Chapter 277: Chapter 188: History in Legend

A library?

Long Yi followed the Emperor through the main gate, where the entire library was completely empty. Normally, there would be people studying diligently here, with a 24-hour shift librarian on duty. But today, the entire library was deserted.

"The entire Dragon Knight Academy is on vacation. The library is temporarily closed for internal repairs during the holiday period," the Emperor said.

"That’s an excuse," Long Yi didn’t believe it.

"Indeed, it is an excuse. I don’t want anyone to see me bringing you here," the Emperor candidly admitted.

Wait a minute!

The plot of this story is getting a bit strange! Late night! Library! Two men! A secret rendezvous!

Is this a favourite scenario among fujoshi?

"Your Majesty! I like women! I don’t like men! You know, if anyone dares to make me pick up soap, I’ll punch him to death!" Long Yi’s face changed abruptly!

The Emperor burst into raucous laughter: "Alright, shut up, it’s not as obscene as you’re thinking."

Pausing for a moment, the Emperor continued: "Actually, I didn’t intend to find you this urgently. I’ve observed your growth and efforts, and while I’m concerned, especially about the chaos you’re bound to wreak in the Seven Nations Tournament, I thought that Elsa, whom I sent to assist you after repeatedly warning her to be careful, would keep you grounded. I knew that while you wanted to defeat them all, you had a broader perspective. However, I’m concerned that this opportunity will be lost. So, I decided that it’s best to tell you this earlier."

Speaking of this, the two men had already reached the top.

This place was strictly off-limits to outsiders. The highest restrictions of the entire library were implemented here. Unless the Emperor personally came here, no one else could open the door to this place.

The door was made of pure metal with inscriptions that not even the Emperor could decipher.

But Long Yi could.

Because the inscriptions were in the language of the Giants.

’Ye who stands before this gate, invoke my name, and a warrior’s return shall I greet.’

"Giant’s Armament!"

Crack!

A dark golden arc spread from Long Yi’s hand, guiding his fingertip over each word. The inscriptions under the arc began to shine with a golden light!

Crack!

Buzz!

The dark golden door slowly opened, a nostalgic aura wafting from within!

That’s...!

Such a large sword!

The golden ancient great sword stood upright in the centre of the huge magical array of the empty room. The ten-meter-tall sword was covered in minuscule, unrecognisable runes which emitted tiny arcs before being absorbed by the array. As Long Yi appeared, he could distinctly feel a surge of joy coming from the sword. It felt akin to a lost child seeing its parents!

"As expected, the Giant’s Armament is here."

The voice of the Fine Gold Golem echoed from behind them.

The Emperor suddenly turned around, looking tense. How did the golem appear unexpectedly?

"Big sis, how exactly are you walking without making any noise on the wooden floor?" Long Yi asked, grinning.

"It’s not me. This guy, it noticed me and dragged me up here," the Fine Gold Golem said, caressing the giant sword, its fingertips brushing against the metal and making a crisp sound.

"Are you familiar with each other?" Long Yi could clearly sense the affinity of the giant sword towards both him and the Fine Gold Golem. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Very familiar, we were made by the same creator," the Fine Gold Golem clarified.

"The pervert you keep talking about?" Long Yi asked while suddenly feeling a tingling sensation in his nose as if he was about to sneeze, but held it back.

"Yes, that very pervert," the Fine Gold Golem, smiling, agreed.

"Achoo!" Long Yi ultimately couldn’t hold back and sneezed, then felt much more comfortable.

At this time, the Emperor couldn’t ignore the Fine Gold Golem standing in front of him any longer. As someone privy to important secrets, he naturally understood just how significant the words just spoken by the Fine Gold Golem were. So, he simply took two steps back, allowing the Fine Gold Golem to pass. Clearly, even though he knew many secrets, they could not possibly outnumber those known by the Fine Gold Golem!

The Fine Gold Golem, with its back towards Long Yi, a small voice sounded: "The event has been advanced, starting to correct the timeline."

"Master, now, a choice must be made," the Fine Gold Golem, standing before the golden greatsword, slowly stated.

"Choice?"

"Yes, choice!"

"What choice?"

"Next, I will tell you a story. A story you already understand, but not in its entirety. After hearing this story, you will pick up this sword and become the enemy of the entire world. Of course, you can also choose not to listen to my story. We could leave this place and pretend nothing happened."

"Be the enemy of the whole world? Will you guys also be my enemies?" Long Yi asked.

"Impossible." The Fine Gold Golem said earnestly, "You are my master, my only master. Even if all the planes of the entire universe become your enemies, I will absolutely not let you get hurt until I’m shattered."

"Hey, Miss Golem, can I take this as your confession of love? Let’s be clear, although I’m very powerful, I’m helpless against metallic items," Long Yi promptly capitalized on the opportunity to lighten the mood.

The Fine Gold Golem was taken aback and then squeezed out two words: "Pervert!"

Long Yi’s nose tickled again. He scratched it, then chuckled, "Alright, no more jokes. Look, that’s just how I am. I’m full of curiosity. If you hadn’t told me so much, I might not have cared. But now that you’ve said all this, it’s impossible for me to give up! So, tell me this story. Being the enemy of the whole world and whatnot, we bros are used to it."

The Fine Gold Golem nodded, then turned to glance at the Emperor. Before it could even open its mouth, however, the Emperor walked away. The Emperor’s heart was racing because he was very certain that he had just placed the heaviest bet on the massive table of the future.

The door closed silently, and the Fine Gold Golem began its tale.

Once upon a time, very long, long ago, God created this universe and crafted countless planets within it.

Because the planets were barren, God created different beings in his image on different planets. God takes countless forms, and different races are just the result of a random assortment of his countless images. First, he created the Giants and the Dragons.

God gave the Giants strong bodies, but he also bestowed upon them superior wisdom and benevolent faith; while gifting Dragons with stronger bodies, he associated them with certain cunning traits.

Of course, God did not do this intentionally; these were random choices.

The Giants flourished on their planet of the Giants, and the Dragon Clan propagated on Dragon Star. The Giants evolved to have powerful technology, they were advanced to such an extent that they quickly mastered the technology to create life and then the technology to leave their planet. Before long, the Giants paid a visit to the Dragon Clan. As God’s flawless creations, the Giants looked after these instinct-driven strong beings, teaching them how to harness power, how to cast magic and harness fighting aura to improve themselves. Then, some Dragons were able to explore the universe through their own bodies.

God created different forms of life on different planets and even different planes. The Giants, knowing that they were God’s first children, felt obliged to help the life forms that appeared later. Afterwards, the Giants would follow in God’s footsteps, assisting those lives in growing and maturing. Whereas the Dragon Clan would also show up, but they preferred to bully these young beings for amusement.

Of course, at that time, the Giants didn’t overthink it. They just perceived it as the nature of the Dragon Clan.

Meanwhile, the Giants had started a new experiment on another planet - they were creating humans. Humans were smaller, weaker, but smarter. The Giants established a base on this planet and did all they could to help humans, believing that if directed correctly, the humans they created could form an even grander civilization than that of the Giants!

At the same time, some of the Dragon Clan also started migrating to this new planet to live.

All seemed quite normal.

Until, seventeen thousand years ago.

Seventeen thousand years ago, the Dragon Clan, without any forewarning, launched a major attack on the Giants, driving them out of the Giant Star. The Dragons took the Giant star as a second Dragon Star, ransacking all of the Giants’ technology, and initiating a thousand-year Giant hunting spree. Nobody across the planes knew why the Dragon Clan would do such a thing, as the selfless Giants posed no threat to anyone.

The Dragon Clan originally planned to wipe out humans. But, before the Giants left, they cursed all Dragons, only human wisdom could fully harness the might of the powerful Dragons.

At first, this curse drove the Dragon Clan mad, because it rendered all Dragons incapable of casting any magic or harnessing fighting aura besides Dragon Breath! They started to massacre humans, but they quickly discovered that once humans became extinct, the Dragon Clan would never be able to cast magic again!

After that war, a part of the population who hated wars and the alliance between humans and the Dragon Clan used magic to flee into the sea, forming the present-day Sea Clan and Sea Dragon Clan. The Sea Clan’s magic also changed the evolution of life in the ocean, gradually forming the present-day Sea Clan.

Dragons are not as smart; they didn’t understand what had caused the Dragon Clan to lose the ability to harness power.

However, among countless Dragons, there would inevitably be some smart ones.

The Dragon Clan decided to join this world under a different identity. They altered history, erased all traces of the Giants, and all memories of the Dragon Clan’s massacre of humans. Humanity’s world, formerly flourishing under the Giants’ guidance, began to decline, then rebound with prosperity. After countless years, leading to inevitable conflicts, the Dragon Clan emerged. They created the Dragon Rider Academy, selecting the most talented youth to become Dragon Riders. Meanwhile, the Dragon Clan sent their excellent younger generation to the human world, when these Dragons returned to Dragon Island, they brought back human knowledge, as well as the hope for the Dragon Clan to break the curse.

But to this day, the curse remains strong. None of the Dragons understand how to break it. Occasionally, a few old Dragons could cast magic after turning into humans, but by that time, it is already near their moment of death.

Long Yi was thoroughly stupefied.(To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it on Qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
