Chapter 955: Chapter 581: Golden Mist
Boom!
The sea, long devoid of storms, suddenly erupted with thunder and lightning, unleashing a tempest and pouring rain.
Despite the daylight surrounding it, a large central area was cloaked with dark clouds, hidden by dense storms, obscuring the view within, only briefly revealed by the lightning striking down from the sky, illuminating the silhouette of a giant ship within the storm.
In the captain’s cabin, Sage looked out at the sudden rain and wild lightning, and couldn’t help but swear, "Damn fishing!"
In this weather, forget the fish, even the sea beasts have burrowed into the depths; he might as well just fish out ghosts.
"Ah, calm down, have some dessert."
Marika came up from the stairway, placing a plate of desserts on the table.
On it were spiral pastries adorned with cream like profiteroles, made with the finest milk, honey, and sugar, seemingly frozen, offering a cool bite that indeed quelled the heat.
Sage clicked his tongue, sat down, and finished it in a few spoonfuls, then took out a cigar and lit it.
On the front sofa, Marika divided the dessert among Lily and Renedia, who were reading and sketching, while at a table further in front, Hawkins and Urouge were playing Old Maid.
Marika placed the dessert on the table, and the two nodded simultaneously, thanking her, before Hawkins reached out to draw an ordinary card from Urouge’s two remaining cards, leaving the old maid card in Urouge’s hand.
"You lost."
Hawkins said, "The leftover old maid card is in your hand."
"Damn, my luck is really bad this time." Urouge bemoaned.
"Oh, talking luck to a fortune teller, what a folly."
Sage laughed, "Even without his fruit, this guy’s card-playing skill is top-notch."
"Sometimes, breaking predetermined outcomes is a grand affair, Captain," Urouge said with a quirky smile, raising one hand.
Does he not know he’s losing?
Yet this too speaks of probability; even a single win holds significance.
"Similarly, I wish to know if my abilities can defy what they call fate. If there’s a hand where the other’s luck is superb, can I override it? That’s a joy too," Hawkins said.
"Your will isn’t meant to be spent here."
Sage rolled his eyes and asked, "Where are we now?"
Lily elegantly nibbled on her dessert, then carefully laid it down, wiping her mouth with a napkin before replying, "Two more hours."
Renedia quickly finished her dessert, teasingly ran her little tongue around her lips, and flashed her tiny fangs with a grin, "Such a huge storm, Sage’s bad luck is off the charts, we’ve had nothing but bad weather this journey, which means it’s entirely non-dangerous."
"Yes, yes, all my doing."
Sage had grown tired of arguing, "Even thinking about it can’t be dangerous, in this vast sea, there’s hardly anything left that can seem perilous to me, especially not some sneaky creature."
If anything were truly dangerous or tricky for him, it wouldn’t hide; those who cover up aren’t exactly men of will.
Two hours later, the Death Star sailed into the sea map’s void area, and contrary to the mist depicted on the map, there was no fog — just an ordinary sea area.
The seawater still swirled into vortices under the storm’s lash, and lightning struck the water, sending electric ripples across it.
Lily stepped out of the captain’s cabin, letting the wind and rain soak her clothes, even if equipped with a battle armor skirt, its wetness nicely outlined her toned legs, a perfectly slender waist, and the bulge her chest armor failed to cover.
She reached out a hand, closing her eyes slightly, to feel the direction and moisture of the wind.
Having weathered many storms, she could gauge the regular weather of the sea area by accounting for the storm’s intensity.
Seasonal climate islands exhibit varied storm intensities each season.
Spring island climates might have more lightning. Summer island climates see heavier rain curtains. Autumn storms rage fiercely, while winter brings a biting chill.
But this isn’t entirely reliable, the day’s weather and wind direction matter too, making it less straightforward to estimate.
Though with ample models, noting storm conditions against normal weather patterns, one can broadly predict outcomes.
"Hmm, light storm, sparse rain curtain, heavier lightning, weaker wind direction. Appears to be a low-wind region, sea waves at rest..."
Lily opened her eyes, "Spring Island waters, huh..."
She took up a telescope, scanning the distant rain curtain, despite the storm’s cover, the scope faintly revealed an island’s outline.
Judging by the outline, it’s typically a volcanic-shaped island, flat around, mountainous centrally.
Lily furrowed her brows; contrary to her intuition, something felt off.
From her experience, the island was ordinary, indeed a regularly ordinary normal island, whether inhabited was uncertain.
Usually, within Kaido’s domain, lacking maps implies most are uninhabited islands, with no recordable magnetic field, unlikely the Eternal Pose would deliberately chart this location.
What could be on such an island?
The treasure hidden by other pirates?
If it’s just that kind of thing... is it worth causing discrepancies in their memory?
...
Under the clear sky, sunlight shone on the island’s ground.
Bam!
In the ground, two figures collided and then immediately separated. At the center of their separation, two more people stood, seemingly enjoying the spectacle.
"Hmm hmm hmm hmm, fighting so fiercely? It’s practically obliterating the earth, even in front of me, the King of Void, Emperor of Space-Time, this is a formidable rival. No! An archenemy! An enemy of fate!"
The speaker had a slender build, with body proportions nearly perfect, and long hair covering half his cheek. At the moment, one hand was covering his face, his fingers apart exposing the other eye, his index finger aligned with the bridge of his nose, waist twisted oddly, legs in an unusual pose.
Overall, it looked like he was striking a pose, yet something was peculiar...
Behind him, a burly man dressed in women’s clothing shyly twisted his legs, energetically letting out a robust voice, "Come on, everyone, let’s stop fighting and coexist peacefully!"
"Don’t talk in such a disgusting tone, it doesn’t match your voice at all, nor your appearance!"
One of the figures who separated, a young man wearing goggles, landed on the ground. First, he shouted to the burly man, then yelled at the long-haired youth:
"And stop making arbitrary declarations, what enemy of fate, it’s our first meeting, don’t label others casually!"
The other person was silent, landed on the ground, clenched his hand, and stared intently at the goggled youth.
"Hahahahaha, enemy of fate, my most ancient foe! Also someone who will soon become my dear friend! At first glance, I knew your fate, under the wish of the Golden Mist, we will grow together, until the Gods’ Twilight begins!"
The long-haired youth laughed head back, extending his hand, "Why don’t we save it until the Golden Mist and then have a decisive battle? If you don’t agree, I’ll let you taste the power of my Dark Destruction Demon Dragon Wave."
"Ah... can the King of Space-Time use Dark Type moves? You’re not Blackbeard. And, as I said, stop labeling randomly! Who knows you, talking about dear friends!"
The goggled youth rolled his eyes but after thinking, relaxed his posture, stretched both hands upward, and said to the silent, steady burly man:
"However, I think he makes sense. If we can’t defeat you, why not wait for the Golden Mist to appear? Of course, the premise is it really appears. If it doesn’t, I don’t think we need to fight, after all, I don’t know you, there’s no conflict."
The burly man still didn’t speak, but his tense body relaxed after a moment, crossing his arms and standing aside.
"Well~ peace is the best, peace forever, everyone should be harmonious."
The energetic, robust man raised his fists to his chin, striking a girl-cheering pose, then said:
"Come on, unite everyone, it makes people feel secure after all, this is the Four Emperors’ territory, if discovered, that would be unpleasant."
"Don’t worry, they won’t come."
The goggled youth shrugged, "Those who disappeared won’t anyone have any impression of, including you. Such disaster-level characters wouldn’t come just for a little island..."
Crash!
Before he finished speaking, a thunderclap inexplicably boomed outside, instantly darkening the sky, as stormy winds and rain accompanied by roaring waves swept in, instantly billowing their clothes, soaking their hair.
The goggled youth instinctively turned his head, his face turning pale, "No way... am I such a jinx?"
"That is..."
The burly man in women’s clothing doing girl actions suddenly straightened, gripping the sword at his waist, his voice returning to normal.
The eye-covered youth couldn’t maintain his pose, his eyes almost bulging out.
They saw clearly.
An enormous storm suddenly assaulted, along with a ship’s silhouette looming within, nearing the shore.
Horrifying legend on the sea, tangible disaster...
The silent, unsmiling burly man now spoke through clenched teeth, "It’s a calamity!"
"It shouldn’t be, impossible..."
The goggled youth murmured, "The impressions should have all disappeared, why would he come personally? Luck? Is my luck too bad... why such a big pirate come to this island? Does he know the legend?"
Though he’s not the only one knowing the legend, the other three on the island obviously know, but it really is just a legend, its existence is uncertain.
Moreover, he’s certain that disaster-level person shouldn’t know, as if he knew, wouldn’t have sent some minions initially.
But now...
Why did he come personally!
