Chapter 538: Chapter 424 I’m Here to Help!_2
The situation is starkly different from that of the Black Dragon Empire, where the dragon knights are referred to as monsters.
But such is life: some rejoice, and some grieve.
In the underground laboratory of the Black Dragon Empire, the corpse of the Black Dragon lay sprawled on the ground, a massive wound from an explosion on its back.
"One of our infiltrators, Jia’erba, planned to receive the injection and immediately return to our territory, then extract the drug. However, as he crossed the border, he suddenly exploded into a fireball. The explosive force was so great that even his Mount Dragon was blown to death," Tilian said to Yake.
"Is this Long Yi’s method of preventing the dragon knights from defecting?" Yake asked, frowning at the huge wound on the Black Dragon’s back.
"I believe it is," Tilian said, pointing to Wendell, kneeling and shivering in the distance. "This is Wendell. He returned with Jia’erba and witnessed everything. In fact, before they crossed the border, there were no pursuers behind them. According to my calculations, Long Yi’s Shadow Dragon, with its extreme speed, could have caught up to them, but Long Yi didn’t. This suggests that Long Yi had everything under control."
Tilian said.
"Wendell?" Yake looked at Wendell, who was kneeling on the ground.
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
At this point, Wendell was so frightened that he could barely speak. He had heard that his emperor, Yake, had become a monster, but the sight of that hideous face was truly terrifying. Especially when Yake looked at him, Wendell felt his heart was about to stop under that immense pressure.
"Is everything the chief scientist Tilian said true?" Yake asked.
"Yes! Everything Mr. Tilian, the chief scientist, said is true! I saw it all with my own eyes!" Wendell said.
Yake nodded, and then looked at the Light Wind Dragon on Wendell’s shoulder.
"Did your dragon also receive the White Dragon Transformation Elixir?" Yake suddenly asked.
"Yes, Your Majesty, all the dragons of the White Dragon Empire have received the elixir, including the Earth Dragons," Wendell hastily said.
Yake nodded, gave Tilian a look, and then turned and left.
Confused, Wendell watched with peripheral vision as Yake left. Not until the door was closed did Wendell really breathe a sigh of relief.
"Chief Scientist Tilian, sir, is there anything else His Majesty needs me to do here?" Wendell, looking at Tilian approaching him, asked puzzledly.
"No, His Majesty no longer requires anything from you," Tilian said. He stepped closer to Wendell, a strange gleam in his eyes. "But, there are a few small matters I require your help with. I’d appreciate it if you could assist."
Wendell was momentarily taken aback. His pupils dilating, he stammered, "Yes, Mr. Tilian. Please command me."
"Alright, Mr. Wendell. Now, let’s examine your White Dragon and see exactly how it came to be!"
If the land was disquieted, so too was the sea.
Even before the outbreak in the White Dragon Empire, two major empires in the sea had begun to wage war, a conflict that is still ongoing.
The emperors leading the two warring empires were none other than the Sea Emperor Boris and the Sea Emperor Clamdi.
Ever since his duel with Long Yi, Clamdi lost the support of the Tiger Whale warriors. This filled him with hatred for Long Yi and also for Boris, the Sea Emperor.
This hatred developed to a certain degree, naturally leading to war.
Compared to the cautious testing and arms race on the mainland, the wars under the sea were impulsive, with both sides throwing considerable forces into the conflict, like a meat grinder. The fighting continued until one side surrendered, with the undersea wars escalating in both cruelty and brutality far beyond those on land.
This was information that Long Yi had obtained from Wesley, which in turn had come from his family. Now, all sea voyages by the White Dragon Empire were prohibited due to the war reaching a fever pitch. Occasionally, the bodies of sea clan members would wash ashore, giving the fishermen some respite.
Hearing this news, Long Yi naturally couldn’t ignore it as this issue was more or less related to him.
So, Long Yi decisively went to the embassy at the seaside. The ambassador of the Penguin Clan from the Sea Clan was almost unsteady with excitement upon hearing that Long Yi was actually willing to help. The divide between the Sea Clan and their enemies on the land made them look down on land-dwellers most of the time. Still, Long Yi’s sense of righteousness won the ambassador’s affection. Therefore, the submarine set out once more, heading straight for the Undersea Imperial Palace.
When Boris saw Long Yi, the Sea Emperor looked utterly baffed.
"What are you doing here?"
"Helping you." Long Yi replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"But I didn’t ask for your help." Boris’s face showed his confusion.
"Since you’ve helped me so many times, it’s only right that I help you in return, don’t you think?" Long Yi responded with a smile.
Boris nodded. In truth, Boris really needed help. The pressure from this war was immense. Even though Clamdi’s military forces had always been superior to Boris’s, this war saw Clamdi’s troops seemingly inexhaustible, not displaying the power of a single country. Boris suspected that there might be other Sea Emperors secretly supporting Clamdi.
Of course, even if his guess was correct, it meant nothing. Public opinion didn’t have much sway under the sea, where the only rule was survival of the fittest. Thus, Boris had no choice but to face the situation head-on.
However, Boris’s national power came into play here. A powerful nation could hire more Sea Dragons, and as the name "dragon" suggested, their combat power was not something a regular Sea Clan member could match.
But the number of Sea Dragons was limited, once lost, they were gone for good, while standard Sea Clan soldiers seemed to be endless.
"By the way, where’s Mina?" Whenever he showed up here in the past, Mina, the young princess, was always the first to rush over. But now he had been here for a while and Mina was still nowhere to be seen, which puzzled Long Yi.
"She joined the battle." Boris mentioned Mina with a look of severe headache on his face.
"What? She’s still a child! You let her go into battle!" Long Yi exclaimed, his voice coming out in a series of bubbles, which made him sound somewhat ridiculous.
"She insisted! What could I do! Moreover, as the Sea Clan’s princess, isn’t it her duty to fight on the front line?" Boris argued.
"You’re her father, can’t you stop her?" Long Yi retorted, curling his lips.
"If I could stop her, she wouldn’t have run off to the mainland to find you in the first place!" Boris glared at Long Yi fiercely.
"This little girl, why is she so aggressive?" Long Yi muttered.
"Exactly! Who knows who she learned it from!" Boris snorted coldly. Long Yi felt a chill down his neck, then he laughed, "She should be okay, right? Should I go and back her up?"
"She’s fine! After all, she is a Sea Dragon Knight. And Ruosha is with her too, so I’m relatively at ease."
"Oh, since there’s Ruoshan, it should be okay then. After all, he’s the man who once defeated me. I’ll go and support other battlefields." Long Yi chuckled slyly, deftly trying to avoid the location of Ruoshan.
"It’s Ruosha! She’s a girl! Don’t play dumb! Go and help now!" Boris roared. (To be continued. If you like this novel, please support the author by voting or donating at qidian.com. Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com.)
