Chapter 206: Chapter 206 Betrayal of a friend_1
No matter what, Grandma Chu had done her a big favor. Qin Sisi looked gratefully at Grandma Chu and sincerely thanked her, "Thank you so much, Grandma."
Grandma Chu replied indifferently, "No need to thank me. Despite Ning Yue’s cold attitude toward you, you still offered her the Revealing Soul Pill. That proves that you have a kind heart. Maybe you really can help Zihao."
Zihao? Was that the man’s name?
Qin Sisi looked at the man with a puzzled expression. What was his unresolved desire that he couldn’t let go?
Even though his demeanor was gloomy and his face expressionless, the man heard Grandma Chu’s words and clearly stated, "My name is Zhu Zihao."
Qin Sisi nodded and gently said, "Hello, I can help you fulfill your wish. However, my condition is - you need to give me your Soul Power."
Zhu Zihao readily nodded and said, "As long as you can help me fulfill my wish, I am willing to give you my Soul Power."
This made Qin Sisi even more enthusiastic. She looked deeply into Zhu Zihao’s eyes and said confidently, "Alright, tell me about your wish. I will do my best."
Pain filled Zhu Zihao’s pale face. He closed his eyes tight and swallowed hard.
After a while, Zhu Zihao finally began to recount his story.
"Seven years ago, I quit my government job and decided to start a business with my best friend."
"Standing on the peaceful shore, the sea of commerce was colorful and full of money. It’s only when you actually dive in, that you realize how hard starting a business can be."
"Raising funds, identifying projects, preparing proposals overnight, entertaining clients... my friend and I went through hardships and setbacks together, but we eventually made a name for ourselves."
"I thought our most difficult days were over, but little did I know, more challenges were yet to come."
"The friend I started my business with was Gu Liang. We grew up together, we were like brothers... I thought we always would be."
At this point, Zhu Zihao’s tone had a bitter undertone, as a painful bitterness spread across his face.
Qin Sisi looked at the grief-stricken Zhu Zihao, suspicions forming in her mind.
Zhu Zihao composed himself and continued, "Our business started to prosper, we were making more money, and I was thrilled. I had a successful career, a family, and friends. It felt like a dream."
"Just as I was busy cherishing my happy life, Gu Liang suddenly told me that I no longer had a share in the company. He was willing to give me a million dollars to leave."
"I couldn’t believe what he was telling me. I held thirty percent of the company’s stock and had worked hard for years to build it up. He might have had more shares than me, but he didn’t have the right to kick me out!"
"Later, I found out that he colluded with the chief of finance, who was also his mistress. They used my identification and seal to transfer my stocks to their names. I was totally unaware that they were scheming all this behind my back."
"Naturally, I didn’t agree to Gu Liang’s conditions. I was angry; he was my friend and my brother. How could he do this to me? I sought legal advice and fought for what was rightfully mine."
"However, as soon as he found out that I was taking action, he plotted to kill me."
"One day, he asked me to meet him on the rooftop. I thought he felt guilty and wanted to settle things peacefully. But he pushed me off the roof when I wasn’t paying attention."
And so, a young life faded away under a high-rise office building because of a friend’s greed.
Qin Sisi sighed. Many close friends who had been through hardships together often promised each other to never forget their roots. But as fate played its cruel game, most of them ended up not being able to share their fortunes together.
Listening to Zhu Zihao’s story reminded Qin Sisi of a suicide that happened in their building about a year ago. However, she didn’t pay much attention to the details then.
Ning Hao, on the other hand, had a clearer memory of the incident. He remembered his colleague handling the case and mentioned that it was being treated as a suicide. There were skeptics, but without any hard evidence, the case eventually went cold.
Qin Sisi didn’t know any of this. She looked at Zhu Zihao, puzzled, and asked, "Didn’t the police do something about your friend murdering you?"
Zhu Zihao sighed heavily and replied, "He had planned everything. He deliberately avoided everyone, and his lover, the chief of finance, provided him an alibi. He told the police that I was selling my shares and borrowing money from him. When he refused, I lost my temper and stormed out. That’s why the police ruled it as a suicide."
Only then did everything make sense to Qin Sisi. No wonder Zhu Zihao was so determined to seek revenge. Being betrayed and killed by a trusted friend was something no one could accept. More so when the murderer never received any punishment.
Qin Sisi asked in a serious tone, "So what’s your wish?"
Zhu Zihao answered decisively, "First, I want revenge; second, I want to provide some money for my family."
Zhu Zihao sighed heavily once again, anxiety flashing across his face, "I didn’t tell my family about Gu Liang taking my shares. I didn’t want them to worry. I thought I could bear it all myself. But Gu Liang caught me by surprise, and my family had no time to prepare. They had to accept that it was suicide, and Gu Liang had given them ten thousand dollars. My family was even grateful to him."
Zhu Zihao was incensed, gritting his teeth and clenching his fists. He looked like he wanted to rip Gu Liang apart.
Even though Zhu Zihao’s intention was clear, Qin Sisis wanted to confirm, "Do you want to kill him?"
Zhu Zihao retorted loudly, "Of course! Debts must be paid, and murderers must atone. It’s natural law!"
Qin Sisi considered this for a moment and asked, "Can’t you seek revenge yourself?"
Zhu Zihao shook his head in despair, "I can only move within a certain range, and Gu Liang sold the company and moved away shortly after killing me. I can’t find him."
Qin Sisi understood Zhu Zihao’s predicament. After a moment of consideration, she said, "I won’t kill anyone, but I might be able to help create opportunities."
Zhu Zihao thought for a moment, then replied: "That could work."
Having negotiated the first condition, she now had to deal with the second, which involved money.
Qin Sisi asked, "How much money do you want?"
Zhu Zihao promptly answered, "Five hundred thousand."
"Five hundred thousand?!" Qin Sisi’s eyes widened in shock. That was indeed a very steep price.
