Chapter 353: Chapter 253 - Sudden Attack!【Fourth Update】

Long Yi glanced at Lin Qi, seeing only puzzlement in his solitary eye.

The group leaders of both sides saluted each other. Simultaneously, Lin Qi and Cain advanced towards each other.

"How are you back again you bastard," Lin Qi extended his hand.

"Haha, didn’t expect that, did you? That guy owed me a favor, then I gambled this face of mine on being ridiculed for half an hour to get it." Cain also extended his hand, and the two firmly shook hands.

"Clean your neck and await death," Lin Qi said.

"Don’t pretend to be tough. We’ve thoroughly researched your ace, Long Yi. This time, it’s your turn to wait for death!" Cain forcefully squeezed Lin Qi’s hand, who didn’t back down, squeezed back for a few seconds, and eventually, neither gained an upper hand. They both let go simultaneously, weird smiles hanging on their faces.

"Wesley, I get the feeling there’s something more between these two," Long Yi asked.

"Ah? I thought you might know, Brother Long! Vice-Captain Cain and Vice-Captain Lin Qi were both orphans, wandering between countries. They grew up together so if you talk about relationships – nobody’s closer than these two. However, these two have also been in competition since they were young. They became Dragon Knights in White Dragon Empire—you know, our White Dragon Emperors give talented children the opportunity to become Dragon Knights every year; Cain got a Red Dragon and Lin Qi got a White Dragon. So, Lin Qi stayed in White Dragon Empire, while Cain went to Red Dragon Empire. These two have always climbed from ordinary soldiers to vice-captains of their groups!"

"That’s quite an inspiring story. But isn’t the First Group all from noble families?" Long Yi said.

"The First Legion has more members from noble families, because compared to commoner Dragon Knights, the emperor has more faith in the families closely linked to the nation’s fate. But if a person’s contributions are enough to earn everyone’s trust, then it doesn’t matter if they are a nobleman or a commoner, right?" Wesley said.

"Valid point!" Long Yi laughed.

Ai Lin, looking at the conversation between Long Yi and Wesley, thought to herself: "Brother Long, you’re also a commoner, but don’t you also have lots of people who stand by you because they trust you?"

Finally, after some pleasantries, the team leaders of both sides led their teams to take off.

As the gigantic Demon Abyss Dragon ascended with a terrifying gust of wind, the audience made admiring remarks. The Demon Abyss Dragon, an extraordinary creature, had entered their view for the first time. Its massive size and fierce appearance were all indications of its formidable strength.

Dragons are practical creatures. Strength typically correlates with size— the bigger its size, the stronger it is— a rule almost universally applicable.

The Prime Minister’s wife, the graceful and elegant Fairy Dragon, remained fixated on Bajie’s distant figure until it was no longer visible. Only then did she reluctantly sit down next to the Prime Minister.

"Darling, who do you think will win?" the Prime Minister suddenly asked with a smile.

"Does this really need to be asked? You guys are sure to lose." The Fairy Dragon said listlessly.

"Hey hey, don’t forget we’re on the same side. What do you mean by ’you guys are sure to lose’? Which side are you on, anyway?" The Prime Minister said with a wry smile.

"Yeah, we’re sure to lose!" The Fairy Dragon gave the Prime Minister a look. "As for whose side I’m on, shouldn’t you already know that, my dear Prime Minister?"

"They say it’s a man-made village, but isn’t this taking environmental conservation a bit too far?"

Wesley questioned, looking at the straw huts that looked like they could fall at any gust of wind, and the makeshift houses appearing as mere piles of dirt- it was ridiculous to the point of torture.

"Be glad. It’ll all be burnt clean soon."

A Red Dragon Empire soldier, lounging in the shade underneath the straw hut, joked. There were 99 more soldiers like him, in charge of constructing this sham village.

"Guys, even though you’re from the Red Dragon Empire, now, you are playing our side’s stationed army. If you entrain such thoughts, we will complain that you’re cheating!"

Wesley stated.

"Then consider us the unruly soldiers in your army." The soldiers laughed.

"The unruly ones in our army get their heads chopped off. Let’s start with you." Long Yi, sitting nearby, unsheathed his crystal greatsword and slashed at a soldier. The soldier quickly rolled to dodge.

"Do you really want to kill me?!" The soldier screamed in distress.

"Are you kidding me? We’re allies! How could I possibly!" Long Yi said with a smile as he picked up his crystal greatsword. Then, he turned around and cried hastily, "Ai Lin! Wesley! Head Chef! Mosquito! Follow me!"

"What are you doing!" Lin Qi called.

"Just messing around, this is a war! Of course, we’re going for a surprise attack!" Long Yi said with a gleam in his eyes.

"Surprise attack? Bullshit! The battle hasn’t even begun!" Lin Qi roared.

"Well, it doesn’t matter. When Bajie’s shadow appears over their village, the battle will have begun!" Long Yi said.

Lin Qi paused, his years spent adhering to the White Dragon Empire’s defensive policy had blinded him to the benefits of a proactive strike.

"Commence the attack! Stay focused!" Lin Qi roared as per his habit.

"Roger!"

Before he knew it, these four flying dragons had ascended to the sky.

At the Red Dragon Empire village, Cain was currently assigning tasks to his team members. His main reason for shamelessly asking for the right to command was because he was the only one among the entire Red Dragon Empire who had had a direct interaction with Long Yi. Having personally experienced how tough their enemy Long Yi could be, in order to prevent the total defeat of the Red Dragon Empire in this exchange match, choosing Cain to command was the best decision.

Despite having gone through several battle tactics in the last few days, Cain wasn’t convinced with any. It was an understood fact that real battle tactics aren’t merely studied but practised on the battlefield.

Just as he was assigning tasks to the Dragon Knights’ teams, he noticed four flying dragons approaching in the distance.

Coming straight at us just like that?

Is this supposed to be a surprise attack?

Cain couldn’t help but laugh.

Could it be that this Long Yi is strong in individual battles but inexperienced in group fights?

"All units, take to the sky!"

Cain ordered.

"According to our previous formation, form groups of five, control one person each, the rest of you stay mobile on the perimeter! All ground forces, retreat, and take cover immediately!"

A series of commands were issued. The dragon troop ascended and formed a pouch formation, patiently waiting for the opponent to charge in.

On Long Yi’s side, Bajie began to accelerate. The huge Bajie was slow to pick up speed but once it started sprinting, its speed was not too shabby, especially the massive pressure brought about by its eighty meter body length caused the hearts of the Red Dragon Empire Knights who were there to intercept to beat faster.

"Wesley! Tactical report!" Long Yi roared.

"Got it! Looking at their formation, they are planning on using a zone defense tactic. Approximately five people will be tailing each of us. The remaining free-roaming personnel will likely be responsible for filling any gaps. However, it seems they may have some special formations that can assist each other."

"Where’s their weak spot!?"

"The weak spot is on the lower right side, where the mosquitoes are. Their defense is weakest there, and their main defensive focus is on you, Brother Long."

"Chef! How fast can your Hive Dragon launch beetles?"

"If it launches them at full power, it can reach three hundred meters per second! But it can only fire ten times."

"Ten times will be enough!"

"Ailin, Mosquitoes, get ready! We’re going to stage a surprise attack!"

"Okay!"

Long Yi’s team began their charge, while Cain’s team was ready to intercept. Cain had studied for a while and found that the Explosive Flame Array he used against Long Yi was still very effective. The critical point was to restrict Long Yi’s movements. It’s known that Long Yi, with the help of the Female Demon, Shadow Dragon, and Bajie, has an explosively strong 1v1 battle capability.

However, once a team battle begins, it’s a different story; Long Yi couldn’t just abandon his teammates and charge out alone, right?

Cain decided to start with Long Yi’s teammates, using them to limit Long Yi’s movement.

As Long Yi’s team got closer and closer, the tension in the air reached its peak!

Suddenly, the bloated body of the Hive Dragon beneath the Mosquito shivered, and ten beetle-like projectiles shot out and headed straight towards their formation!

"Defend!"

A loud shout. All the dragon knights immediately formed a protective aura. But those huge beetles exploded without even making contact, creating a thick black fog. Despite the thrashing of the dragons’ wings, the black smoke lingered.

At the same time, a dark figure suddenly charged into the smoke and in a blink of an eye, two cries of agony rang out.

"It’s the Fairy Dragon! Be careful! Ah!"

"Miss Ailin, I love you! Don’t hit my face! Ah!"

On the other side, the Hive Dragon had already approached. The Mosquito suddenly moved and charged forward, landing directly on one of the dragons and clawed his way onto its back using both hands and feet.

"Be careful, there’s another assassin! Damn! That hurts!"

Having taken care of one enemy, the Mosquito immediately leapt high in the air. Halfway up, nine avatars of the Nine Mosquito Dragons appeared. The Mosquito jumped on these avatars to reach the second dragon.

"Brother Long! Now!"

Wesley roared.

With a scream from Bajie, its wings flapped hard and then suddenly folded, with the whole dragon plunging straight down.

"Indiscriminate dragon breath attack! Everyone, defend against friendly dragon breath!"

At the command, the sky was filled with intense fire, instantly dissipating the black smoke that filled the sky.

"Big Mouth! Eat!"

The Chef roared. The giant-headed Giant Swallow Dragon immediately opened its huge mouth, swallowing large amounts of air and intense dragon breath into its other-dimensional belly.

At this moment, Bajie had already broken through the encirclement from below, and a rolling dragon breath was brewing in its mouth!

"Damn it! It’s trying to force its way through!"

Cain noticed that his small village was about to enter the range of Bajie’s dragon breath!(To be continued. If you like this work, please vote for it at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please go to m.qidian.com to read.)
