Chapter 1378: Chapter 1378: The Legend from 3,000 Years Ago

Qin Sisi and Ye You couldn’t help but get excited after hearing Chen Pei’s story. After searching for so long, they finally found someone who knew the exact clues about Inkwest City.

Although the Meiyin Ugly Fish mentioned the name of Inkwest City, it had no knowledge of the situation there. However, Chen Pei clearly knew more specific details.

Ye You asked eagerly, "What happened afterward? How is Inkwest City related to the Mu family and the water scarcity problem of the Mu Water Clan?"

To know one’s enemy is to win battle after battle without defeat. The more they learned about Inkwest City, the greater the chances of obtaining the Life Divine Water from him in the future.

Qin Sisi also looked at Chen Pei with anticipation.

The strong interest they showed gave Chen Pei a sense of accomplishment, so he spoke more earnestly: "It is said that this area was not always so short of water. Several rivers flowed down from the center of the Deep Pupil Desert, the Kurosawa Highland, converging into a huge lake behind the Chief Mansion. At that time, the Mu Water Clan had tens of thousands of people, everyone had ample water supply, and life was prosperous and peaceful."

Chen Pei’s parents looked at their child lovingly, their eyes glowing, seemingly immersed in that old time of happiness and beauty alongside Chen Pei’s tale.

Chen Pei continued, "Back then, the Deity Guardian, Inkwest City, lived in Kurosawa Highland, and the people of the Mu Water Clan resided in the Stoning Plain. For thousands of years, both sides lived in peace. About three thousand years ago, the Mu Water Clan had a young master named Mu Ze who intruded into the Kurosawa Highland, disturbing Deity Inkwest City’s slumber, causing the Deity’s dissatisfaction with the Mu Water Clan.

Later, Mu Ze succeeded to the position of Clan Leader. The grand elderly Pu Lizi, in defense of Mu Ze, spoke disrespectfully to the Deity. In anger, the Deity slew Pu Lizi. Mu Ze, seeking revenge for Pu Lizi, injured the Deity while he was unguarded, provoking the Deity’s fury. The Deity then retracted all the rivers flowing from the Kurosawa Highland to the Stoning Plain.

The rivers vanished, and the huge lake slowly dried up. The Mu Water Clan people lost the water sources they depended on for survival, and many died every day from the lack of water.

In order to atone for his mistake, Clan Leader Mu Ze began to use Water Magic to release clear water, which flowed from the Chief Mansion along a thin pipe to the outside, where others would collect it with clay pots.

Mu Ze also left orders that the descendants of the Mu family must take up the responsibility of providing water to the clanspeople. This tradition has continued ever since."

After Chen Pei finished speaking, his father sighed and added, "Although the Mu family has been doing their best, the water gathered by Water Magic is ultimately limited. The population of the Mu Water Clan has sharply decreased from tens of thousands to a few thousand people. For these three thousand years, everyone has lived very difficult lives."

Qin Sisi and Ye You both nodded. For the Mu family, constantly using Water Magic to condense water sources, even if a few people took turns, was a very arduous task.

For ordinary clanspeople, the scarcity of water made life difficult, naturally leading to complaints.

Chen Pei’s mother mysteriously said, "There’s another thing. The Mu Ze Clan Leader, who angered the Deity, has always lived in this world, wishing to die but unable to. It is said that this is the Deity’s punishment, making him watch his clanspeople suffer helplessly."

This information shocked Qin Sisi and Ye You. Qin Sisi widened her eyes and asked, "You mean, he has been alive for over three thousand years?"

Chen Pei and his parents all nodded in unison. It seemed that this matter was no secret among the Mu Water Clan.

Qin Sisi and Ye You exchanged a glance, shock overwhelming their hearts.

For Magic Practitioners of the Demon Sacred Realm, increasing Magic power enhances lifespan, but even at the highest level of a Magic Saint, lifespan only increases by two thousand five hundred sixty years, plus the original one hundred years, at most two thousand six hundred years.

Yet this Mu Ze Clan Leader had lived for over three thousand years. Could it be that his Magic power surpasses that of a Magic Saint?

If he is so powerful yet unable to defeat the Deity, then how terrifying must Inkwest City’s power be!

Ye You pondered for a moment, then tentatively asked, "Is the Magic power of the Mu Ze Clan Leader extremely formidable?"

Chen Pei scratched his head and replied, a bit embarrassed, "I don’t really know about that."

He was only a teenager and had only heard about events from many years ago. He had no detailed knowledge.

Qin Sisi and Ye You did not ask further. However, Mu Ze’s age left a deep mystery in their hearts. Whether it was Mu Ze’s own power or the Deity Inkwest City’s punishment, they would have to investigate further themselves.

After learning of the stories about the Mu Water Clan and Inkwest City, Ye You and Qin Sisi decided to first take a look around the Chief Mansion area. Then they would carefully and thoroughly plan their journey to the Kurosawa Highland to seek the Deity Inkwest City.

Before leaving, Qin Sisi asked Chen Pei to find a relatively large container. As they say, meeting is destiny, and since Chen Pei had shared so much information with them, she decided to give them more water supply.

Chen Pei and his parents searched for a long time and then found a large stone cistern in the small storeroom. It was tucked in the far corner, filled with various miscellaneous items.

After all, the cistern had not been used for a very long time, as there was simply never enough water. Its function had changed from holding water to storing items.

Chen Pei and his parents scrambled to clear the debris out of the cistern and cleaned it. Then, with ingratiating smiles, they looked at Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi raised her hand, casting the Silent Drizzle Water Attribute Magic skill. A stream of water, as thick as a finger, shot from her palm into the cistern. Bright sunlight poured down, forming a rainbow over the stream.

Chen Pei and his parents watched the water shooting from Qin Sisi’s palm, their faces full of joy and astonishment. They had lived in an extremely water-scarce environment since birth and had never seen so much water before.

A moment later, the cistern was filled with water. Qin Sisi withdrew her Magic power.

Chen Pei and his parents gathered around the cistern, full of excitement, tears of joy streaming down their faces. In their hearts, having so much water and being able to drink and use it freely was the happiest moment of their lives.

Chen Pei rushed to kneel in front of Qin Sisi and Ye You, expressing his gratitude, "Thank you so much! You must be immortals sent from heaven to save the Mu Water Clan."

Qin Sisi gently replied, "We are not immortals; we are just here looking for someone. Can you tell us how to get to the Chief Mansion and the Kurosawa Highland?"
