Chapter 566: Chapter 449: Crazy Demons Overlord? Giant?
The Crazy Demons’ Elite Guard was walking in front, with Long Yi, Belle, and Little Zi following right behind. On their way, they encountered numerous Crazy Demons, all curled up, maintaining power for the light shield, and seeming totally off guard. If they used the Light Cannon now, they would undoubtedly kill large areas of the Crazy Demons. But that would be like signalling the so-called Overlord that they had arrived.
That would cost more than it’s worth.
Continuing on, the Crazy Demons’ Guard led Long Yi and his group towards the tallest building in the Imperial City.
This was named the Astronomy Tower; though it was a tower, it was massive in scale. Thousands of Demon Tribe scientists once worked here, trying to unravel the mysteries of the universe. This was also the place where Crystal Poison spread for the first time.
Entering the Astronomy Tower, everyone climbed upward. Long Yi saw some machinery that seemed to power automatic elevators, but assumed they were no longer functioning.
Just as he thought that, two Crazy Demons approached the still grand elevator door, which surprisingly opened on its own.
Long Yi glanced at Belle, who seemed just as stunned as he was. She had never seen it before either.
They stepped inside, and the elevator started to slowly ascend. Long Yi didn’t understand the numbers floating past the door. As the elevator rose, his heartbeat increased, though he didn’t know why.
Eventually, the elevator stopped at the top floor.
When the elevator doors opened, Long Yi tried to step out, but he found himself stepping back two steps, all the way to the back of the elevator!
"This joke has gone way too far."
The top floor of the Astronomy Tower was completely open. Under the blue sunlight, a large Crazy Demon was sitting quietly in a huge metal chair.
The powerful force of a Giant was pouring out from this Crazy Demon!
"What’s wrong, Brother Long!" Belle asked hurriedly. She could feel the huge pressure from the Crazy Demon in front of her, but she didn’t understand why.
"Believe it or not, the Crazy Demon in front of you is a Giant!"
Though he didn’t have any proof, Long Yi believed his intuition. The large Crazy Demon in front of him was, indeed, a Giant.
So, he was the Overlord!
Sensing someone’s presence, the Overlord’s eyes began to glow.
"A Giant?"
The Overlord’s gaze focused on Long Yi.
"You’re a Pioneer? So, this many years have already passed?" The Overlord spoke with a sense of lament.
"You’re a Giant too, aren’t you?" Long Yi asked, caught between familiarity and fear facing this hybrid of the Giant and Crazy Demon.
The Overlord moved, a crystal powder shattered from his joints. Then he stood up, looking down on Long Yi with an elevated stance.
"Pioneer, just look at me. Do I look like a Giant to you?"
There was a surprising melancholy in the Overlord’s words.
Long Yi was speechless; he didn’t know what to say. Should he tell him to leave? Just one wave of his powerful Giant’s force, and Long Yi and Belle would instantly turn into atoms.
Just when Long Yi didn’t know what to say, the Overlord started speaking.
"You’ve come to turn off the light shield, haven’t you?"
Long Yi gave an awkward smile and said, "Yes, I am helping the Crystal Demon princess Belle regain their final territory."
The Overlord shook his head and said, "Leave this place, Pioneer, and Princess of the Crystal Demon. I understand your longing for your homeland, but please don’t return. This land is no longer yours. Even I am soon unable to suppress this metal monster."
Metal Monster?
"Please tell me what is really going on!" Long Yi urged. He couldn’t stand by in the face of danger, that simply wasn’t in his nature.
"Sigh, since you’re a Pioneer, I’ll tell you."
It turns out that the so-called Crystal Poison was not a natural occurrence but a man-made one. Different planes give birth to different gods, and different gods naturally create different lives. In a certain dimension or plane, a god created a kind of evil life form that killed its creator as soon as it was born. Then, they started an unstoppable expansion, their voracious hunger for energy drove them to seek more sources of energy, and ultimately, they created Crystal Poison.
This is a powerful virus that can self-replicate. Once one person is infected, the whole planet will soon become a world of crystals. To ordinary people, the Crystal Core is the most valuable thing. But to those wicked lives, these crystals are the perfect source of energy.
The evil lifeforms wander through different planes, spreading Crystal Poison continuously, and they will harvest it soon after. The Crazy Demon’s planet is such a planet.
After the entire planet has turned into a world of crystals, the evil lifeforms sent a Scout, which met the Overlord who was then still a Giant. After a fight, the Overlord was infected by the Scout’s sprayed Crystal Poison. The Overlord used all of his strength to seal the Scout in the base of the Astronomy Tower. The Scout’s inability to return brought peace to the Crazy Demon’s plane.
Countless years have passed since then, and the Scout has been growing stronger by continuously absorbing crystals’ energy from the air and even soil. The Overlord, who has now become a Giant, is finding it increasingly difficult to keep the Scout contained.
