Upon seeing Lan Di ending his inquiry, Qin Sisi stepped forward with a laugh, saying, "I didn’t see it coming, but you’re quite good at entertaining children."
Lan Di threw Qin Sisi an enchanting look, cleared his throat and said, "Is that so? Would you care to have some fun out with me, Sisi? You’ll find plenty about me worth praising."
"Dare you say that again!" Before Qin Sisi could respond, Ye You’s cold voice resounded from behind Lan Di.
With a slight hint of exasperation, Lan Di pulled a face and said loudly, "Alright, I didn’t say anything."
Ignoring Lan Di’s frivolity, Qin Sisi asked seriously, "Are those clues enough to find Lele’s mother?"
Lan Di replied, "It shouldn’t be too difficult. I’ll look into it when I get back. However, I won’t have time to do it today. I can only respond to you tomorrow night."
Qin Sisi nodded and said, "Okay, that’s fine."
"I’ll be off then," Lan Di said cheerfully to Qin Sisi before turning towards the corner where he had appeared.
Watching Lan Di head towards the northwest corner of the room to leave, Qin Sisi suddenly remembered something and couldn’t help but ask, "Hey, Lan Di."
"What’s up, beautiful Sisi?" Lan Di turned back, his smile radiant.
Qin Sisi hesitated for a second and asked, "Why didn’t the girl in the blue skirt come with you this time?"
Each previous time she had summoned Lan Di, the girl named Pei Pei would always accompany him. This time, Lan Di had been here for quite a long time, but Pei Pei didn’t appear, which puzzled Qin Sisi.
Lan Di made a disdainful face in response, saying, "I sent her away."
"Sent her away?" Qin Sisi’s eyes widened in surprise.
Lan Di shrugged nonchalantly and said, "She was following me all the time, so annoying. I was in a bad mood, yelled at her and she ran away crying."
Qin Sisi rolled her eyes at Lan Di, speechless, "Didn’t you try to bring her back?"
Lan Di scoffed and said, "Why should I chase her? I’m free on my own!"
Shaking her head, Qin Sisi replied, "Xiao Hei was right, you really don’t appreciate what you have."
Lan Di helplessly stated, "The two of you really are in tune. What’s this about not appreciating what you have? I appreciate what I like, and I find what I don’t like troublesome."
Qin Sisi was momentarily at a loss for words. What Lan Di said seemed to be making sense. Liking versus disliking often doesn’t have a definitive reason. No matter how hard you pursue someone or give to them, if they simply don’t like you, it’s something that can’t be helped.
Then, Qin Sisi’s expression suddenly changed, showing a hint of embarrassment on her face. She had been so focused on the second half of the conversation that she had ignored the terms "couple" and "husband and wife" that Lan Di had mentioned initially.
Bushing furiously, Qin Sisi snapped at Lan Di, "What nonsense are you talking about! What couple!"
Laughing, Lan Di playfully yelled to Ye You, "Black cat, it seems you’re not quite there yet! You need to up your game!"
As he spoke, Lan Di leapt lightly towards the northwest corner of the room, plunged below the floor, and disappeared from sight.
Annoyed yet helpless, Qin Sisi grumbled under her breath, "That irritating Lan Di."
A hint of a smile flashed in Ye You’s eyes as he looked at Qin Sisi and said, "He wasn’t entirely wrong."
Qin Sisi’s face turned even redder. She stole a glance at Ye You and said softly, "How was he not wrong? We’re not... "
"We will be one day," Ye You said firmly.
"You... I’m not talking to you anymore," said Qin Sisi, blushing as she stomped her foot and turned away. She went to play with the balloons with Lele.
Under Lele’s influence, Qin Sisi also began to bounce around. The sound of Lele’s childlike laughter mingled with Qin Sisi’s bell-like laughter, echoing joyfully throughout the room.
It was rare for Ye You to see Qin Sisi in such a relaxed and genuine state. He couldn’t help but stare at her. Qin Sisi’s lively jumping figure was cast as a clear reflection in Ye You’s shining eyes.
After a while of playing with Lele, it was nearly four o’clock. For Lele’s wellbeing, Qin Sisi asked Ye You to take him back into his Portable Space.
Ye You’s fire magic method of warming the soles of the feet worked like a charm. Qin Sisi’s body had recovered completely. During the day, Qin Sisi spent her time resting and practicing magic.
When night fell again, Qin Sisi finally received a message from Lan Di, which clearly outlined Lele’s situation and his mother’s current address.
Ye You informed Qin Sisi via text that Lele had been gone for five years.
This meant that Lele had spent the past five years in the dark and filthy sewer.
Qin Sisi sighed, secretly making a resolution to help Lele find his mother.
After reading the message, she showed it to Ye You, who suggested, "We should act immediately."
"Alright," said Qin Sisi, also hoping to find Lele’s mother as soon as possible.
With a flick of his paws, Ye You summoned Lele’s ghost from the Portable Space.
Qin Sisi took Lele by the hand and said with a smile, "Lele, we know where your mom is now. Would you like me to take you to her?"
"Yes," replied Lele, his face bursting with joy, a gleam of absolute delight in his sparkling eyes.
An unpleasant thought occurred to Qin Sisi. When she had taken Xiao Dan to his parents, they had had another child, and Xiao Dan had grown resentful - even trying to murder his own brother because of it. Lele had been dead for five years, and it was very likely that his parents had had a second child. She wasn’t sure if he would be able to handle it.
So she said to Lele, "Lele, you’ve been away from home for five years, and some things might have changed. But remember, your parents still love you very much."
"Changes? What changes?" Lele seemed completely confused, as though he had no idea what Qin Sisi was talking about.
With a quiet sigh, Qin Sisi continued, "I don’t know exactly. How about we go and see together?"
"Hmm," Lele nodded, his hopeful gaze left hanging in mid-air.
Qin Sisi led Lele to the balcony window, opened the glass pane and called out, "Wings of Rainbow!"
The radiant wings unfurled behind her, tearing a colorful gap in the surrounding darkness. Even the confusion and fear of the night seemed diluted.
Ye You naturally wouldn’t allow Qin Sisi to expose herself so openly, even in the dead silence of the night. There could still be a pair of eyes returning late lurking somewhere in the darkness.
Lele was marveled by the sight before him. Looking at Qin Sisi’s dazzling wings, he opened his mouth in awe, "My God! That’s amazing! You are definitely an angel, Sisi."
"Angel?" Qin Sisi chuckled as she looked at Lele.
Lele nodded enthusiastically and said, "Yeah, you’re so pretty and you have wings, you must be an angel."
