Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Mysterious Homicide_1

Qin Sisi leaned back in her chair, sweeping a hand through her hair, and said nonchalantly, "What is it? Speak up."

Ning Hao gathered his thoughts, and intoned solemnly, "Recently, I’ve come across a case. It’s a bit strange."

Qin Sisi turned her head slightly to look at Ning Hao, surprised flickering in her eyes. No matter how strange a case was, it was still a police matter. What did it have to do with her?

Ning Hao saw Qin Sisi’s confusion and immediately explained, "The victims were a couple. All the signs suggested that they had killed each other. But we can’t find any motive for their crime. Not to mention the methods used were exceptionally bloody and eerie."

Qin Sisi was intrigued by the case Ning Hao described. After mulling it over, she suggested, "It might be possible that someone else murdered both of them and then fabricated the scene to look like they inflicted harm upon each other."

Ning Hao nodded in approval, "That was my initial thought. But the CCTV footage from the elevator and the corridors, as well as the crime scene, showed no signs of anyone else having been there."

Qin Sisi furrowed her brows in thought, eventually saying, "The reason you came to see me, surely it wasn’t for me to help analyze the case, right?"

Even though Qin Sisi possessed some special abilities, she didn’t have any investigative training. There was no clear reason for Ning Hao to seek her input on the case.

Ning Hao laughed helplessly, "That’s right. I’m a bit troubled by this case, so I wanted to ask you to use your special abilities to help me."

Qin Sisi paused, "You mean..."

Ning Hao sighed, and said gravely, "There are many strange aspects to this case. I’ve got the feeling that it wasn’t carried out by an ordinary person."

Ning Hao emphasized the word "person", and Qin Sisi understood, if it wasn’t a person, then it must be a ghost. This was why Ning Hao had come to see her.

Once she suspected it might have something to do with ghosts, Qin Sisi’s interest piqued, and she agreed, "Alright, I can give it a try."

Ning Hao seemed relieved, he thanked her, "Thank you, Sisi."

Qin Sisi chuckled lightly, "Don’t thank me yet. I can only try my best, but it doesn’t mean I can actually help."

Ning Hao replied cheerfully, "I understand, it’s alright. Just your willingness to help makes me happy. Let’s go to the crime scene."

"Alright." Qin Sisi agreed, as she stood up and gently stroked Ye You’s dark, soft fur.

Ning Hao’s gaze followed, and at the sight of Ye You’s eyes, he felt an indescribable discomfort in his heart.

Due to his profession, Ning Hao had a keen insight. There was definitely something strange about this cat. But, what could be wrong with a cat?

Ning Hao, confused, shook his head.

Realizing that Ning Hao was still sitting on the bench without moving, Qin Sisi looked at him curiously, "Is there something else?"

Ning Hao quickly composed himself and stood up, "No, nothing. I just find your cat quite fascinating. It’s always sticking to you."

Qin Sisi merely smiled without a word, holding Ye You close to her chest.

Ning Hao suggested tentatively, "We’re going to a serious situation. What about leaving your pet at home?"

Qin Sisi immediately refused firmly, "No."

Seeing Ning Hao’s stunned expression, Qin Sisi realized she shouldn’t have been that assertive and calmly proposed, "Officer Ning, haven’t you heard that black cats are spiritual?"

Besides, since he already knew about her special abilities, surely he could accept the fact she had a mystical spirit pet.

Black cats are spiritual?

Ning Hao slightly raised his eyebrows, feeling suddenly at ease. That could explain the uneasiness he felt when he saw the black cat.

Ning Hao gave a slight chuckle, "That’s true, all the witches in TV shows always have a black cat by their side."

A witch? Qin Sisi blinked.

Ning Hao paused, hastily and somewhat awkwardly explaining, "Err... I didn’t mean to say you’re a witch, what I meant was..."

Ning Hao felt like he was digging himself deeper, struggling to find the right words.

Upon seeing Ning Hao stuttering and completely unlike his usual logical and articulate self, Qin Sisi couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

Ning Hao also laughed helplessly, "You understand what I mean, right?"

Qin Sisi didn’t respond, but gently smiled, "Officer Ning, shall we go?"

Ning Hao’s eyes flickered, "Sisi, could you maybe... stop calling me Officer? Like you used to, just call me by my name, would that be okay?"

Qin Sisi went silent. Even though their friendly banter had eased the tension between them, a touch of distant coolness still hovered in her eyes.

Ning Hao paused briefly before saying, "Sisi, I’ve always kept my word. What some people deserve befalls them – I won’t look into it any further."

Qin Sisi remembered, Ye You had also said that Ning Hao was a man of his word.

Hence, Qin Sisi raised her gaze to meet Ning Hao’s eyes and clearly said, "Ning Hao, let’s go."

"Alright, let’s go." Ning Hao replied cheerfully. He turned and led Qin Sisi to his car, his face, unseen by Qin Sisi, revealing a sunny smile.

Ning Hao brought Qin Sisi to the crime scene—a beauty salon located in a bustling neighborhood.

Upon entering the elevator, Ning Hao began to brief Qin Sisi during the ride up, "This building has six floors. The beauty salon is on the top floor, the lower five floors are all leased to other tenants."

As he was speaking, the elevator reached the sixth floor. The doors opened, and Ning Hao and Qin Sisi stepped out.

Due to the ongoing investigation, there was a police line at the entrance of the salon, but obviously Ning Hao wasn’t restricted by it.

Leading Qin Sisi past the police line, he took her to a large room.

The room was a suite split into two areas. The outer section contained office desks and shelves. The inner section appeared to be a bedroom visible from the entrance with a large bed placed within.

Ning Hao continued, "This beauty salon was jointly run by the deceased couple. This served as both their office and their resting area. They also had a separate residence, but if their workday ran late, they would lodge here. On the night they were attacked, they were staying here."

Seeing that the furnishings in the outer room were neat and tidy with no sign of anything amiss, Qin Sisi proceeded towards the inner room.

Ning Hao stopped Qin Sisi and warned, "The situation inside is a bit complex, be prepared."

Qin Sisi gave him a glance, realizing that the inner bedroom must be the primary crime scene. She wasn’t sure what she was about to encounter.
