Chapter 1522: Chapter 1178: Trouble Comes Knocking
The city park was sparsely populated. Those present in their armor were clearly wealthy, enjoying their time with utmost elegance. However, the appearance of Long Yi and Elsa felt out of place. Their armor was the standard-issue for soldiers from the Golden Emperor planet—plain and far from luxurious. Thus, their arrival stirred discontent among the affluent.
Waiters were present in the park, and some wealthy individuals summoned them to inquire about the newcomers. After the waiters responded, the wealthy, though not verbalizing much, clearly showed their disdain and dissatisfaction toward Long Yi and Elsa through their body language.
"It feels like we are invaders," Long Yi said.
"That’s actually true. This is their cherished little world, and by coming here, we are indeed invaders," Elsa replied with a smile.
"So, what do you think those people will do to us ’invaders’ later?"
At the entrance of the park, a group of warriors clad in striking armor walked in. Long Yi noticed that they hadn’t paid any entrance fee and the sanitizing light treatments for them were notably brief. Even though they didn’t approach immediately, they seemed to be constantly watching Long Yi and Elsa.
"Are they looking for trouble?" Elsa asked.
"Let’s not worry about them for now. It’s not easy to find green trees and flowers; let’s enjoy this rare tranquility."
Due to the severe scarcity of greenery, parks were among the most luxurious places in The Forgotten Ones’ cities. Every blade of grass, every leaf was protected, and even a single dried leaf on the ground could fetch an exorbitant price—and there were indeed nobles who paid for them!
Long Yi witnessed it himself—a wealthy man purchasing a green leaf to give to his companion.
Obviously, this was akin to the known human tradition where men buy flowers for women. Although the common flower was everywhere, renaming it to ’rose’ and giving it to a girlfriend represented consumption indeed.
The area where Long Yi and Ai Lin were located was relatively smaller and cheaper, which meant limited space. Long Yi lay down, inhaling the long-missed scent of the grass, feeling very comfortable.
Then, a waiter approached.
"Hello, sir, please do not touch any of the flowers or plants," the waiter said coldly.
Touching the plants?
Long Yi looked around confusedly, realizing that when he had laid down, his head had slightly brushed against a blade of grass on the edge.
My goodness, such absurd regulations.
Adhering to the good tradition of respecting local customs, Long Yi carefully scooted backward.
"Sir, please do not overstep. The area you rented is limited to inside this circle," the waiter still spoke coldly.
Long Yi looked down and saw his foot was on the boundary line.
So he retracted his legs and crossed one over the other.
"Sir, please do not make such indecent actions. This is a high-end consumption area, and it may disturb other guests," the waiter reiterated coldly.
Long Yi felt annoyed.
If they treated everyone equally here, Long Yi would have nothing to complain about. Considering he was an outsider, it was logical to follow the rules. However, the three things he was accused of had been continuously violated by numerous people since he had entered, and now this waiter was targeting him specifically?
"Being targeted, huh?" Long Yi sat up reluctantly and looked up at the waiter.
"You are mistaken, sir. I am not targeting you specifically; I am just reminding you not to break our rules," the waiter persisted with a chilly tone.
"I just want to ask you one thing, have you never been beaten up? If I tear your armor off, pull you out of the cockpit, and throw you to the top of any building for everyone to see for three days, I suppose you wouldn’t complain, right?" Long Yi maintained his smile, but his words were chilling.
"You dare?" The waiter stepped forward, looking down at Long Yi imposingly.
"I’ve been high and mighty for two lifetimes, always the one looking down on others!"
Boom!
A heavy punch tore open the front of the waiter’s armor, revealing the terrified driver inside.
With a large hand, he grabbed the white-clad small figure, watching its intense struggle: "Come on, ask me again, see if I dare."
The waiter, frail in comparison, couldn’t break free from Long Yi’s grip. He wept, "I’m sorry, sir! It’s my fault! Please spare me!"
But Long Yi didn’t release him. Instead, he grabbed the waiter’s head with one hand and headed towards the park’s entrance.
"I like your grit, kid, so I’ll keep my word. I’ll find the tallest building and throw you onto it. Whether or not you’re still alive when you come down is not my problem."
The waiter was almost fainting from fear. This park was owned by the Emperor, and naturally, being the Emperor’s servant meant even the wealthy and powerful dared not show any irresponsibility here. Having been a waiter here, he had developed a sense of superiority.
Since Long Yi and Elsa had entered, he felt uncomfortable all over. In his view, this was an ultra-high-end place meant only for those with taste and status. These two obviously out-of-place yokels coming here would tarnish its high-end nature, hence his adverse tone.
