Chapter 755: Chapter 596: I’m Not a Local
"What!"
St. Antonio’s Crown Prince glanced around to realize that the monsters had mysteriously disappeared.
"How could this be? Have these lowly creatures recognized me, the third Crown Prince of the Grand Auffa Empire and decided to retreat at the mere mention of my name?"
The Crown Prince started to inflate his ego.
"No, your highness. This young lady here has banished the monsters for us!"
The elder stressed the words ’driven away for us’ to make St. Antonio’s Crown Prince realize that this girl was not ordinary.
"Oh? So, did my royal father send you secretly?"
St. Antonio’s Crown Prince casually posited, leaning towards Ai Lin.
"Obviously not," Ai Lin said, smiling.
"Do you have a master you serve?" The Crown Prince inquired.
The elder cringed at his impoliteness. For a mage of such power to be serving someone else was simply improper.
"Master?" An image flashed through Ai Lin’s mind – and if it’s about the pact, then Long Yi could technically be considered her master.
"Yes, a master!" St. Antonio’s Crown Prince attempted to stand taller, but Ai Lin, already taller than him and wearing high heels, easily dwarfed him.
"I do," Ai Lin said, smiling. Though she found his language disrespectful, the sweet thoughts of Long Yi were enough to make her absolve this foolish prince.
She really has a master?
The elder was perplexed. If such a powerful mage was serving someone, how formidable must that person be!
"That’s a real pity. Nevertheless, if you’re willing to serve me, I promise to give you double of what he does. So, what do you think?" St. Antonio’s Crown Prince blurted out boldly.
"Your highness, such a request is disrespectful!"
The elder couldn’t bear to watch. Demeanor unbecoming of an empire’s Crown Prince, especially when she had just saved his life, was inappropriate. Clearly, the Crown Prince had failed to realize this.
However, the Crown Prince seemed to hold some reverence for the elder, only muttering under his breath and refraining from further talk.
But his eyes were still locked onto Ai Lin.
"I’m afraid that’s not possible," Ai Lin said, laughing, "That man has given me everything."
"Please don’t take it to heart, Miss Ai Lin, the Crown Prince was just joking," said the elder.
"No worries! I find the prince quite amusing," Ai Lin shook her head.
Indeed, he was looking foolish and not very smart. Whether he was truly so or was pretending to be, either way, it was quite entertaining.
"Let’s go then," the elder suggested.
"Alright, lead the way."
Ai Lin chuckled, standing next to the elder. But then, she distinctly felt a peculiar vibration emanating from the gemstone adorning the armor on the ground.
"Wait a moment!"
Ai Lin raised her hand to stop the elder, who had been about to cast a spell, and slowly walked towards the Cosmic Stone fragment.
"That’s my fragment..." The Crown Prince attempted to rush over but was hindered by the elder.
"Your Highness, it’s not yours yet!" The elder sternly reminded.
It was apparent that this girl who had saved them did not know about the Cosmic Stone fragment yet. And if a conflict arose when she sensed the fragment’s power, who knew if this powerful individual’s temper was as pleasant as she looked?
Ai Lin knelt and placed her hand on the armguard, causing an array of runes to activate. Sensing a potent magic within the armor on the ground, she knew it was the Cosmic Stone fragment powering the magic which held the armor firmly in place. Initially uninterested in the Cosmic Stone fragment, Ai Lin couldn’t ignore the noticeable vibrations it emitted, and decided to investigate.
Various runes and arrays started to combine, corresponding to the magic within the armor. The armor set slightly shook, and dazzling eyes appeared inside the empty helmet!
Unbelievably, the once still armor stood up on its own. The eyes in the helmet stared at Ai Lin for a while before extending its arms. The Cosmic Stone fragment fell off the armguard, landing on Ai Lin’s palms and embedding itself in the mithril. A series of tiny arrays immediately surrounded the cosmic stone fragment.
Afterward, everything returned to silence, the armor disintegrated into a pile of dust right before their eyes!
Was that it?
Ai Lin looked at the stone on her hand; it felt similar to the Crystal Core armguard from before, yet she had no clue how to use it.
"My..."
The Crown Prince was about to intervene, but the elder firmly patted his shoulder.
"Now, it belongs to her!"
Some things can’t be mistaken. The elder’s valuable experience drawn from many years of life guided him.
"What exactly is this?"
Alli flailed her hand around and quizzically questioned the elder.
