Chapter 1631: Chapter 1227: The Importance of the Dragon Knight
Two Red Dragons entangled with each other, and the single Red Dragon rejoiced, believing it could now engage in an exhilarating battle. However, the outcome was not much different from before; although it was a close combat, the opponent avoided all possible harm through bizarre aerial maneuvers, while it kept sustaining injuries. This infuriated the Red Dragon, yet there was nothing it could do. In a blink, the single Red Dragon was already covered in scars. To enhance the battle effect, both sides were forbidden from using healing abilities, which made the scars on the single Red Dragon quite frightening, whereas the Red Dragon with a Dragon Knight had few.
Roar!
The heavily wounded Red Dragon roared in fury, deciding to go all out against its opponent.
Both sides simultaneously retreated, then accelerated towards each other, spreading their wings ablaze with flames.
"Dragon Wing Slash!"
Boom!
Two trails of blazing Fighting Aura swept through space.
This meant neither side hit their mark.
But the single Red Dragon stopped in its place, turning its head to look at the other Red Dragon with a Dragon Knight not far behind, staring at the Dragon Scale-formed cockpit behind the Red Dragon’s horn.
"I lost," said the injured Red Dragon.
All the watching Giant Dragons and Celestial Clan warriors had seen it; though both missed their strikes, the difference was significant. The Red Dragon with the Dragon Knight avoided the strike with its astonishing aerial maneuvers, and at the moment of dodging, they clearly had a chance to deliver a fatal blow, but they deliberately waited until the other passed by, which was a significant concession.
Thus, conceding defeat was entirely appropriate because it had lost.
In a small-scale team battle, the Human Realm deployed a Knight Order entirely composed of Black Dragons, ten dragons. Slite also deployed ten Black Dragons. Black Dragons’ reduced combativeness could give them an edge in such small skirmishes. However, since both sides were Black Dragons, no one knew what would happen.
Since the start of the fight, Elder Slite remained silent, always watching the battle intently.
"How do you find that battle just now?" White Dragon Elder Ashton asked.
"Huh? What? Oh, I thought it was splendid," said Slite.
"I noticed you seemed distracted," said Ashton.
"I initially thought my old friend Gulelie would come with the troops, but after inquiring, the Black Dragons told me Gulelie seemed to have stayed in the Human Realm," said Slite.
"My old friend Asus is the same. Initially, both of them took on the responsibility of caring for the entire Dragon Clan in the Human Realm. Despite taking detours and making mistakes, their contribution to the Dragon Clan is undeniable. This time, they both abandoned their Dragon identities, chose to become humans, and stayed in the Human Realm, we cannot blame them for anything," Ashton said.
"Yes, just sad I couldn’t meet my old friend."
"No worries, once the war is over, even if you want to settle in the Human Realm, you can," Ashton said with a smile.
In the battlefield, a battle of ten versus ten started, one comprised of Black Dragons with Dragon Knights, the other ten solitary Black Dragons.
Team cooperation is one of the fundamental tactical trainings for Dragon Knights. Cooperation means protecting allies to create advantages and helping allies avoid disadvantages.
This is something the solo-trained Black Dragons simply couldn’t do. When Black Dragons moved in groups, they rushed to help wherever needed without making strategic judgements about the battlefield situation. Judging the battlefield, however, is a required course for Dragon Knights. During battles, Dragon Knights continuously exchange opinions based on their individual states.
The overall tactical approach was still to create an advantage at a distance, then use cross-covering methods for cooperation when close enough.
If the previous one-on-one battle seemed less exciting, this small-scale battle was definitely a spectacle, as the side with the Dragon Knights’ Black Dragons forced the ten solitary Black Dragons into a state where they could only barely hold up through their exquisite coordinated efforts!
Similar spell casting, the same Dragon Breath, but it always seemed a bit lacking. Their attacks were either dodged or blocked by other Black Dragons, not achieving their intended purpose.
The battle ended soon.
The solitary Black Dragons conceded defeat voluntarily, as their coordination was too perfect, leaving no opening to counter-attack from start to finish.
"So, do we still proceed with the last large-scale formation battle?" Ashton asked Slite.
"Yes, it has to be fought. If it comes to a formation battle depending entirely on numbers, we may not lose," Slite said.
"Do you believe that yourself?" Ashton asked with a smile.
"I don’t, but some do, so this battle must be fought. I have to make all the Dragons opposing the Dragon Knights shut up," Slite said in a low voice.
"I knew it."
In the group battle, each side had a thousand Giant Dragons.
The Human Realm side consisted of mixed troops including various types of dragons.
The majority were Black Dragons and Red Dragons, with a few Green Dragons, and only fifty White Dragons.
Slite’s side was more casual, with a mix of various Giant Dragons.
The battle began.
Red Dragons and Black Dragons as the vanguard charged without hesitation, blasting all sorts of Dragon Breath and Magic at the opponent without waiting. On the other side, possessing Dragon Knights did not enhance their Magic intensity; both sides were equal purely in terms of energy. Purely in energy clashing, they were evenly matched.
