Chapter 203: Chapter 203 A Small Lesson_1
After receiving Grandma Chu’s confirmation, Ning Yue looked at Qin Sisi askew. She rudely sneered, "Qin Sisi, you truly exaggerate your abilities. How could someone like Grandma Chu be fooled by you?"
Fool?
Qin Sisi crinkled her brows upon hearing this accusation.
The many ghosts she had encountered before were, despite them evoking a mix of pity and revulsion, treated with care and dedication. She aided them in fulfilling their unresolved desires and had also directed Ye You to make the dreams of those who wished for a better future life a reality.
Truth be told, she had never fooled anyone, so Ning Yue’s words felt like an insult to her.
Taking a deep breath, Sisi responded solemnly, "Ning Yue, I have already gathered some soul power and have aided many ghosts in fulfilling their desires. I swear I’ve never fooled anyone."
Ning Yue sneered, "You act as if you’re so capable. Why can’t you fulfill my wish then?"
Like a serene lake, Sisi looked at her calmly and responded, "Because your soul power isn’t worth trading for in marriage."
"You..." Ning Yue’s complexion altered slightly, and she was momentarily lost for words. She pouted childishly at Qin Sisi in frustration.
With a sigh, Sisi decided it was pointless to stay any longer. Not only had she failed, but she had also found out about Grandma Chu’s origin.
She turned to Grandma Chu saying, "Grandma Chu, I apologize for the intrusion today. I’ll take my leave now."
After this, she turned around and headed towards the door.
"Hey...wait!" Ning Yue suddenly called out from behind her.
Turning around, Qin Sisi inquired baffled, "Is there anything else?"
Gauging every action from Ning Yue’s prior attitude, Sisi assumed Ning Yue couldn’t wait for her to leave.
Ning Yue looked a bit embarrassed and hesitated before finally saying, "Can you give me another Revealing Soul Pill? I want to spend one more day with my brother."
Hearing this, Qin Sisi was speechless. What a typical child, asking for help after displaying such an unpleasant attitude earlier.
While she could indeed hand over another Revealing Soul Pill, Qin Sisi decided to give Ning Yue a small lesson in respect, given her arrogant attitude and rude words.
So, Sisi coldly retorted, "May I ask why I should give you a Revealing Soul Pill?"
Ning Yue seemed caught off guard by Qin Sisi’s response and anxiously said, "Aren’t you friends with my brother? Don’t friends help each other?"
With a calm expression, Sisi replied, "You’re right, that’s why I helped him by finding you and gave you a Revealing Soul Pill so that you two could meet. As his friend, I didn’t mind helping you, but by what right do you demand my help time and again?"
"But...but..." Ning Yue’s cheeks turned red, and despite trying to offer a defense, she stuttered, unable to justify her demands.
If someone helps you, it’s kindness. If they don’t, it’s their right. Why should they always accede to your demands when you continue to insult them?
Looking at the anxious and flustered Ning Yue, Grandma Chu sighed and shook her head. Turning to Qin Sisi, she said, "Miss Sisi, Ning Yue is young and naive. Could you please help her this one last time for my sake?"
Feigning innocence, Sisi asked, "Grandma Chu, didn’t you proclaim earlier that you had no desires left? So, what’s brought about this sudden change of tune?"
Grandma Chu found herself in an awkward spot, having just rejected Qin Sisi’s request. It seemed like karma had caught up rather quickly.
Grandma Chu, having lived in peace for many years because of her mana, was traditionally revered by the nearby ghosts and those passing through. They would respectfully assist her whenever needed, and she had grown accustomed to this.
Though she treated Sisi politely due to her fear of Sisi’s spiritual power, Grandma Chu was still condescending in her demeanor. Upon receiving a snide remark from Sisi, she was speechless. Even though she tried to maintain her composure, her wrinkled old face revealed her discomfort.
However, it became increasingly evident to Grandma Chu that while Sisi respected her, she was not afraid of her.
Sisi had no real intention of making things difficult for them. Seeing the awkward expressions on both their faces, she decided to let things go.
Sisi extended her hand towards Ye You. Understanding her quiet gesture, Ye You placed his paw on her hand for a brief moment. When he lifted his paw away, Sisi’s palm held a golden pill.
She brought the pill up to Ning Yue’s face, saying, "Here you go."
Although Ning Yue’s response was brazen, she understood that Sisi was helping her. She awkwardly accepted the pill, muttering a low "Thank you."
Sisi responded calmly, "No need for thanks, I did this for Grandma Chu. If anyone, you should thank her."
Sisi knew that Ning Yue would probably not thank her sincerely. Therefore, she decided to bestow favours on Grandma Chu, hoping that Grandma Chu would appreciate this gesture.
Indeed, Grandma Chu’s face softened a bit upon witnessing Sisi’s respect for her.
Ning Yue felt relieved and thanked Grandma Chu sweetly.
Grandma Chu chuckled and said with a hoarse voice, "Young girl, you should know who the real person to thank is."
Ning Yue pouted, glanced at Qin Sisi, and remained silent.
Sisi too didn’t feel like arguing with her any longer, so she bid Grandma Chu goodbye once again and started heading towards the entrance.
"Miss, please wait." Grandma Chu stopped Sisi this time.
Sisi stopped and turned around, politely asking, "Does Grandma Chu need something more?"
Grandma Chu hesitated for a moment before responding, "Please come again tonight."
With dawn breaking, a new day had begun.
Sisi looked at Grandma Chu in confusion. Why ask her to return? Ning Yue and Grandma Chu were already aware of her intentions and had refused her request. What could they mean by asking her to come again?
Grandma Chu said mysteriously, "Miss, you don’t need to question too much. It will be clear once you come tomorrow night."
Sisi glanced at Ye You and decided to return. Since she had Ye You by her side, there was nothing to fear.
So Sisi replied out loud, "Very well, I’ll visit Grandma Chu again tomorrow night."
Grandma Chu nodded slightly. Raising her walking stick from the ground, she swung it forward, and in the blink of an eye, Ning Yue and her visible presence vanished.
With surprise, Sisi blinked, acknowledging that Grandma Chu had some tricks up her sleeve.
From the side, Ye You remarked, "It’s almost four o’clock. It’s time for them to hide."
It turned out it was time for them to disappear. With a sigh of relief, Sisi left the damp and moldy bathroom with Ye You. They quickly crossed the hall and reached the window they’d initially come through.
As the Invisible Bubble spell had expired, Ye You could only use magic to transform into a semi-transparent silver sphere, carrying them home.
