Chapter 890: Chapter 673: Weakness?
"Hahahaha! Miss Ai Lin and Mr. Long Yi are indeed mighty! The poor wretches from the Sanctuary Empire left with eyes full of terror. It looks like they were utterly scared by you two!"
The Emperor of The Divine Auffa Empire, Saint Jialin, walked over with a big laugh. The great war had been won, and the retreat had been by none other than his enemies. Naturally, as the Emperor, he was glowing with pride and definitely wanted to come over to express his congratulations.
"It’s not that we are strong, but that they are too weak," Ai Lin said, shaking her little head.
"Haha, yes, yes, they are just too weak!" Saint Jialin immediately agreed with Ai Lin’s sentiment.
"That’s not quite right, actually. The opposition isn’t that bad; it’s mainly because I am too strong," Long Yi suddenly said.
"No, no, no, it’s still that they are too weak. If it were me, I could have ended the battle in five minutes," Ai Lin retorted with a pout.
"Actually, I could end the battle in four minutes. I was just playing with them, wasn’t I?" Long Yi quickly claimed.
"When I said five minutes, I was including my preparation time. If it were a genuine fight, I’d only need three minutes," Ai Lin argued, staring into Long Yi’s eyes.
"My four minutes also include the time I spent taunting them with words. In truth, I could annihilate them all in two minutes," Long Yi countered, staring back undaunted.
"Ah, my three minutes include the time I spent intimidating them with my gaze. In actuality, I could defeat them in one minute!"
"I only need fifty seconds!"
"Forty seconds!"
"Twenty seconds!"
"I only need one second! That’s called an instant kill!"
"I could scare them to death just by standing here! That’s called victory without a fight!"
Ai Lin and Long Yi actually started arguing in such a manner, and Saint Jialin, along with his three Crown Princes, were completely baffled.
How could this conversation seem as childish and senseless as an argument between kids? Moreover, just moments ago, the relationship between these two seemed perfectly harmonious, and within a few short seconds, they started fighting?
"Both of you, please calm down! Both of you are incredibly powerful, so there’s no need for such a dispute over this matter, don’t ruin the good atmosphere," the Crown Prince of St. Antonio quickly intervened to mediate.
"Both very strong? Then tell me, which of us is stronger?" Ai Lin directly confronted St. Antonio.
Suddenly, St. Antonio really wanted to give himself a hard slap in the face. Wasn’t this just blabbering nonsense? They were having their argument; what help could he possibly offer at their level of quarrel? He had eagerly stepped in, only to be blocked by a single phrase, and now, what was he supposed to say? Choosing either side would inevitably offend the other. With no way out, St. Antonio could only send a pleading glance towards his brothers. But whether it was Crown Prince Saint Julio or Crown Prince Saint Cassio, their eyes showed only sympathy and a hint of schadenfreude, with not the slightest hint of help.
Seeing that Ai Lin and Long Yi were both bearing down on him with menacing looks, St. Antonio could only seek help from his father and the great Mage August.
In the end, it was August who stepped forward.
"Both of you are at the very top level of power. At your level of strength, it’s not for them to judge. If we really need to determine a winner, I think the battlefield could provide a good opportunity in the future. We could see who manages to eliminate more enemies. This way, the victor can be decided without damaging the harmony. Wouldn’t that be better?"
Hearing August’s words, both Ai Lin and Long Yi’s expressions softened a bit.
"Since I lost to you in the past, I, Long Yi, am not a person to go back on his word. I will naturally adhere to my promise. But that was just rock-paper-scissors; don’t expect me to acknowledge that your strength exceeds mine. That’s absolutely unacceptable!" Long Yi said.
"Winning is winning, losing is losing. It’s all about strength. Whether you accept it or not doesn’t matter to me," Ai Lin said proudly.
Then, both parties stopped talking, at least achieving a superficial peace.
However, Emperor Saint Jialin’s brows furrowed slightly.
The thing he’d been worried about had finally happened.
When Long Yi joined Ai Lin’s side, what he truly feared was not Ai Lin being swept away by Long Yi’s pursuit, but whether two equally powerful individuals would be able to get along. And now it seemed that this would be quite difficult.
Long Yi was strong, and so was Ai Lin. Two such powerful and headstrong people, just like their past deeds had shown them to be, naturally struggled to coexist peacefully. However, Long Yi was willingly staying here largely because of his admiration for Ai Lin’s beauty, not just because of a lost game of rock-paper-scissors. But clearly, Long Yi cared more about his own strength rather than Ai Lin’s beauty. In his eyes, his strength was beyond question, and even Ai Lin had no right to doubt it. And Ai Lin was equally confident in her own strength; even someone she regarded as Long Yi should not have the slightest thought of surpassing her.
This made the problem complicated.
It was challenging to persuade two individuals who had never experienced any setbacks and had never lost before.
The Emperor was at a loss, and so was August.
But a solution must be found, otherwise, they would definitely become a ticking time bomb, which would be very dangerous.
