Chapter 133: Chapter 133: A String of Nightmares_1

Qin Sisi inexplicably thought of Wang Haolong and Liu Xiaotian who used to live here. She never participated in their life, but from their later descriptions, their journey from dating to marriage must have been a few sweet moments less and a bit more drama-filled.

With a slight sigh in her heart, Qin Sisi couldn’t help asking Ye You, "Xiao Hei, do you think Wang Haolong and Liu Xiaotian will be happy in their next life?"

Ye You pondered over this, but eventually shook his head and replied, "I’m not sure. My job was to bring them together and lead them to marriage. Whether they will be happy is in their own hands."

People always assume that starting over would compensate for regrets and lead to a perfect ending. Little do they know that character determines fate, and if they cannot learn from their past mistakes, they will merely repeat the old path.

As the setting sun leaned westward, Qin Sisi gazed at the scorching sunset outside the window, and silently murmured in her heart, "I wish you happiness."

As midnight gradually approached, the enveloping darkness shrouded the entire land, a crescent moon dimly visible, and the stars were hidden thick clouds.

In a house near the antique market, Wu Cheng, with a self-satisfied smile on his face, was sound asleep on a comfortable bed.

When the hour and minute hands both pointed at twelve, Wu Cheng was startled awake by a low roaring sound. He drowsily opened his eyes, only to see a fearsome black tiger standing by his bed.

"Ah..." Wu Cheng screamed in fear, retreating swiftly backward. He quickly encountered the headboard of his bed, and with the wall directly behind it, he had nowhere else to back away.

Wu Cheng, his heart racing with fear, stared at the black tiger in front of him, his body shaking violently. Even though the night was pitch dark, the figure of the black tiger was distinctly clear, its pair of purple eyes giving off a nearly supernatural glow in the dark, making one succumb to terror on sight.

Seeing Wu Cheng retreating, the black tiger approached steadily. Its purple eyes remained on Wu Cheng, a discernible trace of disdain.

Wu Cheng scared to the point of weakness, his legs trembling, even his breath was weary.

A sharp flicker in the eyes of the black tiger, it jumped swiftly, its giant maw opening at the same time, biting Wu Cheng’s head off in one go, blood spouting like a fountain from his neck.

"Ah!"

Another scream, Wu Cheng bolted upright on the bed, clutching his blanket, gasping heavily.

It had been a nightmare!

Wu Cheng switched on the bedside lamp. The dull, yellow light filled the entire room, calming and serene, devoid of black tigers or blood.

Wu Cheng felt somewhat relieved, his panting gradually subsided. Leaning against the headboard for a short respite, Wu Cheng laid down once again, preparing to fall asleep. Because of his lingering fear, he kept the light on.

But just as Wu Cheng closed his eyes, the ferocious black tiger reappeared before him, its pair of purple eyes wicked yet vibrant, staring fiercely at Wu Cheng as if ready to capture its prey.

Wu Cheng started, hurriedly opening his eyes. However, all that was before him was his dimly-lit bedroom. The faint light sprinkling on his beige bedsheet, nothing else.

With fear creeping up within him, Wu Cheng, thoughts in disarray, stared wide-eyed, taking in every detail of his surroundings, but finding no sign of the black tiger.

Wu Cheng sighed in relief, his eyes wandering around, trying to convince himself not to be afraid, it was just a dream.

Wu Cheng, uneasy and anxious, closed his eyes once again. The black tiger’s forepaws were already on the bed, its large eyes like bells, flickering purple light, a sight to dazzle. It was gradually closing in on him.

Wu Cheng, frightened, hastily opened his eyes. Before him was still the quiet, vacant bedroom, everything as usual.

Wu Cheng took a bewildered look at the objects in his room, his sight passing over each one by one, his eyes tense and vacant.

After a brief moment, Wu Cheng made another attempt to close his eyes, the black tiger, its gaping maw wide open, lunged at him.

Wu Cheng startled awake, immediately opening his eyes. Everything was still as usual.

Hallucination, all just hallucination...

Wu Cheng, while assuring himself, stared around the room, as if in search of something.

Time trickled away. Wu Cheng, his eyes sore from lack of sleep, finally could no longer keep them open and closed them. Then came a low growl "ahwoo", he saw his head being bitten off by the black tiger, blood gushing forth.

"Ah!"

Another scream from Wu Cheng, this time he was thoroughly frightened, no longer daring to close his eyes, keeping them wide open to survey his surroundings.

As the day gradually broke, Wu Cheng’s lingering fear from the night was slightly dissipated by the advent of daylight. He tried closing his eyes slightly to be pleasantly surprised that the black tiger did not reappear.

Wu Cheng drew a long breath, collapsed listlessly on the bed, finally closing his eyes, which had remained open throughout the night, and drifted off into a fatigue-induced sleep.

Ye You, hidden in the darkness, coldly took a glance at the sleeping Wu Cheng, turned around, and left his room, walking off into the fading night. He opened an air-floating, semi-transparent silver bubble, and casually floated towards the residence he shared with Qin Sisi.

It was not long before Ye You arrived home. He gently pushed open the window, jumped inside the apartment, tiptoed to the bedroom, jumped onto the bed, and snuggled up to Qin Sisi.

The sleeping Qin Sisi looked peaceful and adorable, her slightly curved eyelashes like weightless feathery fans, her petite nose, and cherry-red lips.

The gaze of Ye You softened even more. He couldn’t resist extending his paw, brushed aside a strand of hair that was falling on her cheek.

However, this small gesture woke up Qin Sisi. She opened her woke up dazedly, and when her eyes fell on Ye You, she was first surprised, then delighted: "You’re back!"

Ye You apologized: "I’m sorry, I woke you up."

Qin Sisi shook her head: "It’s fine, I wasn’t sleeping well anyway."

"Why couldn’t you sleep well?" Ye You’s tone was gentle and had a hint of amusement in his eyes.

"I..." Qin Sisi didn’t finish her sentence and instead blushed a little.

Ye You moved closer, whispered: "Is it because I wasn’t here?"

"I was just worried about you." Qin Sisi retorted, feigning anger.

Ye You chuckled lightly, whispering, "I’m back now. You don’t have to worry anymore, sleep well."

Having said this, Ye You gently laid his paw on Qin Sisi’s smooth back of the hand.

With a blush on her face, Qin Sisi wrapped her arm around Ye You’s soft body. Her heart, anxious for an entire night, finally settled down, and she drifted into a peaceful sleep.

Qin Sisi could afford to sleep in, but someone couldn’t.
