Chapter 90: Chapter 80: Painter Long Yi
This world has seven long-established empires, each harboring conflicts with the others. Among these disputes, the deepest animosity lies between the White Dragon Empire and the Black Dragon Empire.
In this period of surface-level peace, friction between the nations at their borders is constant, yet there have been no significant conflicts. The only exceptions are the Black Dragon Empire and the White Dragon Empire, which often engage in small-scale battles.
The Black Wormhole is a magic spell developed by the Black Dragon Empire, using the special power the Black Dragon as its medium. This magic spell is maintained by a vast number of mages constantly casting it to form a wormhole that connects different spaces within the same plane. The size, distance, and number of mages maintaining this magic spell are directly related to the wormhole. Creating a scroll for this requires an astoundingly large amount of mana.
Regardless of whether or not this person is sent by the Black Dragon Empire, the power behind them is undoubtedly significant. The item they are seeking must be incredibly important; otherwise, they definitely wouldn’t carry a Black Wormhole scroll with them, let alone use it immediately upon contact. This person must have obtained something already and could not afford any loss.
The scroll caused the tables and cabinets in the office to topple all over. Fortunately, the magic instructor is not someone who has an attachment to material possessions, and so apart from the tables and cabinets, there isn’t much else here.
Long Yi tossed the leg aside and tapped his bracelet. The bracelet immediately emitted a ray of light, pointing to a certain cabinet on the floor. A seal was also on the cabinet. Of all the seals in the office, this was the only one the intruder hadn’t had time to break.
The bracelet’s glow flickered, the seal automatically lifted, revealing a thick stack of files inside the cabinet, consistent with the task’s description. Ai Lin picked up the files, took a quick look, and said in surprise.
"The magic instructors are researching the theories I’ve mentioned! Look, they’ve made so much progress."
Long Yi glanced over but didn’t understand; the symbols and formulas within were complex enough to make one’s hair stand on end.
"We should pack up quickly, the thief may be planning to come for this." Long Yi scanned the surroundings to ensure no one else was hiding.
Ai Lin nodded and placed the files into her space.
At the same time, a team of security guards rushed in.
"What happened here? Why did you break the classroom office seal?"
A guard yelled.
Both of them immediately explained they were on a mission, and the seal was broken by another party.
After inspecting the bracelet, the guard immediately apologized, "I’m sorry, but as witnesses, we need you to describe the culprit in detail."
Long Yi scratched his head, finding it hard to describe the person. He glanced at the floor, spotted a pen and paper, and minutes later, an image of the black-clothed person emerged on paper.
"It’s pretty much like this, but he had his face covered, so we couldn’t see many details; his eyes were also blocked by a spell, completely unseeable. But I kept one of his legs."
Long Yi handed the drawing to the guard and pointed to the corner.
"Great sketching skills!"
Ai Lin gave an astonished thumb’s up.
"I had practice!"
Long Yi laughed in response.
Truthfully, Long Yi always believed that if he hadn’t become a warrior, he could have made a name for himself in the art field. His unique talent for drawing stood out from other kids since he was young. When he grew up, his mechanical part sketches and design plans had even earned admiration from professional designers. It’s rare for a designer to combine mechanical design and aesthetics, but Long Yi could.
After coming to this world, not only did Long Yi’s memory and hand control drastically improve, but his drawing skills also progressed exponentially with his increased fighting abilities.
The guards left with the drawing, while Ai Lin pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Long Yi.
"Draw one for me, Brother Long."
With nothing else to do, Long Yi moved a chair for Ai Lin to sit and pose, and he started sketching on the table.
After some time, there was a commotion outside. The principal, vice-principal, magic instructors, and the Dragon Language Instructor, Yavenny who had just left, all showed up. More people followed behind them, presumably drawn by the spy incident.
"Long Yi, Ai Lin, why are you two still here?"
The magic instructor asked curiously.
"Preserving the crime scene." Long Yi answered righteously, handed the drawing to Ai Lin from the table.
The magic instructor glanced at the drawing depicting Ai Lin. The flowing simple lines and the shadow parts with no overlapped lines. Every stroke was straightforward and sharp, resembling Long Yi’s personality. This kind of technique portrayed Ai Lin’s gentle beauty while subtly hinting at her courage.
The magic instructor clearly had something to say but decided it wasn’t the right time. One after another, everyone entered the office. When Yavenny passed by Long Yi, her eyes curved into a crescent smile, sending chills down Long Yi’s spine.
