Chapter 264: Chapter 182: Finally showing your tusks?_2
"Are you trying to incite war?" protested the diplomat, as he angrily slapped the table and stood up.
"War? Do you think you’re a match for us?" jeered the Green Dragon Empire’s diplomat.
"Yes, do you think you can compete with us?" scoffed the Blue Dragon Empire’s diplomat.
"One ignited spark would be enough to burn your forest down, let’s see how arrogant you’ll be then!" The Red Dragon Empire’s diplomat yelled, gesturing angrily at his green counterpart.
"That’s all they’re saying." Wesley reported to Long Yi, having observed the discussion between the diplomats and the judges through Observation Dragon’s eyes and translating their conversation via lip-reading.
"So you’re saying that the match isn’t over?" Long Yi glanced around, and turned to face Ka Zan, instructing, "Tell all our brothers to keep their composure. No one should go up there at this time. If we can buy a bit more time, I’ll find a solution!"
Although Ka Zan was not quite certain what sort of solution Long Yi had in mind, he didn’t have a better contingency plan himself, especially considering their current situation of being closely watched and their considerably smaller manpower, which made the situation extremely dangerous.
Ka Zan passed on Long Yi’s message. It was fortunate that Long Yi had forewarned them in advance. Without such a warning, the rest of their group, who had been observing the match from the rest area, would have been itching to join the fight. According to Long Yi’s estimation, if they rushed out now, a round of ambushing would inevitably follow.
Long Yi was essentially gambling on the overconfidence of that idiotic emperor, betting that the emperor was not yet ready to completely burn the bridges just yet!
Since you’ve changed the rules instead of ignoring them, then let’s play by the rules!
The moment they decided to use Dragon Breath, the five members of the White Dragon Empire immediately spread out and distanced themselves. The White Dragon, with one of the best linear Dragon Breath abilities among all dragon species, often used the Dragon Breath attack at a medium distance. It was their signature move. The Black Dragon’s Dragon Breath, on the other hand, was in the form of smoke, suitable for large-scale attacks but incapable of inflicting damage from afar. However, the knight on the Black Dragon’s back was constantly casting Fighting Aura spells with the help of the four Dragon Marks, causing a great deal of damage from a distance. Those in the crowd were severely injured by the Fighting Aura spells. Yet these fanatics did not flee but instead screamed even louder.
What kind of twisted society would bring up ordinary people who were not even afraid of death?
Long Yi suddenly felt a profound sense of loathing toward this country.
In Long Yi’s worldview, the boundary between soldiers and civilians was clear. Soldiers were killing machines. It was their glory to kill their enemies and die on the battlefield. Civilians should patiently wait for protection, instead of acting like madmen who became even more excited as they watched their comrades die.
It was downright despicable.
Something was really wrong here!
"Raise the defense barrier! Protect the civilians!" Emperor Kaniel Black ordered from the spectator stands.
Instantly, a barrier appeared, completely isolating the entire arena.
"Great, now we’re officially trapped in here," Ka Zan remarked with a bitter smile.
"It’s all for show. Even without this barrier, he wouldn’t have let us go," Long Yi said. He then stretched out and turned to Ai Lin, Wesley, and Cook and Mosquito, the two brothers, instructing, "Alright, let’s warm up. We’re going up next."
Naturally, Ai Lin did as instructed and started to warm up, whereas the few newcomers were all stunned.
"Brother Long, are you serious or are you just joking?" Wesley asked, his large eyes wide open in disbelief.
"Of course I’m serious. How could I joke about a fight?" Long Yi responded.
"Brother Long, isn’t Bajie still a young dragon?" Cook asked seriously.
"Indeed." Long Yi affirmed.
"Xiaoyou, yes, the Shadow Dragon dancing above Bajie’s head. It’s also a young dragon, correct?" Mosquito asked.
"Yes, it’s also a young dragon. And it’s not dancing, it’s warming up," Long Yi corrected.
"Brother, they just underwent the transformation! They have four Dragon Marks! We can’t even fly! All we can do is watch from the ground! Even if you’re powerful, you can’t reach them from the ground! Are you sending us to our death?" The three wailed in unison.
"Don’t worry, we’re all brothers. This gives us an opportunity to add to our accolades. How could it be a death mission?" Long Yi beckoned them forward with a mysterious grin. "Just wait and do as I say. Everything will be fine."
Cook paused, "Are you sure this will work?"
Long Yi gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "Of course it will!"
After thinking it over, Cook smirked, patting his chubby cheeks, "Let’s go for it!"
While watching Cook and Mosquito prepare for the imminent fight, Wesley felt far less optimistic. Of everyone present, his Observation Dragon was the least formidable, a liability on the battlefield. Now, with Long Yi dragging him along for the fight, wasn’t he just adding to the burden?
Long Yi naturally noticed Wesley’s worries. He pulled Wesley closer and said, "Brother, our lives are now in your hands."
Hearing Long Yi’s words, Wesley’s legs gave way instantly, but he was propped up by Long Yi’s grip on his clothes.
"Brother Long, I’m not the kind of person who performs better when under more pressure..." Wesley said with a downcast look.
"I know, but I just want to remind you, if your performance isn’t up to par this time, we might really end up dead here." Long Yi then released Wesley, who still felt shaky on his legs, and walked over to Ai Lin. Seeing Ai Lin’s smiling face, Wesley was filled with resentment.
