Chapter 155: Chapter 155 Cause and Effect_1

Seeing Xiao Jin’s soul drifting towards the Messenger of Death, Qin Sisi couldn’t help but feel a rush of urgency and she blurted out, "Wait."

It was not easy to come across a ghost, how could she let them go without making any attempt to stop it?

Qin Sisi took a few steps forward, about to speak when the Messenger of Death cut her off, "Young miss, I have already made a concession to you once before. Don’t push your luck."

Qin Sisi froze, the words she had intended to say caught in her throat.

It seemed that coincidences can make for compelling stories, she had happened upon the same Messenger of Death as before. She’d already intervened once before, having another go seemed uncalled for.

Qin Sisi lowered her gaze to Ye You, seeking his advice.

Ye You uttered a low "meow" a few times. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Qin Sisi nodded and then addressed the Messenger of Death, "Lord Ghost, thank you for your understanding last time. I won’t impose on you this time."

The Messenger of Death remained silent, his black cloak resembling an immeasurable black hole. By now, Xiao Jin was standing behind the Messenger of Death, appearing ready to leave any moment.

Feeling slightly embarrassed, Qin Sisi cleared her throat and said, "Lord Ghost, seems like we’re pretty fated, huh!"

The Messenger of Death slightly turned in Qin Sisi’s direction and replied coldly, "I bid you farewell. I hope we never meet again."

With that, the Messenger of Death, together with Xiao Jin’s soul, rose into the air and vanished into the dark night in a blink of an eye.

Farewell forever?

Qin Sisi let out a bitter smile and said helplessly, "I, on the other hand, wish we do run into each other again."

Because wherever the Messenger of Death was, there were sure to be souls there as well.

Zhuang Qin looked in the direction where the Messenger of Death and Xiao Jin had disappeared, a trace of desolation spreading over his face.

Qin Sisi gazed at his lonely figure, not hurrying him, quietly waiting because she knew Zhuang Qin would stick to his promise.

After a short while, Zhuang Qin turned back, looked at Qin Sisi, and said, "Fairy, my wish has been fulfilled. Now, I will offer my soul power to you."

Qin Sisi nodded, passed the Spirit Gathering Pill that Ye You had given her earlier into Zhuang Qin’s hands and said loudly, "This is a Spirit Gathering Pill. Your soul will scatter into pieces after you pass, but using the power of the Spirit Gathering Pill, it can condense back together within a hundred years. After that, you can reincarnate."

Zhuang Qin looked down at the faint golden glow of the Spirit Gathering Pill and asked, "What if I don’t take the Spirit Gathering Pill?"

Qin Sisi hesitated for a moment before replying, "If you don’t take the Spirit Gathering pill, it will take at least a thousand years for your soul to condense again."

Zhuang Qin let out a gentle laugh and said, "If a thousand years can bring me some insights, it wouldn’t count as wasted. I am willing to wait longer. I hope that when I return to the mortal world, the world will be peaceful and harmonious."

Qin Sisi froze, never expecting someone would refuse to use the Spirit Gathering Pill.

A thousand years is a long time. Fragmented souls wandering aimlessly in the void, how lonely and dull they must feel.

Ye You’s eyes gave a flash, and he moved his paw slightly. A faint purple light hit Zhuang Qin’s throat, forcing his mouth to open involuntarily.

Ye You blew a puff of air, and the Spirit Gathering Pill in Qin Sisi’s palm slowly rose and flew straight into Zhuang Qin’s mouth.

A few seconds later, Zhuang Qin recovered, rubbing his throat with a wry smile.

Qin Sisi smiled and said, "Since you are ambitious, why waste so much time waiting? You should be on your way sooner. The world is never going to be perfect, which is why we need people like you."

Zhuang Qin’s gaze cleared and he nodded heavily.

Ye You waved his paw and drew forth the Spirit Conversion Bottle. The beautiful white bottle spun slowly, particularly captivating in the pitch-dark night.

"May the Fairy protect herself. I bid you farewell."

Zhuang Qin bowed once again, before he began to fade, becoming a puff of milky-white smoke that slowly vanished into the Spirit Conversion Bottle.

Ye You flicked his paw and the Spirit Conversion Bottle flew back into his hand, disappearing instantly.

Qin Sisi looked at Ye You, and gave a faint smile, before raising her head to look at the endless night sky.

With Zhuang Qin’s kindness, noble character, profound knowledge, and unwavering faith, Heaven owed him a scholar’s title—it would surely be repaid double.

Had he truly killed Zhou Zichen, despite it being revenge for his past self and this life’s Xiao Jin, it would still have tainted him with the sin of killing, and damaging his future blessings.

Yet, due to the strange twists and turns of destiny, due to a mere difference in timing, Zhou Zichen ended up being killed by Xiao Jin’s soul. Xiao Jin was a sort to reap retribution in this life, even though her blessings in her next life might be somewhat affected, the impact wouldn’t be significant.

Zhuang Qin remained unblemished, having traveled through the realms of both life and death untainted.

Someday, Zhuang Qin would return to this world and, with his kindness, knowledge, and determination, write the story of a life that belonged to him and him alone.

Qin Sisi carried Ye You and slowly walked back to their accommodation. Their business here was done; it was time to head back.

However, when she went to buy train tickets, the high-speed train for the next day had already sold out.

Qin Sisi started to worry. Today was the 14th of the lunar October, tomorrow Ye You would be able to reveal his true form using a mirror. She wanted to get back as soon as possible.

In order to return home sooner, Qin Sisi bought tickets for a regular train—seven hours by rail, arriving in S City close to 11 pm.

Indeed the comfort level of a regular train can’t be compared to a high-speed one!

Qin Sisi endured and finally arrived at the station. Getting off the train with her bag, she looked at the bright lights and bustling crowd, and exhaled deeply.

Upon returning from another trip, she’d obtained another soul power.

But on second thought, the soul power she’d obtained this month was much less than the previous one. They would have to work even harder.

Qin Sisi pursed her lips, looked down at her bag, where Ye You was.

As long as he was around, she felt a sense of peace.

Qin Sisi carried her bag out of the train station, and once they reached a quieter area, she took out Ye You and said quietly, "We’re back."

Ye You raised his head to look around. The night had completely enveloped the earth. He said with concern, "The train trip was too exhausting. We should head back and rest."

Qin Sisi nodded and said, "Yes, my body is aching from sitting for over seven hours."

As she said this, Qin Sisi stretched her body a bit.

Ye You blinked and said, "How about...we don’t take the train. Let’s fly back instead."

Qin Sisi paused for a moment, then realized what Ye You meant. With wide eyes, she asked, "Can we do that?"

Ye You smiled gently, "Why not?"

Having said that, Ye You waved his paw and activated the Invisible Bubble, hiding both himself and Qin Sisi.

Indeed, why not?
