Chapter 173: Chapter 120: I Can Execute You Right Now

In a corridor of the academy’s outer court.

Having received the distress call, Lu Chao and Chen Xiao hurried over, following academy security.

A group of five young men and women blocked their path.

From the inner court insignias on their chests to their strength—at least forty-plus points of Life Energy—it was clear they were no ordinary students.

Behind them, Fang Xu and Xiong Cheng were in a sorry state, their faces flushed red as they were humiliated by two other inner court students.

Their communicators had been snatched away, now in the hands of a short-haired woman wearing a white Martial Arts uniform.

"Hee hee, you’re finally here."

Xiaoyu, the one holding the communicator, giggled as if her scheme had succeeded. The distress call was clearly their doing.

Taking in the scene, both Lu Chao and Chen Xiao’s expressions turned cold. Chen Xiao, unable to restrain himself, rushed to the front.

"Let them go!"

he demanded, his eyes furious. He took out his patrol badge with his left hand as a warning.

His right hand instinctively went to the gun on his hip.

The academy guard who had led them there turned pale and subconsciously started to back away.

The difference between inner and outer court students was like heaven and earth. For a nobody like him, the best way to keep his job was to see nothing.

"Let them go?"

"Just ’cause you say so?"

Lin Zhou, who was forcing Xiong Cheng into a half-kneel, sneered arrogantly.

Xu Feng, the young man with a buzz cut pinning Fang Xu to the ground, grinned and glanced at the patrol badge. "So what? You think being a patrol officer is a big deal?"

"Does being a patrol officer mean you don’t have to pay for things you break?"

he asked sarcastically, dangling a broken Platinum watch as if he’d seized the moral high ground.

The other five young men and women blocking the way also had mocking eyes and playful smiles. Centered around Mei Ning, they looked down on Lu Chao and Chen Xiao, scrutinizing them.

"Brother... Brother Chen..."

His forehead swollen and bleeding, Xiong Cheng still felt it was his fault. He opened his mouth to explain, "I really didn’t step on it."

"I really didn’t..."

"Did I say you could talk?!"

Lin Zhou cut him off with an arrogant sneer. A surge of power pressed down, making Xiong Cheng’s body tremble as he was about to be forced to his knees completely.

A vein throbbed on Chen Xiao’s forehead as he furiously drew his gun.

But this was exactly what they wanted. They didn’t back down in the slightest. Their leader, Mei Ning, even chuckled mockingly and clapped her hands softly. "Drawing a gun in Ring Academy? How impressive."

"Go on, shoot. If you have the guts."

There were seven inner court students in total: four at the professional level, two veterans, and one at the peak.

The invisible pressure made Chen Xiao’s arm tremble, and bloodshot veins appeared in his eyes.

Fang Xu, pinned to the ground, had a bitter taste in his mouth. With his face pressed against the floor, he couldn’t understand why, so close to graduation, he was still being bullied by these people.

"Go on, shoot."

Lin Zhou laughed domineeringly, his face a mask of brazen, arrogant confidence.

At his side, Xu Feng was the same, his eyes filled with contempt. "I really thought you had some nerve. Turns out you’re just a coward."

"If you don’t dare to shoot, then get on your knees."

The provocative taunts drilled into his ears.

Chen Xiao gritted his teeth, on the verge of losing all reason.

At the critical moment, Lu Chao stepped forward and pushed down the barrel of his gun. "Let’s talk."

He looked at the leader, Mei Ning. Sixty points of Life Energy, the only one at peak professional level. He knew she was the one truly in charge.

His gaze swept over the humiliated forms of Fang Xu and Xiong Cheng. Lu Chao’s expression had turned as placid as a dark pool. "What will it take," he asked with unnerving calm, "for you to let them go?"

"Oh?"

Slightly surprised, Mei Ning hadn’t expected him to regain his composure so quickly.

The plan had changed slightly, and she signaled with her eyes.

In response, Lin Zhou, the veteran professional, quickly swapped places with another young man and walked straight toward them.

"You’re not worthy of talking to our big sister."

he said domineeringly, while Xu Feng and the others behind him wore mocking expressions.

He then walked up to Lu Chao, his eyes contemptuous as he looked him up and down. "But, since you want to get involved, fine."

"In that case, you can take the fall for them, right?"

The mockery in his words was clear to everyone.

Xiaoyu, still holding the communicator, had at some point switched it to video mode. She giggled, apparently wanting to record what she considered to be an interesting scene.

"They’re my brothers. If they’re in trouble, of course I’ll take responsibility."

Lu Chao nodded, his voice calm and his expression unreadable.

Behind him, Chen Xiao clenched his fists, and the expressions on Fang Xu and Xiong Cheng’s faces grew complicated.

"Oh? So loyal?"

Lin Zhou’s eyes darted, and a playful smile touched his lips.

He stepped closer to Lu Chao again and poked him in the chest. "You don’t see many patrol officers as bold as you. Reckless enough, and got some balls!"

"Alright then. Tell me, how do you want to ’talk’?"

he asked, shooting him a sideways glance. Mei Ning and the others also had mocking looks on their faces.

Seeing this, Chen Xiao became enraged again, about to lose control, but Lu Chao suddenly smiled and beckoned gently. "Come here."

"Oh?"

Raising an eyebrow, Lin Zhou hesitated for a moment. Though confused, he still stepped closer.

Lu Chao leaned in as if to whisper something in his ear, and Lin Zhou turned slightly to listen.

WHOOSH!!

In that instant, a gust of wind stirred, and everyone froze.

Lin Zhou also felt his left palm grow heavy, as if something had been placed in it.

He looked down and saw a black pistol.

"Assaulting an officer. Grabbing a gun."

Before he could process what happened, Lu Chao, his face cold and impassive, was already gripping another black pistol and pressing it to his forehead.

"According to Alliance law, I can execute you on the spot."

The dark, cold muzzle of the gun was chilling. Lin Zhou’s expression stiffened, and behind him, the look in Mei Ning’s and the others’ eyes shifted.

"With so many people watching, you think they’ll just take your word for it?"

Lin Zhou’s eyelid twitched as he spoke hastily.

Lu Chao met his gaze, his eyes ice-cold. "That’s right. It is because I say it is."
