Chapter 253: Chapter 178: Airship! _3

Before long, a burst of multicolored sparks exploded in the sky behind them.

"This is our first long-distance flight, and our first time traveling at full speed. Indeed, we did not consider every factor! That was too close for comfort." Dean Ma Deburg was sweating cold bullets - what a relief it was that the Fine Gold Golem had removed that thing. Had it exploded in the engine room, perhaps everyone aboard the airship would have fallen.

As Dragon Knights, falling wouldn’t cause any injuries. However, it could instantly become an international laughingstock.

Too embarrassing to bear.

While the airship was gradually speeding up, the roaring sound around them began to soften, replaced by the increased noise of the wind.

Then, the color of some runes on the airship shifted, a flash of light blinked, and the wind noise instantly decreased.

"What is that?" Dean Ma Deburg couldn’t sit still anymore. He rushed to the bedside and asked.

"Wind barrier. It automatically activates when the airship reaches its standard speed. It reduces air resistance, increasing speed," the Fine Gold Golem explained.

"We... we’ve never activated it during our tests..." Dean Ma Deburg muttered.

"Because the speed was not sufficient," said the Fine Gold Golem.

"That ancient civilization... extraordinary... too powerful," Dean Ma Deburg sighed with deep emotion.

"Indeed, extremely powerful. The airship you treasure so much was actually a household cargo airship," the Fine Gold Golem said.

"Household! Cargo!"

Dean Ma Deburg was thoroughly stunned.

"Such an excellent airship! And it’s only household-grade?"

"Correct."

"Then what does a military-grade one look like?"

"The largest aerial warfare base back then covered an area about three times the size of Academy City, permanently floating in the sky. It only required seventeen people to maintain and operate. Its most potent cannon could destroy your Imperial City with a single shot."

Dean Ma Deburg was shocked.

Scared senseless.

With a few simple sentences, Dean Ma Deburg felt as if he was witnessing a ghost. No! It was like witnessing a god!

This world is a multi-plane world, rumored to have the Divine Dragon Clan, the Demon Clan, the Feather Tribe, and the Beast Clan in the higher planes. These races are all supremely powerful, but rarely appear in this world.

Of all the things about the higher planes, humans know most about the Demon Tribe.

Humans feared the power of the Demon Tribe, but through hunting demons, they gained power from the Crystal Cores of the Demon Tribe.

Another creature from the higher plane is the dragon of the Demon Abyss.

The Demon Abyss Dragon King once instantly destroyed a city. The Demon Abyss Dragon is considered a creature of the higher plane, but the so-called ’instant’ is merely a figure of speech. Regardless of how powerful a group of dragons was, it would still need to breathe out Dragon Breath multiple times to destroy a city.

However, according to the Fine Gold Golem, that ancient civilization could obliterate a city with a single shot!

At this point, Long Yi thought of a scene from the film "Independence Day" - the gigantic alien spaceship bombing the White House.

It was so similar.

"However, why did such a potent civilization disappear?" Dean Ma Deburg often sighed with regret, thinking about how such a glorious civilization could cease to exist. And now, with the Fine Gold Golem, an antique from that era, how could he not seek an answer?

"If they didn’t disappear, would your humans still have a chance?" The Fine Gold Golem asked in return.

Dean Ma Deburg was taken aback for a moment. He was not a fool; he understood that such a mighty civilization would suppress the lesser civilizations. Sometimes, even if not intentional, the potent civilizations were too dominant, leaving the weaker societies without room for progress.

However, Dean Ma Deburg was very aware that the Golem, with her hot exterior, originated from that era. But to be able to say these things, this Golem was definitely not as simple as she described herself to be.

The Fine Gold Golem didn’t answer the question directly, but the same question kept circulating in Long Yi’s mind.

How could an adversary destroy such a powerful civilization of giants? And what kind of destruction would a war between highly advanced civilizations inflict upon this world?

The most significant question was, if the giants did not perish, where did they go?

Afterward, everyone was deep in their own thoughts, and no one spoke again.

Noon, in the Emperor’s study.

"It’s Long Yi? The descendant of the giants is Long Yi?" The Emperor, looking at the report in his hand, was amazed. This report came from the Magic Research Institute. A few months ago, Long Yi had almost died due to absorbing some of the Power of Rules. The report had reached the Emperor’s desk. Initially, the Emperor had shown special concern for Long Yi, but he never expected this particular attention would help him find the person he had been seeking!

"Damn it! That punk Long Yi went to participate in the Seven Nations Competition, I hope he doesn’t stir up any trouble."

The Emperor suddenly stood up, pacing around the study before returning to sit behind his desk.

"It won’t work; I can’t show any special concern for him. That punk is already conspicuous enough. If I take any special action now, people would pay more attention to him - that’d be troublesome."

The Emperor sat there, his eyes reflecting a myriad of emotions.

"The person from the prophecy has appeared, but not as the figure I know. He is different from the prophecy; what should I do?"

At this moment, there was a knock on the door.

The Emperor quickly balled up the report in his hand, and with a flick of his hand, it turned into ashes.

"Come in."

As the door to the study opened, the third prince appeared.

In recent times, the third prince had been performing well, exhibiting a change from his former arrogance. He began taking care of his underlings, started learning earnestly, and often spoke about his regret towards Long Yi. He admitted that it was Long Yi’s beating that made him realize his errors.

Everyone said that this time the third prince had genuinely matured.

"Father, haven’t you rested yet?" The third prince entered, carrying dishes of food.

"Hmm, just some minor matters," the Emperor replied with a small smile.

"On my way here, I saw a servant carrying food, so I knew you were still busy. Since I was passing by, I offered to bring it for you. Rest for a while," the third prince said.

Looking at the food in front of him, an even more radiant smile spread on the Emperor’s face.

"Third son, I can’t eat all of this, let’s eat together," the Emperor suggested.

"I’ve already eaten, Father. You’ve been so busy; you should eat more," the third prince declined quickly.

"Yes, yes, your filial piety is so heartening to me!" said the Emperor, and as he spoke, he moved the books on the table aside, got the food from the plate, and began eating.

For some reason, the third prince detected something strange in the Emperor’s tone. However, he relaxed the moment he saw the Emperor eating the food and didn’t think much of it.

"Father, how is the taste?" The third prince asked hesitantly.

"Ha-ha, my own son served me this. Even if there were poison, it will surely be the most delicious dish!" The Emperor said this and then burst into laughter. (To be continued.
