Chapter 1535: Chapter 184: Serious and Responsible
In a future where all worms had vanished from the universe, the plane was incredibly tranquil. However, the worm nest itself remained within this plane, and within it, new worms were constantly being bred. A group of specially trained warriors guarded the worm nest, defending daily against the attacks of zealots who mysteriously worshiped the worms. Their ultimate goal was to control the worm nest and use it to release more worms. They firmly believed that being parasitized by the worms was the first step for mortals to ascend to godhood.
In another future, the worm nest had been completely destroyed. But before its destruction, countless worms had already burrowed out from within it. These worms, parasitically living inside living beings, seemed harmless at first glance, yet no one knew what might occur in the future.
These were the two potential futures that the prophets had shown Long Yi, and clearly, neither was acceptable to him.
"Is that all? Are these the only two possibilities you saw?" Long Yi asked.
"Yes, that’s all. The futures we see only hold these possibilities," replied the prophet.
"The problem arises here because I cannot accept either of these futures," Long Yi stated.
"Yes, I feel the same. Before this, I had never even imagined that we might see such uncertain futures. But I think, if it’s you, perhaps you could find a more perfect future than the ones we have seen," the elder prophet said.
"I like what you’re saying. I am exactly the kind of person who can turn decay into magic, the impossible into the possible, hahaha!" Long Yi laughed in response.
After that, things became simple. Leaving the Eye of the Ancestor, Long Yi traveled via the Eye of the Ancestor’s teleportation array to a major nearby city, and then took another teleportation array to the realm of the Celestial Clan. As the City of Ten Thousand Gates, the Celestial Clan’s Imperial City could be considered the most prosperous spot across the upper planes. However, Long Yi had no time to linger on various exotic novelties; he headed straight for the Imperial Palace. The matter concerned the worm nest, and Long Yi could not afford any delays.
Approaching the front of the Imperial Palace, Long Yi unsurprisingly was stopped by the Celestial Clan warriors guarding it.
"Imperial Palace restricted area! Unauthorized people are not allowed inside!" the warrior shouted authoritatively.
"I want to see Selena. I am not unauthorized," Long Yi said.
"The Eldest Princess? Haha, you?" the warrior laughed.
"Yes, the Eldest Princess, indeed. It’s me," Long Yi replied with a smile. At this moment, Long Yi had discarded the armor of The Forgotten Ones he usually wore. He was just dressed in commoner’s clothes. Although not shabby, they were definitely far from luxurious.
"Leave this place. I’ve seen too many ordinary people who come here, hoping to witness the future Empress’s glory. You’re not the first, nor will you be the last. If you stay in the Imperial City, with some luck, you might see the Eldest Princess on some street, but here in the Imperial Palace, this is not a place for people like you. So, you can leave now."
The guard was polite enough, though his words were not the nicest.
"Well, here’s the thing—I strongly suggest that you report it anyway. Just say Long Yi is here, and then let your Eldest Princess decide whether to see me or not. If you unilaterally decide to send me away, I am confident that you will regret it," Long Yi said leisurely.
"Regret?" The warrior laughed, "Although I haven’t been enlisted for long, I know that the Eldest Princess likely doesn’t have such an ordinary friend. However, if you don’t leave and continue to create trouble here, don’t blame me for being rude."
As he spoke, a Light Spear started to form in the warrior’s hand.
"Not very friendly," Long Yi muttered. At this time, he didn’t have any official identity, and Elsa hadn’t given him any sort of token either. Should he brazenly claim to be Elsa’s boyfriend?
Never mind, it seemed like he would be ridiculed even more by the opposition.
Just then, a man’s voice suddenly came from behind Long Yi.
"What are you doing?"
The warrior maneuvered around Long Yi’s body to take a look, and then quickly saluted, "Lord Nim!"
Long Yi turned around, and indeed, it was Nim who he had not seen for a long time.
"Yo, long time no see," Long Yi smiled and raised his hand in greeting.
"Brother Long!" Nim hurried over.
"Brother Long?" The kneeling warrior was immediately dumbfounded. Who was Nim? He was a legend among the recent Celestial Clan warriors. After returning from the Human Realm, he had decisively cut off contact with First Prince Sajia and sincerely dedicated himself to protecting Princess Elsa. In a short time, he had become a powerful warrior surpassing legendary status. And here he was, apparently looking at this common man with a pleasing gaze!
"Nim, didn’t I tell you to protect Elsa properly? Why did you run off alone?" Long Yi glared as he spoke.
Nim immediately became puzzled; the psychological shadows from his time in the Human Realm surged forth, and the backbone built in the Heavenly Realm immediately bent.
"Brother Long, you know the character of Princess Elsa, right? She goes wherever she wishes, never letting me follow!" Nim said with a rueful smile.
