Chapter 367: Chapter 266: Crazy News
The Silver Dragon being propelled by the wild wind quickly arrived at the Elf Kingdom, and it landed on a high tower platform adjacent to the Elven Royal Palace.
The Elven Empress had been waiting there already.
"Sir Long Yi! You are finally here! I have some great news to tell you!" The Elven Empress’s smile was as beautiful as flowers.
"What good news!" Seeing the Empress’s jubilant expression, Long Yi’s heart pounded excitedly.
Could it be!
"The Silver Dragon has responded! She is aware of you, Sir Long Yi! She has a message for you, but she hopes that you can answer her questions first." said the Elven Empress.
"Questions? Please tell me!" Long Yi wanted to know, what on earth does this so-called Silver Dragon want to ask?
"Here!"
The Elven Empress handed Long Yi a piece of paper with a series of neatly printed questions.
After a quick glance at these questions, Long Yi felt his hair stand on end.
Because, those questions were not just any random queries, they were in fact the midterm examination questions for Air Force pilots!
Long Yi grabbed them quickly, and wrote down the answers, then handed them to the Elven Empress. She took out another piece of paper and compared the answers. Afterwards, her smile grew even brighter.
"Congratulations, Sir Long Yi, all your answers are correct. The Silver Dragon asked me to convey that she and the World Tree are presently recalibrating the phase space and will return to the material world soon. She asked you not to repair the turbofan engine yourself as she’ll take care of it."
Having said this, the Empress looked at Long Yi expectantly, her joy evident.
But Long Yi looked puzzled.
"That’s it?"
"Yes, that’s the message the Silver Dragon wanted to convey."
"What about that great news?"
"The Silver Dragon and the World Tree are about to return to the physical realm, that is the truly great news!" The Elven Empress stated matter-of-factly.
Alright, this should indeed be good news, especially for the Elves. It indeed bore great significance, but somehow, Long Yi had the feeling that this news was not as shocking as it seemed.
What could be amiss?
Looking at Long Yi’s puzzled face, the Empress chuckled slightly, "Indeed, the Silver Dragon is full of wisdom; she foresaw your reaction. Therefore, she entrusted me with the task of giving you this."
Having said this, she handed Long Yi something. It was white, green and had a distinct pungent smell...
A leek?
What does a leek have to do with the Silver Dragon? And what does it have to do with the fighter jet? Do Elves like leeks?
What is going on?
Long Yi became even more confused.
"Well! I have conveyed the Silver Dragon’s message to you, Sir Long Yi, would you like to return now?" The Elven Empress clapped her hands, appearing delighted. Evidently, the return of the Silver Dragon and the World Tree filled her with joy.
"Return? No, not now! I still have questions!" Long Yi quickly intervened, fearing that he might be teleported away abruptly. He swung the leek in his hand and looked around anxiously, lest someone was about to teleport him somewhere.
"Please ask!" said the Elven Empress.
"Our White Dragon Empire is in dire need of crystal cores from the monsters. Do Elves have reserves of crystal cores?" Long Yi asked.
"Not at all, crystal cores are of no use to us." The Elven Empress replied.
"Then, do you know where I could find a significant amount of crystal cores?" Long Yi followed up.
"I do." The Elven Empress replied.
"Where?"
"Of course, it’s the monsters’ world, the Crazy Demons Plane. It is a world fully assimilated by Crystal Poison, whether animals or plants in that world, all possess crystal cores. It could be said that the land there is almost covered with crystal cores. Moreover, the grade of crystal cores in that world is incredibly high. The monsters classified as top-notch level nine by the human world are just insignificant in the Crazy Demons Plane." The Elven Empress replied.
This is insane.
Human beings have never ceased to explore various planes, but most of the time, these explorations have brought disaster. There are countless planes in the universe, which are not always friendly to humanity. The Crazy Demons Plane is one of the greatest threats to humanity. The term ’Crazy Demons’, serves as a title given to these monsters by humans.
Some plane scholars have concluded that there is a natural tunnel between the human world plane and the Crazy Demons Plane. This passage may open under certain specific probabilities. Once opened, monsters will invade this world from their own realm. Throughout history, these monsters have invaded this world at least once, causing significant trouble in the beginning since only Dragon Knights were able to deal with these physically robust creatures capable of wielding magic.
Latterly, as human understanding of these monsters grew, dealing with them became less challenging.
That said, it applies only to those monsters that invaded the human world.
The Empress just said that the strongest demons that had entered the human world were nothing more than petty thugs in the Crazy Demon Plane. This means that there could be higher-grade crystal cores from the Crazy Demon Plane, but it also means that the Crazy Demon Plane poses an enormous threat.
"Can we communicate with these creatures through negotiation? I mean, could I buy the crystal cores from them with money..." Long Yi, scratching his head, asked a question he himself didn’t believe.
"If someone offered to buy your head with money, would you sell it?" The Elf Queen countered.
"Alright, I understand." Long Yi nodded, then asked, "If I do decide to venture into the Crazy Demon Plane, what method could I use?"
"In the Gentle Wind Plain, there is a natural plane wound. If one inflicts sufficient damage on it within an instant, the wound would expand to form a passage. This passage will last about three days, after which the wound will close itself." The Elf Queen explained.
"So, in your opinion, if we were to send dragon knights on this mission, what are our chances of success?" Long Yi asked.
"If your goal were to conquer the plane, then you would have no chance of success. But if you’re only aiming to obtain crystal cores, considering your strength as the standard, it shouldn’t be too difficult. You should have at least a sixty percent chance of success."
Long Yi fell silent. The problem lay right here. In the entire White Dragon Empire, there were only a few individuals stronger than himself. If Elsa were still around, she would definitely be one of them. Now that Elsa had left, it seemed that only the Group Leader of the Guardian Dragon Knights in the Guardian Dragon Knight Tower could surpass him.
"What if we replaced all Dragon Knights with elves?" Long Yi suddenly asked.
"Then the odds would increase to about seventy percent." The Elf Queen chuckled, "Lord Long Yi, are you suggesting you need me to dispatch an elven army to assist you?"
"No... no, I was just asking." Long Yi responded with a wry smile.
Long Yi knew that the elves were incredibly powerful. Unlike humans, elves are born capable of utilizing magic and Fighting Aura, and their physical capabilities also far exceed those of humans. Even though many elves appear to be weak and fragile, their strength is astounding. The longer lifespan of the elves gives them ample time to master the martial arts. In their eyes, even the Dragon Clan is just an enemy that is slightly larger in size.
"If Lord Long Yi does require it, the Elf Kingdom can dispatch warriors to any battle, and by that, I mean any battle." The Elf Queen repeated. Long Yi looked at her small face and understood instantly that the Elf Queen was indirectly telling him that the elves stood on Long Yi’s side, whether it was in subduing the Crazy Demon Plane or in the war against the Black Dragon Empire.
"Thank you." Long Yi thanked her sincerely but he had not actually considered using the elves. The elves are powerful; however, their greatest issue is their scarce population. Although a small number of strong elves may gain the advantage in some local battles, they wouldn’t be much help in a large-scale war.
To achieve victory, external assistance can only add-in to what’s already there. The most important part still relies on oneself.
On his way back from the Elf Kingdom to the Dragon Knight Academy, Long Yi had been thinking about these issues. At first, Long Yi thought going to the Gentle Wind Plain and hoping for the best was a good idea, but then the Elf Queen suggested something even crazier.
The elves are known for their caution. If the Elf Queen said there was a sixty percent chance of success, then when this estimate was converted to human terms, it would probably drop to thirty percent. After all, the Elf Queen was using Long Yi as the benchmark, and his exaggerated abilities inherently made it impossible for him to serve as a standard reference.
But even if it was only thirty percent...
It was still damn tempting!
Finally arriving at the Dragon Knight Academy, he found the whole place in chaos. Today was the first day of the summer vacation, so most of the students would be returning home.
Wesley and his group were no exception.
Long Yi hadn’t been gone for very long, not even an hour in total. The students who had finished their breakfast packed up their already-prepared luggage, mounted their dragons, and left the Dragon Knight Academy.
Ai Lin and the others were waiting for Long Yi in the cafeteria. When they saw Long Yi suddenly appear alongside two elves, their faces lit up with joy.
"Brother Long, did you get any good news?" asked Ai Lin tentatively.
"No good news, but there is a mad piece of news." Long Yi said.
"What is it!"
Wesley immediately perked up his ears.
"Let’s not discuss it for now. Allow me some time to consider whether or not I should turn this news into reality." replied Long Yi.
"Ugh... stingy!" Wesley rubbed his ears in annoyance.
"Brother Long, what are your plans for the summer vacation?" both the Big Chef and the Mosquito asked.
"For the summer vacation..." Long Yi thought for a bit, "I plan to visit my hometown first, to pay my respects to the dead, and to help my friends in the town with some things while I have some time. Of course, at the same time, I’ll also contemplate the crazy news I’ve just learned today."
"Man! Boss, you can’t just tease us like that. The less you say, the more I want to know!" Wesley said, his eyes red.
"Rest assured, whether or not it comes true in the future, I’ll tell you. And don’t worry, if this news becomes a reality, I’ll help you claim the title of a martyr." Long Yi said.
"Oh, s**t! Boss, I was wrong! I have absolutely no interest in this thing! I also have absolutely no interest in becoming a martyr! You keep it for yourself!" Wesley retracted his neck and ran away, followed by the Big Chef and the Mosquito.
Only Ai Lin and Long Yi were left here.
"Brother Long, then I..."
"I’ll take you home first." Long Yi said.
"No! I want to visit your home! You’ve been to my house, but I’ve never been to yours! That’s not fair!" Ai Lin said, her small face blushing.
"Alright, shall we set off right now?"
"Okay!" (To be continued. If you like this work, please come to qidian.com to vote and recommend, your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users can read on m.qidian.com.)
