Chapter 261: Chapter 181: Tense Situation! _2
"The bad news is, our team leader might have defected." Long Yi said.
"Damn! Seriously?" Wesley’s eyes widened.
"So, is there another piece of bad news?" The cook seriously asked, uncharacteristically not fooling around.
"The other piece of bad news is that the army that was supposed to meet us outside has been redirected by another traitor."
"!"
Upon hearing this, everyone present was visibly taken aback.
"I’ll go and inform the seniors." Not wasting a moment due to the urgency of the situation, Long Yi went to find the elder among the seniors who were observing the battle. He quietly said, "Senior, the news I am about to deliver is highly critical. No matter what you hear, don’t change your expressions, better yet, try to smile, as if I am telling you a joke."
Understanding the seriousness of Long Yi’s tone, the senior didn’t think Long Yi was unreliable, even though they didn’t know each other well. So, he immediately smiled and said, "Go ahead."
Long Yi slowly narrated his findings. The smile on the elder’s face grew broader, but his eyes were filled with tension!
Damn it! This isn’t a drill!
"Hahaha, what a joke! You want to compete! Your dragon can’t even fly yet! Don’t embarrass yourself!" The senior roared with laughter.
"Damn it! You’re looking down upon me! What’s your name! I challenge you to a duel!" Long Yi shouted loudly.
"My name is Ka Zan! If you have any objections, we can sort it out later! But now go play on the side, don’t disturb us watching the game!" Ka Zan said.
With a disgruntled expression, Long Yi turned around and left.
"Come on, let me tell you a joke about Long Yi!" As Long Yi left, Ka Zan loudly said.
Everyone immediately gathered around, and quickly, smiles were seen on everyone’s faces.
From afar, the two guards guarding the exit smirked at them.
"These fools, they’re about to die and they don’t even know it!" One of them said.
"Let them have their fun. Not a single person from White Dragon will leave!" The other one said cruelly.
"Well said!"
An alluring voice suddenly echoed, followed by a chilling sensation piercing their bodies, their thoughts becoming fuzzy, and their vision suddenly going black.
"How was it?" Long Yi asked.
"The two guards at the back have been frozen from their bodies right through to their souls." Little Zi clapped her hands and said.
"Good, now let’s have a temporary pre-battle meeting." Long Yi said.
At the location of the airship.
Several giant dragons were guarding outside the airship, their bodies full of wounds from a recent fierce battle. The closed cabin was in a mess, bodies littered everywhere, some Dragon Knights from the White Dragon Empire were removing the corpses. In the operation center, the deans of various institutes were grouped together, looking at the body and feeling regretful.
The body belonged to a young and promising researcher who, until recently, was one of their colleagues. But now he was dead.
He was a traitor who tried to hijack the airship but was killed by the deans. These old deans may not appear formidable, but their countless inventions were their secret weapons.
"What should we do now? Should we leave?"
The speaker was the vice-dean of the mechanic research institute. His arm was injured, but not severely.
"Leave? The moment we take off, the Dragon Knights will shoot us down." Dean Ma Deburg of the crystal core research institute said.
"So what should we do then? Just sit here waiting for death?"
"Right now, there really isn’t a good strategy. That damn Black Dragon Emperor is really capable of this! This is blatant warfare! He clearly wants to quickly seize the airship, detain all of us, and use us as bargaining chips." A researcher said.
"Our best strategy now is to do nothing and wait for the White Dragon Empire’s rescue. We simply can’t escape from the heartland of the Black Dragon Empire." Another researcher said.
"Right now, it’s not us that I’m worried about." Dean Ma Deburg said, "I’m worried that the vile Black Dragon Emperor won’t spare these children."
Now that the guards were no longer eavesdropping, Long Yi immediately called everyone together for a makeshift pre-battle meeting.
Ka Zan was already in his thirties. Initially, he found it amusing that Long Yi, a kid who skipped grades to be in fifth grade at nineteen, was asking them to attend a meeting. Even though the situation was urgent, what could this little youngster do? Did he even know how to wage war?
But when Long Yi began speaking, Ka Zan soon realized that Long Yi had a wealth of experience in real combat. Especially his reasoning of several possibilities, even Ka Zan himself hadn’t thought of. Little did Ka Zan know, Long Yi in his previous life had ventured behind enemy lines alone more than once, such an experience was invaluable!
While Long Yi was in the meeting, he was also keeping an eye on the battlefield. He assessed that the opponent would reveal their cards at some crucial moment.
On the battlefield, the fight between both sides was intense. Each attack from the Black Dragon weakened the opponent’s defences, while the White Dragon’s attacks increased their own damage. Completely engaged in head-to-head combat without any fancy maneuvers, they were all from Academy styles, it was difficult to find a significant flaw.
