear in the mirror and meet with Qin Sisi.

Hearing Ye You’s answer, Qin Sisi slightly curved her lips into a smile.

"See you tonight." Qin Sisi whispered before she slowly closed her eyes.

Ye You’s gaze was intense. He lowered his head to kiss Qin Sisi’s soft, peachy lips once again, whispering, "See you tonight."

The afternoon sun was still warm and bright. It cast a faint halo on the curtain as though reflecting the sparkling eyes of a maiden.

The human and cat nestled together in the comfortable bed, comfortably asleep.

After the intensity of battle, this moment of tranquility felt incredibly precious and unforgettable.
