Chapter 295: Chapter 204: Invitation from the Dark City?
This Long Yi, he dared to do as he said? In front of so many people! In front of a group of tutors! He brutally shocked a student into a stupor!
"Any more questions?"
Long Yi looked around.
Who else had questions?
Who else dared to have any questions!
"Look, when I was ready to talk verbally, you ignored me. Now that I’ve acted, why the fuss?"
Long Yi left, feeling relaxed, sweeping away the feelings of oppression that had been lingering for some time.
Then, everyone here dispersed one after another, but not one dared to say a word.
In the afternoon of the same day, some families of the students approached the academy, demanding they give an explanation for this incident. The Dean threw at them every single detail of the outrageous actions these idiotic Imperial Guards had undertaken since their formation. On seeing what disgraceful actions their children had been committing in the academy, they felt greatly embarrassed. The Dean emphasized, on the last day, Long Yi sought to resolve the issue through combat. Not one dared to fight him directly and what’s more, they used incendiary bombs in the middle of the night, causing damage to a dormitory, though, for a Dragon Knight, the damage was just enough to curl some hair.
The Dean said, the Dragon Knight Academy is a place where knights are trained and soldiers are made. These people were neither knights in spirit nor were they soldiers.
What a disgrace.
The Dean’s stubbornness left the party seeking justice feeling pretty embarrassed. However, this matter can’t just be left like this. Moreover, not only did Long Yi use significant force, but his hanging people up a flagpole was a form of humiliation. The Dean essentially agreed with their view, but except for the final slap, which could be confirmed as inflicted by Long Yi, there were no definitive evidence to prove previous injuries were Long Yi’s doing.
The whole 5th grade Air Force Division vouched for Long Yi’s presence in the dorm that night.
But those twelve people insisted that it was Long Yi who personally captured and injured them.
With nothing but witnesses from both sides, there was no way to prosecute; more evidence was needed.
But during that night, the attacker cunningly avoided all night patrol soldiers! There was no one else who could confirm that the person was Long Yi!
How could this be possible!
Everyone was incredulous. In the academy, there were at least 300 people patrolling every night and three Dragon Knights on standby. How could such intensive patrolling miss a person?
"Ha ha ha! Brother Long, avoiding all the patrols, I take credit for that!" Wesley boasted proudly, seeking credit from Long Yi.
"Of course! Your contribution was the greatest this time!" Long Yi firmly patted Wesley’s shoulder and Wesley’s shoulder sank under the weight.
"And also me! I tagged each attacker with staining beetles." the head chef said proudly.
"While you guys were doing all this, I was on the lookout to make sure you weren’t discovered," Mosquito added.
"Good! All of you are my good brothers! Ha ha ha!"
Having vented his anger, Long Yi’s mood was significantly happier.
"Sorry, Brother Long, I didn’t expect it would turn out this way." Ai Lin’s small face was filled with unease. Although she didn’t do these things, it was related to her. She really didn’t like those so-called Imperial Guards, but Long Yi found them amusing, and it eventually became Long Yi’s own suicidal behavior.
"Heh heh, it’s not your fault. It’s just that I was being dull. I originally thought that having an Imperial Guard would be fun, but I didn’t expect these idiots to be so crazy." Long Yi patted Ai Lin’s head. Simply put, this was Long Yi’s own mistake, it really had nothing to do with Ai Lin.
"But, Brother Long, among the people you beat this time, some of their families have significant influence. If they retaliate all together, it could get troublesome." Wesley expressed his concern.
"How troublesome could it be?" Long Yi took Wesley’s warning seriously. This guy never warned Long Yi without reason.
"One of the families is related by marriage to Hagrid’s family. If we’re unlucky, you may end up in the cage." Wesley said.
Hagrid’s family, where Long Yi had once placed their favored child in a cage.
No wonder.
"Who dares!"
Almost simultaneously, the head chef, Mosquito, and Ai Lin all stood up.
The head chef and Mosquito both came from established military families that had a glorious past and significant achievements. Unfortunately, in recent years, talents in their families were dwindling and it was rare to have two genius Dragon Knights. However, their influence was substantial.
As for Ai Lin’s grandfather, General Kai Long of Iron Blood, he was one of the top three most influential generals in the land forces.
"Don’t worry! Things are not that complicated, there won’t be any problems." Long Yi didn’t take this matter seriously.
Late that night, the Dean suddenly sought Long Yi out. He told Long Yi that two families were pressuring to severely punish Long Yi by law. But the Dean’s idea was that since the Imperial Guard had been in the wrong first, any severe punishment should be meted out to the Imperial Guard first. The other parties readily agreed. Although the Imperial Guard was causing disturbance, it was not a big issue and a fine would suffice. But Long Yi’s violent acts are a bit serious and those two families were planning to have Long Yi jailed.
The Dean revealed to Long Yi that the Imperial Research Institute had sent several letters, hoping to invite Long Yi over to help with some new issues regarding the research of the battle armor. This was a good opportunity.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean nothing, their transfer request letter is right here." The Dean pointed to the desk.
"Damn it, I, Long Yi, am afraid of no one! I’m not leaving! At worst, I’ll cause a huge upset!" Long Yi didn’t care who was from which family. As long as he had the power and he was in the right, who should he fear?
"Foolish! This is not about running away! You should read this letter carefully before commenting." The Dean was so angry he was almost floating.
Long Yi opened the letter and took a careful look. It was from the Dean of Ma Deburg, claiming they had found a real golem at an underground construction site, which seemed to originate from the Dark City. They hoped Long Yi would come to take a look.
"The Dark City? The world with the most advanced crystal core technology?"
Long Yi was finally intrigued.
"Are you going?" the Dean asked.
"Absolutely not! That Golem isn’t going to run away on its own! But as a man, a real man, it’s not my style to run away from these kind of moments! I’m not scared! Let’s do this!"
Long Yi was utterly unfazed by any threat from any direction.
"Stupid! Your refusal makes things very difficult for me! You don’t have to deal with the mess! How do you expect me to close this off?" The Dean, who looked like Gandalf, bluntly slammed his table.
"Eh? Is it that troublesome?" Long Yi, who was just displaying tough-guy bravado, immediately softened up. From the Dean’s tone, it seemed he had caused some trouble. While Long Yi wasn’t very familiar with the intricacies of bureaucratic and noble issues, he instinctively felt that this wouldn’t be so simple.
"Less talk, take this transfer letter, and immediately go to the Royal Research Institute!" The Dean was so annoyed that his beard seemed to curl up.
Long Yi scratched his head somewhat sheepishly; the Dean was typically affable and had helped him quite some times. Whenever he had a problem and sought the Dean’s help, he always obliged. It appeared he had caused a bit of trouble this time, and the Dean just wanted him to lay low for a bit.
"Alright, um, sorry for the trouble I’ve caused..." Long Yi’s face reddened in embarrassment as he took the transfer letter and left.
Until Long Yi was far away, he remained puzzled as to why the Dean had acted strangely.
It wasn’t until Long Yi was gone that a figure slowly emerged from behind the Dean’s office.
A black robe on his lean frame – it was the old Black Dragon, Tyl.
"Tell me, what are you planning to do?" the Dean asked Tyl. "First you served one of the most troublesome Ghost Dragons from the Burial Ground to Ai Lin, and now you’re using this opportunity to send Long Yi to the Imperial City. What’s going on?"
Tyl casually flipped through the books on the shelf and then laughed, "Can’t you guess what I’m planning? We’re both from the Dragon Clan, and we’re not as clever as humans. I’ve left such explicit clues, it shouldn’t be hard to guess, right?"
The Dean’s brows furrowed as he said, "The Golem that the Royal Research Institute retrieved is from the Dark City. I’ve heard that the Dark City Saintess has also been quite active recently. Are these two occurrences related? Not to mention, the recent actions of the third Crown Prince... Ah, this fool!"
At the mention of the Crown Prince, the Dean’s frown deepened.
"Hahaha, so, even though you know the third Crown Prince’s plans, you’re not going to stop him, are you?" Tyl said, laughing.
"I promised my Dragon Rider that until I die, I will safeguard this nation, but only that." the Dean said.
"So, you plan to stay out of whatever’s about to happen?" Tyl asked.
"At least, I won’t be launching any attacks. After all, it was because I vowed to stay that Dragon Island allowed me to remain here, just like you," said the Dean.
"No, we are not the same. I never took that bloody vow to heart." Tyl stated.
"But your every word and action are constrained by the vow."
"So, you see, I haven’t done anything."
The Deans looked at Tyl; two old men, two old dragons, both having lost their riders and mournful, yet they chose different paths.
"Hold on! There’s something wrong with the Golem from the Dark City! Given the Dark City’s caution, how could they be so careless! Tyl, where did you go when you left the temple some time ago?" abruptly, the Dean looked at Tyl, his eyes flashing with a dangerous glow.
"Haha, old friend, you’ve finally figured it out." Tyl laughed.
"Are you planning to draw away Long Yi?"
"Exactly."
"What’s the point of drawing away Long Yi?"
"Redirecting Long Yi is meaningless, but it’s not just Long Yi!"
Tyl laughed, he looked very happy. He slowly explained all his plans, leaving the Dean shocked into silence.
"Tyl, you will be condemned by the vow, you will be taken back to Dragon Island by the Dragon Clan elders, and you will be locked up in the Burial Ground! And this, is what you seek, isn’t it!"
The Dean murmured to himself, but by this time, Tyl was no longer present.
The next morning, when angry people came to Long Yi’s dormitory, they found Long Yi was already gone.
Ask Ai Lin, ask Mina, ask Wesley, even ask the head chef Mosquito Brother, they all claimed to know nothing! Of course they knew – Long Yi had told them all the previous night. But no matter what, they wouldn’t say a word.
"Long Yi has fled out of fear of punishment!" people from the two families stormed into the Dean’s office and banged on the desk.
"It’s not that he fled out of fear of punishment, he’s been transferred by the Royal Research Institute. He’s now gone to the Imperial City." The Dean said.
"Contact the family in the Imperial City immediately and have them go to the Royal Research Institute to fetch him!" A group of people bolted out hurriedly.
The Dean watched them run out and shook his head. If they were going to retrieve Long Yi now, chances were, he would already be on his way to Dark City. (To be continued.
