Chapter 444: Chapter 340: Tyl’s Plan
Some rejoiced over the existence of the contract.
Others suffered because of it.
No, not human, but a dragon.
Moreover, a Ghost Dragon.
In the Burial Ground, two things never ceased to exist.
First, the endless cold.
Second, the mists that forever eddy around you.
At this moment, Tyl has completely transformed into a Ghost Dragon. After consuming several Ghost Dragons, it has become much stronger and established its footing in the Burial Ground.
However, recent events cast a lingering shadow over its heart.
The contract between it and Long Yi had disappeared!
At first, it instinctively thought that something had befallen Long Yi. For in its contracted sense, Long Yi had completely vanished. But shortly afterwards, Long Yi reappeared. Yet, a part of the contract had collapsed, as though some circumstances disqualified it from surviving.
Now, their contract teeters on the brink of dissolution.
Tyl refuses to believe that Long Yi is playing tricks. Long Yi has no reason to do so, and he is not that sort of person.
It concluded that Long Yi must have done something reckless that led to the contract’s termination.
This contract does not matter much to Tyl at present, but when it completes all its plans in the Burial Ground and genuinely needs the contract, what then?
Tyl had never imagined that such a seemingly solid contract would vanish so easily!
Whilst Tyl fretted, another Ghost Dragon appeared.
"Hey, little guy, I heard that the Ghost Dragon Senka, who has taken up residence on the east side, plans to form an alliance with you?"
The newcomer was a massive Ghost Dragon. Its enormous size and abundant Dragon Power flowed within its pure energy body. It’s clear it had consumed enough Ghost Dragons to bolster its strength. This was Raz, one of the four big bosses of the Dragon Clan’s Burial Ground, who took up residence on the west side.
The Burial Ground was vast, and its size adjusted automatically with the number of dragons cast into it. Here, four of the strongest Ghost Dragons resided in four cardinal directions, constantly warring and devouring each other. Nevertheless, after numerous years of battle, a delicate balance had formed– no one could seize another’s territory.
Until Tyl’s arrival.
Tyl was powerful. It showed no confusion customary of newcomers when it first arrived here. It instantly abandoned its body the moment it set foot here and condensed its soul and Dragon Power into a Ghost Dragon, thus avoiding weakness due to soul tearing caused by surrounding forces. Shortly after, it promptly consumed two overambitious small Ghost Dragons, gaining initial power. Then, it withstood continuous attacks, consumed more Ghost Dragons, and further increased its strength. Until now, through continuous fights and consumption, it has become a Ghost Dragon with a certain degree of power.
For such a suddenly emergent powerful Ghost Dragon, being simply swallowed didn’t appeal to the big bosses. They desired to recruit it as a powerful aid, which would prove much more useful than a quick meal.
Tyl now resided in the central area of the Burial Ground, the entrance into it, and an area abandoned by the four corners of the Burial Ground.
The Dragon Clan was extensive. Pitiful dragons guilty of crimes and thrown in here were commonplace; these dragons ended up as Tyl’s meal. Normally, such a place would be a battleground for any army. However, because it was indeed a battleground, no dragon continued to fight over it. Some Ghost Dragons had tried to take control of it, but whenever a Ghost Dragon from any direction declared control, dragons from the other three directions ganged up on it. Over time, this place gravitated towards being a dragon-less zone. Tyl, however, took advantage of this situation and claimed it, patiently waiting for the next step in its plan.
And a visit from a Ghost Dragon boss was part of that strategy.
Maybe less than an hour had passed since Senka visited when Raz appeared. Senka and Raz were arch-enemies; if Senka visited, Raz would inevitably follow.
Everything was going as expected.
"Indeed, Master Raz, Master Senka only just left," Tyl politely affirmed.
"Hahaha, the little guy understands etiquette," Raz slowly approached Tyl, eyeing the body beneath the Ghost Dragon Tyl that had begun to shrivel.
"What, you intend to keep that wrecked body of yours?" Raz drew closer, lifting Tyl’s wing with his claws, inspecting the abundant scars littering it. Clearly, Tyl had seen many battles.
"Yes. Even if I have come to this Burial Ground, this is still my own body," Tyl responded.
"What if I told you, I require you to destroy your body?" Raz’s head came alarmingly close to Tyl’s.
"I’m afraid that won’t work, Lord Raz; you’ll force me to side with Lord Senka," Tyl said.
"Why not force you into my gaping mouth?" Raz opened his mouth wide, Dragon Power coursing through it, even sucking some of the Dragon Power that made up Tyl’s body.
"Because, in doing so, you lose an opportunity," Tyl replied nonchalantly.
"Opportunity? What opportunity? A chance to make me laugh?" The suction from Raz’s mouth grew stronger.
"A chance at revenge," Tyl said, "Or perhaps, Lord Raz, have you grown so used to this icy Burial Ground that you plan to trap your immortal life in this insignificant, unreal world forever?"
Raz stood stunned, his massive jaws quickly shutting.
"Revenge ..." A deep voice echoed as Raz began trembling and howling. "Merely for such an absurd reason, I was thrown into this icy Burial Ground! No matter how I begged, they showed no mercy, even my friends rejoiced in my suffering! Once I arrived in this world, I had to fight against the Exotic Beasts left behind by the giants, my body was torn apart, devoured, my soul ripped into shreds, becoming the food for those creatures!"
"What kept me going? Yes...it was revenge! No matter how many years have passed! Revenge remains forever etched in my soul, unerasable!"
Raz roared crazily, the horrifying sound echoed in the mist of the Burial Ground.
Then, Raz quieted down, addressing Tyl with an exceptionally low and dangerous voice.
"Tell me, lad, when you bring up these two words again, how do you intend to satisfy my appetite?"
The threat from the head of the Ghost Dragon faction did not intimidate Tyl. He was undeterred. He had practiced this many, many times for today.
He lifted his head, looking up at the colossal dragon towering over him, he whispered, "I carefully laid out all my plans right after I found out my fate. I certainly did not plan on waiting here for my death. With my friend’s help, I put together an unassailable plan. Then, I stored my secret within this broken body to ensure no one can discover it. Now, I must wait until I am strong enough to retrieve my secret from within this body. When that day comes, I will break out of this impregnable prison, releasing all the dragons trapped here, let the Ghost Dragon armies tear our enemies apart, accomplishing everyone’s revenge!"
Raz listened intently, then he laughed.
"Heh... haha... hahaha! Lad, I have to admit, for a brief moment I was tempted. Because you’ve reawakened my long-dormant desire for vengeance but obviously, you’ve placed the wrong bet. Although revenge is important to me, it won’t drive me mad. As Dragons, we may not be as clever as humans, but we’re not stupid. If you believe I would blindly trust you at your word, then you’re deeply mistaken. However, I do find you amusing, so I will grant you another chance. You better seize this opportunity wisely because if you fail to convince me this time..."
"I still retain the contract of the Dragon Knight." Tyl interjected before Raz finished his threat.
"What!" Raz was visibly taken aback.
Every Dragon thrown into this place would undoubtedly no longer have a Dragon Knight. Regardless of what taboo it violates, as long as it’s still serving in the human world, the Dragon Clan won’t investigate its responsibilities but will wait until it returns to the clan. Meaning, under no circumstances would the dragons in the Burial Ground still possess a contract.
"I have a contract," Tyl declared.
He openly displayed the contract to Raz.
At that moment, Tyl was incredibly anxious, because the contract between him and Long Yi was at the verge of becoming void. He wasn’t sure if Raz would spot any defects in the contract. But Tyl had no choice but to present it regardless. Raz was a crucial part of his plan, and he needed to win Raz’s support at all costs.
Apparently, Raz didn’t notice anything unusual.
"What else?" Raz inquired.
It was clear that Raz was intrigued. Perhaps no dragon on the outside cared for the contract, but once inside this place, the contract became the only link to the outside world. Having a contract, at the very least, meant a tiny glimmer of sunlight shone into this sealed world.
"Most of my secrets are hidden within my body, which is why I’ve been protecting it fervently. Once I’m strong enough, I can utilize the secrets concealed within my body to harness the power needed to break free from here," Tyl explained.
"What exactly is your secret?" By now, all Raz wanted to know was what that so-called secret was, but that damn Tyl kept him in suspense.
"I can’t tell you, but what I can reveal is that the one who helped me put together this plan is a human, one of the most intelligent of his kind, and among the people who helped me implement this plan, there was one with the bloodline of giants."
